It worked like a dream and the cost was cheaper than a ... I ordered this for an unusual purpose! I used it to "carefully" saw deep enough into an elderly person's curled toenail, just enough to weaken it and allow the nail to be trimmed properly. It worked like a dream and the cost was cheaper than a podiatrist and the elderly person didn't even have to leave home! 4Very nice little saw, decent price and X-Acto quality. Really like this little tool.Become really handy around for bunch of projects.Great for detailed work, hobbyist, working with models and miniatures, craft projects etc.Ability to exchange blades is a huge plus. It's very sharp and cuts well, works great so far.Comes with two blades, both blades are same 42 tpi (teeth per inch). One is 3/4" deep and other one is 1" deep(X-acto # X234 and X235).My only two cents - do not buy it with Excel Mitre Box as I did and as was recommended by Amazon. Blades are not deep enough to cut thru unless you going to put something underneath of piece you want to cut. See photos for more details. All in all I really love this little saw. 5Flimsy low quality, disappointed. X-Acto used to be THE hobby knives and saws to use. They were the original hobby tool maker and were good quality. When I bought this I expected the same. The saw blade is very flimsy and thin, the blade backing will bend easily. You have to really torque down the chuck vise on the handle to sufficiently hold the blade, and the shaft of the blade that fits in the chuck had to be squeezed down to fit in the chuck as it was too large to fit. That was easy to do since the metal is so soft, thin and flimsy. It works okay for cutting foam or balsa, but if you anticipate a lot of use I'd go for something better than this. No, I wouldn't recommend nor would I purchase again. 1Mini hacksaw for aggressive cuts. If you want to make small precise cuts, there are better blades than this. Very sharp, very stiff. The handle looks cheap but it does the job well and is more than strong enough for the job. The entire design and ergonomics seems to be designed for aggressive cutting but being a push blade, it's hard to control. It feels like a mini hacksaw and will get you through dowels and sheets of material quickly. I will be looking elsewhere for a precision oriented saw. 4Works well if you can get the blade into the handle It's very sharp and cuts well. However, the end of the knife where it fits into the handle was not round so it would not fit. I had to crimp it with pliers all around to make it fit. It's very sharp and you can really do some damage to your hand if you try to force the blade into the handle without crimping it first. Therefore I'm taking off two stars 3Not Just for Hobbiests, Great Workshop Tool for Electronics, Maker and Exploring After snapping open a few Bluetooth locator fobs to replace the batteries, I felt that these blades might do a cleaner job by cutting them rather than using the hammer and chisel they way I did the first dozen or so.The blades make quick work of these locator shells, slipping right into the groove of the untouched shell and cutting through the plastic with ease. The two images are the original Tile locators, which contain a 3v coin-size battery that is soldered or welded into place. I will be pulling those out and replacing them with a snap-in battery holder on the outside of the case so I can replace the battery every 18-months or so without opening the split case. I won't be putting that on the outside of anything, but there are plenty of opportunities to slip these into a side pocket of a suitcase, backpack, lunch box, camera case or other items you want to track. As I cut more old locators I get a little better with my technique, but from the first cut, I've found this X-Acto saw the perfect tool for the job! Even as prices on the locators come down, replacing the battery will always be cheaper than replacing an entire unit. 5Returned immediately I have gotten what is theoretically this same set from Amazon before and they were fairly sturdy and worked well for craft wood cutting at a reasonable price. So since I had cheerfully nearly worn out my former set, I got another one. You would not believe they were theoretically the same set. I even compared my old set to this side by side. The blades in the new set were super thin and flexible - very cheap feeling. They wouldn't even cut *thin balsa* or strip wod for miniatures - a box cutter worked better. So I returned them to Amazon and got a different brand that I have given a five star review. I don't know if I got a fluke set or a knock-off or what, but it was really disappointing. 2Handy, but both blades are same t.p.i. handy LITTLE saw, but I thought I was getting 2 different blades (fine cut and extra fine)The blades are .001" thick and BOTH blades are 42 teeth per inch-the only differenceis the depth of cut-1 is 3/4 deep and 1 is 1" deep(X-acto blade numbers X234 and X235 respectively)This info would have been helpful before I made the decision to buy 3Good saw - but a little too thin for medium fret wire This is a great little saw for the price. I purchased it to cut fret slots for a cigar box guitar. I found the slots a little too thin to accommodate the tang of the "medium" size fret wire I used. I had to file the tangs down and even then it was really a struggle to get them seated without rolling/deforming. It was my first fretting job and next time I'll be spending the money for a proper fret saw - but that's my bad and not Xacto's. This is a good little hobby saw for extremely thin cuts. 5It cuts really well and is a decent price, ... It cuts really well and is a decent price, but the blades don't connect to the handle firmly. I tried to tighten the spinning part that attaches the blade to the handle, and no matter how tight it was it was still loose. I won't be using the saw too much, so it's not a huge deal, but I can see how it could be incredibly dangerous to have a loose blade on the handle. 3
