    Cheap portable storage I needed an external drive that was affordable and fairly lightweight. I did not want to spend much money on the solution, so this was perfect. I bought an external case with USB-C support. This works with my iMac and Macbook Pro. Plus, I'd had much better luck with Western Digital than some of the other brands. Can't beat this for the price/storage. 5really durable good little drives i have 24 of them and just ordered another 8 need i say morei use them in SFF raid racks on my home media serverthey work perfectly haven't had one fail yet and the first 8 are 7 years oldTuff Stuff ! 5I've had good experiences with all Western Digital disk drives I've had good experiences with all Western Digital disk drives, both internal and portable. Very high quality disks. Fast Amazon delivery, & a great price. Good job Amazon! As an aside, I highly recommend using S.M.A.R.T software (CrystalDiskInfo is one good example of such freeware software) to test and predict disk drive health. The laptop disk I was replacing was a Seagate which worked great until it failed. But Seagate did last 3+ years, so no complaints..... My not paying attention to plenty of signs of impending disk drive failure caused plenty of trouble restoring system.... Even with excellent & current backups, took a while restoring laptop because of figuring out BIOS and UEFI issues, and how to format a new disk and make it bootable, but a whole different story! Bottom line, pay attention to a disk's signs of impending failure, and use the S.M.A.R.T. software to tell you trouble is coming! 5not new, not a terabyte and not a blue drive not new, not a terabyte and not a blue drive, did not come in original packaging, only showed 300 gb when I connected it, strike three your out 1My only brand Wd blue drives are my only brand as pc tech . Wd blacks are faster but have shorter life's . These are long lasting drives at a perfect speed. Of course solid states are faster but the lives are shorter. If you want a long lasting drive but western digital blue drives. 5I don't understand why you can't buy good OEM drives from Amazon any more These "WD 2016 New Blue" hard drives actually have a manufacturer date of July 2014. It is so frustrating to be mislead and ripped off. There will be no Western Digital warranty on these drives. I don't understand why you can't buy good OEM drives from Amazon any more. It seems like all hard drives for sale on Amazon are used or 'pulls' or aged, and usually have no factory warranty.. I swore off that "Egg Vendor" years ago, but I guess I'll have to go back there to get my hard drives. They still sell new and fresh drives with a manufacturer warranty. 1Very Poor Packaging! I have purchased many Hard drives from this seller and everything has always been great up until this last purchase. The hard drive was just flopping around and moving around in a 5x larger box then the hard drive size. Me being a computer repair technician I have seen more than my fair share of hard drives that can be damaged due to heavy movement/drops. This is unacceptable although I am lucky the hard drive appears to be fine now. But time will tell. Also I can't forget the label on the hard drive has changed from previous purchases. It came with a plane white label this time that only said "Slim" on it. Not with the normal original Western Digital Label which concerned me as well to make me believe it was a refurbished or used item. Although I did some testing and everything checks out as new and never powered up. Yet again that can still be manipulated with the proper software/equipment. I will be changing my review if things change any time soon. At this time based on the above I can only give a 3 star due to the Very unprofessional Packaging. 3Easy change out and plenty of room Had a a hard drive become RIP and still don't know what happened but I was very happy to find a new heart. Easy to replace and lot of space so a no brainer replacement. Now my big problem is with the old drive and tons of stuff was on there :-( very sad, tons of pics all gone. Great price and no problem with install and reinstall of Windows. I still had another old slow laptop to help with the download and disc making to revive new hard drive. 5Hard drive failed after 9 months Update: WD doesn t cover warranty on OEM hard drives so I guess I buying another new one...I purchased this hard drive in April of 2018 and had it professionally installed by Best Buy's Geek Squad. Now in January 2019 the hard drive has failed. I tried to see if it was covered under warranty but WD needs the serial number which means I have to pay Best Buy to open up my laptop and help me get the serial number, then see if WD will replace it, then wait for that whole process to transpire before returning to Best Buy to have them install the new one. All of this means that I have no laptop for the next few weeks which is extremely inconvenient since this is my only computer. 1Fast; Efficient; Cheap 1-T!
