Customer Reviews

Works fine, just be careful to get a driver if using on multiple systems.I had to download a driver on my mac to be able to use this product with a camera card that I use interchangeably from mac to windows. All works well now, though. I'd bought a different product which I returned prior to this one because it reformatted my sd card when I plugged it into my mac for the first time. After this one prompted for the same thing, I was careful not to make the same mistake of reformatting the card but was able to get a driver that would read the sd card for both operating systems. I think this is because it's the 3.0-I use a verbatim 2.0 at work and can use it back and forth between my mac and work computer.3Wish the cord had more flexiblityThe connecting cord is not as flexible as I hoped. Actually I was hoping that there was a means to rotate or secure in a flat position out the end of the device, but there is not. Mostly it wants to be at about a 45 degree angle when pulled out from the device, so there is no way to lay the device flat. That is my only real "con." Otherwise it is a quality card reader.4it was fine and great Couple days and uploads in, it was fine and great. Used it today and as I was taking it out of the connection slot the metal part came off.I couldn't help but laugh, I've had it only a few days so that really pissed me off. Ordered another one, and hopefully the same thing doesn't happen. Still what a waste of 14 bucks lol 1Extremely compact USB 3.0 SD/MicroSD card reader capable of UHS-I speeds. This review is for the USB 3.0 version of this product. It is a compact SD/MicroSD card reader equipped with a Genesys Logic GL3233 USB 3.0 Single-LUN Memory Card Reader Controller capable of supporting up to UHS-I speeds. I am pointing this out because the question answered by the manufacturer in the Q&A portion of this product listing states that UHS-II speeds are supported without clarifying that this only applies to the USB-C version of this product. I'm sure this was not intentional on the part of Verbatim, but I was looking for a USB 3.0 UHS-II card reader and thought due to the answer in the Q&A that this would fit the bill. It is still a very useful, very portable SD/MicroSD card reader if you require speeds up to UHS-I and do not need the ability to read or write both card slots simultaneously.Having lost a few card readers over the years to problems with built-in cables I appreciate the fact that this card reader has its connector attached directly to the board. If I could have all of these features plus UHS-II speed this would have been my perfect SD/MicroSD card reader.4At the time of this writing you basically can choose ...At the time of this writing you basically can choose this one or spend double on the Sandisk. If you want UHS-II compatibility, transfer speed through a device with USB-C built in (no adapters needed), name brand for under $25 this is really your only choice in April 2018. The only down side or weakness is how the cable comes out and is sorta hinged. You have to use a finger nail to get the usb-c out of how it is retained by the molded plastic. Then once loose it doesn't really fold open into a position. Just kinda pops out and you are done. Then once plugged into a MacBook Pro it is at an overall awkward position (see pics). It will work until more choices become available.3Works with the Pixel 2 phoneContrary to what I read in several reviews, it works just fine with the Google Pixel 2 phone. Plug a card into the reader, plug the reader into the phone, and it shows up as a USB mass storage device. Simple.Despite those reviews, I purchased this with the intention of using it to import photos onto my laptop a bit quicker. According to some comparison reviews, this reader is one of the faster UHS-II readers on the market. I expect it will be a bit faster than the UHS-I reader that is built into my laptop. The fact that it also works with my smartphone is just a bonus.5Handy and fast!I wanted a USB-C card reader for SD and uSD cards...this fit the bill and wasn't to pricy. Pleasantly surprised and I can download my GBs of camera RAW files quickly and easily without and USB adapters. The cable on this is quite short and not very flexible so it doesn't wind up sitting flat...but that's minor and doesn't impact performance or usability. It's small and light and doesn't take up much room or weight in my bag either. This is much faster than any internal SD card reader in a laptop that I've found too.5Complete JunkI had to write this review because trust me, this thing WILL break. For me, with LIGHT use, it broke less than a year after purchase. I tried to return through amazon but they said NOPE! Had to go through Verbatim for the warranty. I wouldn't recommend this product, buy something else with better reviews I should have listen to the reviews.1Best option currently available for MacBook ProAfter much review and purchasing and returning a couple others, this is the best option for the MacBook Pro. I tried a couple by Sandisk, but they would eject midway and weren't able to finish the transfer. This reader worked instantly and was able to complete the photo transfers right away, it was speedy and easy to use. I don't need the Micro SD, but there aren't any better options and it's still smaller than others even without MicroSD. I held off on purchasing this Verbatim because so many complaints about it not laying flat, but eventually I broke down and bought it and fortunately this wasn't an issue at all.For those of you worried about it not laying flat, this turned out to be a complete non issue, and possibly even a benefit. See photo - if instead of trying to lay it flat you let it face the other way, it keeps the natural position of the cord and it connects and fits easily. The benefit I discovered is that in this position it's actually easier to put cards in and take them out. With the Sandisk it did lay perfectly flat, but because you're trying to grab a tiny card against the tabletop, and your fingers can't fit underneath the card, it was too difficult to remove the card so I would have to lift the unit up or remove it entirely just to take out a card. With this one, you can more easily grab the card with your fingers because it's up off the table a bit. Not sure if that makes sense, but in the end this was not only more reliable but the connection position actually ended up being easier (and more compact). Hope that helps anyone struggling as I was to find a simple card reader after Apple got rid of them!!!5The only SD reader that has native Type-C plug and UHS-II compatibilityBought for my MacBook Pro with Touch Bar to read UHS-II SD cards out of my Sony Action Cams and Fujifilm X-T20. This is the only one I could find that has USB3.1 speeds, native Type-C plug for MBPw/TB and UHS-II compatibility for under $20. There are a couple others that meet the speed and compatibility specs but their prices are well over $30, to include SanDisk and Sony. Lexar's solution allows you to use the cable you want but that's just one more thing to buy. This has all the speed you expect and will halve your transfer times with UHS-II spec SD & micro SD cards. The storable plug and compact size makes it easy to slip into your bag and forget about it... until you need it.Real time saver for anyone who deals with high MP RAW image files, high frame rate 1080p HD or 4K video. It's even fast enough to edit files directly from the card, if you so choose. Mind you the reader will get a bit warm if you do, but it can be done if you don't have enough drive space.5No OTG supportdoes not support USB OTG... WTF Verbatim?returning both of the ones i ordered.2
