Quick accessable power for your workbenchI mounted this on my workbench for quick access to power. I primarily use my workbench for my R/C hobby (70W soldering iron, 1600W power supply for my charging system, various battery chargers for a cordless drill, power driver, etc.) and sometimes small car jobs. My only gripe is that there is no surge protection. I also wish that there were more mounting options. The mounting brackets that are included only accommodate a top surface mount. I was hoping for a side mount because I wanted to mount this strip on the rear vertical edge of my workbench so that the housing itself was flush with the workbench top. I just ended up fabricating some mounts using some scrap 1" aluminum. 5Not a surge protector. Kept it because it's awesome. This item shows up when you search for surge protectors. There are several items that look *exactly* like this one that ARE surge protectors. This item is NOT a surge protector. That said, it's awesome and I'm keeping it. The 15ft cord is heavy duty and long. The power strip is solid and sturdy. The power-switch cover is a detail I never knew I needed. The spacing of the outlets is ideal. Initially I thought the outlets should have been oriented at a 90 degree angle, but this orientation is actually better (even big plugs stay put). (Un)plugging requires quite a bit of force, which is good. Nothing falls out if you don't want it to. The mounting system that was included works very well (mounted the strip under my desk).Highly recommended. Will be buying more. 5They are the highest quality outlet strips available--commercial/industrial grade, so much better than consumer grade junkI have quite a number of these all around the house. They are the highest quality outlet strips available--commercial/industrial grade, so much better than consumer grade junk (some of which are not even UL listed). Don't worry about the lack of transient "protection," the cheap power strips only give the illusion of transient protection (go to SurgeX and Zero Surge to read why that is true). Series mode transient protectors are the only reliable and effective kind. They cost more initially but can save your expensive electronics. Look on the popular auction site for bargains on Zero Surge and SurgeX. (I have no relationship of any kind with either company except as a Ph.D EE who understand this topic and is a very satisfied user of their products.) 5good quality strip. easy secure mountnig and low profile with well spaced solid outletsI got this to mount on a work table for my wife in our workshop and it fit the bill perfectly. These are a bit higher than some but the quality is way better than most. Its well worth the difference. I'd used these before at work many times so I knew what to expect and that they were well made. Looks like nothing has changed in that regard. The whole tripp lite line is good quality and I have a number of their products. I have yet to be disappointed with them or the value you get for the money. The very long heavy cord is great and was a must have for me as I wanted to route the cord around the table with tie wrap mounts and keep it out of sight to make things neat. Seems everyone wants to skimp on cord to save manf. costs and up profits. The mounting clips used to mount this thing are as easy as it gets and they hold it super secure and solid. I hate those cheap ones where you slide a unit on two screws. They are awkward to mount and never very solid. This system is much better. 5This is great, except it is not 24 inchesThis is great, except it is not 24 inches. It is 24 5/8 inches. That seems pedantic unless you're trying to fit it into a 24 inch space. 4High quality, sturdy and nice looking strip!I got sick of running extension cords to my work bench so I decided to get a power strip to mount to it. Plan A was to get some cheapos form Lowes and tack them on, "good enough," but I thought I would give this a shot. Sometimes you just have to indulge yourself.Build quality is great - the body is an aluminum extrusion (I was expecting sheet metal or maybe plastic), the cord is nice and heavy and fits firmly in to outlets, the outlets in the strip have a nice hold on things plugged in to it, and just generally feels like a quality product. I thought the switch was going to be under a clear rubber bubble or something, but it's actually in a little plastic housing with a door that flips open..this is pretty excellent! Every now and then I will accidentally bump the switch on my more conventional power strips so this was a welcome surprise. But then I got to the mounting brackets. I thought I would be disappointed here, as they felt a little flimsy, but once I got them screwed to the bench top, it's very solid. Only thing I would change would be to put some thumb tabs or something on them for easier removal, but I can't really think of why on earth I'd be removing it on any regular basis. As someone who can complain about nearly anything, I don't have anything bad to say. Only thing I would wish for would be rotating sockets; it may be the perfect power strip if they added those, but the wide spacing accomplishes basically the same thing in most senses. But I don't care, this guy's getting 5 stars! 5Wall Mountable and All 8-Ports Available Even with Power BricksWe have several of these power strips and we love them. We use them behind entertainment centers, in the garage, and other places in the house. These things are awesome because they allow wall-warts (power bricks) enough space that you don't use up multiple outlets for one gigantic brick. All 8 outlets are accessible with almost anything plugged into them. The units are easily wall mountable. I have them wall mounted and I can tell you that you can pull the plug on an item and the power strip doesn't budge. The mounting plates work as they should and are much better than traditional power strip mounting. The 15-Foot cable was another selling point for me. We have been able to use the power strip so much further from an outlet. We are very happy. 5Solid metal construction, long and skinny form factor.I've turned into a Tripp Lite fanboy the past few years and quite a power distribution nerd, trying to find the perfect product for each nook and cranny of my home. I ordered the 8 right-angle outlet, 24-inch power strip with 15' cord (14 AWG with right-angle plug) to use at a small computer desk to free up cord clutter from the floor. It sits on the desk itself toward the rear and has perfectly spaced outlets for a laptop, monitor, clock radio, and multiple cell phone and tablet chargers that all used to be on the floor by my feet. I no longer have to bend down to find the right cord to charge my cell phone or Fitbit. The Tripp Lite power strip feeds into an APC SMC1500 sine-wave UPS, and the UPS feeds into a Zero Surge 8R15W-I series mode surge protector. I guess that's about $700 in power products just for this particular area, but it's a configuration that looks good, functions well, and covers all my bases as far as power distribution, power loss protection, and transient voltage protection. This power strip's a little pricey, but it has a lifetime warranty, looks attractive, and is good metal construction. I expect this to last many years doing its job 24/7 being out of the way. Only improvement is I wish their products were made in the USA again. 5Perfect Solution to my Wall Wort DilemmaI'm beyond very happy with the Tripp Lite power strip. I had a serious problem with 5 Voltage Adapters (wall worts) that I had to connect to my new Tripp Lite UPS. The power output plugs on the UPS were mostly stacked as close as possible together, which made it impossible to plug them in directly. My first attempt at a solution was to use short power cables, and a couple of Y power cables to help me plug in all of the adapters plus a couple of direct AC plugs. It worked, but resulted in a mess, with all of the adapters in an unsightly pile on the floor, as shown in the first picture, and no way that I could see to clean it up.Scanning through Amazon for a solution to my problem at 3 in the morning, I came across the Tripp Lite 8 Outlet Bench & Cabinet Power Strip. While I would have preferred that they had oriented the receptacles with the plugs perpendicular to the length of the strip, I was confident it would accommodate my adapters, which it does, with one outlet to spare.I really appreciate that they included of a sturdy shield for the power switch, to prevent inadvertent power losses. The unit is built to industrial standards, encased in solid aluminum all around, and the receptacles fit tightly to the adapter plugs, so there is no risk of fallout. The strip does not include a surge protection device, so it it ideal for attaching to a UPS system. With the addition of the power strip, I was able to clean up the installation, and also get everything off of the floor. The second pic shows the end result. The only thing I wasn't pleased with was the 15 ft AC power cord. I could have ordered the one with a 6 ft cord, but the listing showed it costing at least $10 more than the 15 foot model - I didn't understand the logic of that pricing at all. I was going to just leave the power cord in place, but decided to bite the bullet and cut it short. I added a good quality Hubbell power plug. I know that I probably violated the lifetime warranty, but I seriously never expect to need it. 5Unreliable mountingI like the length and spacing of outlets. The illuminated power switch is a plus. I mounted the included clips in a toolbox with bolts, they hold the strip using friction. Generally this provides power for chargers but when I unplug three prong plugs, the power-strip comes out of the clips before the plug releases. I use it seldom for extension cords and the like so I don't remember to brace it with my hand when unplugging. It can be frustrating. Next time I will opt for something with a permanent mounting flange. 3
