Easy way to turn your cables black! This was a very convenient way to sleeve cables, I really liked it. The only additional thing you need is heat shrink and a heat gun. This is the heatshrink I bought: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018G6CQAG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1And here is the heatgun: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004TUCV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1I explain how to use this at the 9min19second mark of my video tutorial "Water Cooling in 9 Easy Steps." 5Good product, easy to use This worked surprisingly well to cover non-braided wires. I suggest measuring out a length SHORTER than you need to cover, as when you slip it over, you'll want to fasten one end and then pull the sleeve tight toward the other end to get a nice-looking appearance before you fasten the other end (tape or zip tie). 5Spring extra $$ for Split Sleeving unless patience is supreme quality of yours. It's a TOTAL PAIN to use, especially long runs! Next time I'll spend the extra for Split sleeving. This stuff works yet is TOTAL PAIN IN NECK to work on long runs; is total pain as roll comes undone at first removal and impossible to wrap up decently again; and, there is NO REASONABLE WAY to CONTROL FRAYING. Used hot cutters, heat gun, and flame... all is horrible and leaving end almost impossible to work with AND sleeve begins unraveling a few millimeters from cut end. Same material in split sleeving is workable though NOT OF SIMILAR QUALITY as No-fray "metallic" sleeves. 2Good stuff, great suppler Great product, great shipping, great protection. A little pricey, but best deal I have found for this. For the car interior I bought "fuzzy" loom tape for the ends. It helps deaden sound. Under the hood I use high-temp loom tape to close the ends--about an inch in each direction.I like this better than the split hard plastic stuff in a lot of areas. Yes, the plastic gives more protection from chemicals and rocks, but this drains instead of filling with water. So it's a crap shoot. I do use both. 5GIVES A FINISHED AND MORE PROFESSIONAL LOOK TO MY HOMEMADE 12 AWG CABLES This was my first time using Techflex. It does take some patience to keep from unravelling and yes, you do have to push it on and let it bunch up and then smooth the bunched up portion across the cable/wire. If you pull on it, it constricts or tightens up. I am sure I can make it look better next time I work with it.I purchased the 1/4" braid to go over twisted pairs of12AWG copper multi-strand wire. I had the twisted wire pairs secured at each end with heat-shrink tubing. The braid slid over the heat-shrink tubing okay but it was more difficult to get another piece of the same size heat-shrink tubing over the braid at each end to keep it from unravelling.I will probably use wire boots/pants next time but I am pleased with my first attempt. I recommend this for a great finished appearance, but only if you're the type that is patient and perseveres in whatever you take on. 5My cat hates it. I use this to wrap the USB cable to charge my phone as one of our cats likes to chew on cables and destroy them. The cat doesn't like the texture of the sleeve, so she leaves it alone. How much protection this really provides, I can't say, but it solved my immediate problem, so I'm happy. The sleeve stretches nicely over a USB-C cable. Cutting it required melting the ends with a lighter so it didn't fray further. Don't get the flame too close, just kind of heat the sleeve over the flame and it melts nicely and doesn't fall apart. 4Good Stuff.. read the review for tips on use.. My first time using this product went well but there is a learning curve. The material needs to be cut with a hot knife to seal the edges. I quickly made a coat hanger bar to go in a old gun type soldering gun. Worked great. I found if you bunch or swell the material where it is cut when it seals it forms a larger opening. Good to know! This same swelling or bunching action makes running wires inside go quicker. Sealing the ends with heat shrink tubing makes a nice finish and gives some retention. Of course you can use the material with out all the tips I gave but I think you may benefit from, them. 4This is the good stuff for bundling cables and making wiring harnesses This is the good stuff for bundling cables and making wiring harnesses. There are lots of 1 star reviews saying its smaller than what they expected. I ordered 1/4 inch, 25 foot long and that's what I got. It measures 1/4 inch O.D. And expeands so that it can easily hold 6 14 gauge wires without over stretching it. 5Good for pet-proofing small cables This is exactly what I was looking for. I have a cat who LOVES to eat phone charge cables (who knows why - it's only phone charge cables). He has ruined many a cable. So I bought this to cover all my cables. It definitely is very small. You'll see in my picture that it just fits around the cable. You are able to push it together to contract it to make it larger to fit over a larger obstacle, like the USB end of the cord (as pictured). However that's about as big as it will expand. It wouldn't have expanded large enough to clear the Apple charger side of the cord. Also for reference, I tried putting it on another small cord, but would have to clear a 3-prong wall plug to get it onto the cord. That definitely would not work. You would need a larger diameter, though then it might not fit as snugly on the actual cable itself. 4A little tricky to use, but nice results This is a great product, but can be a little tricky to use since the ends tend to unravel as the wires are fed through. As supplied, the braid at the ends is heat sealed together, but it is necessary to cut off that part to insert any bundle of wires larger than 1/4".The trick is to keep the unraveled part short enough that it will be covered by heat-shrink tubing applied to the ends. I found that I could use a rolled-up strip of paper as a funnel to insert the bundle of wires. That reduced the tendency to unravel. It might also be helpful to apply painters' tape temporarily. When apply the heat-shrink tubing, I rolled a small strip of paper around the end of the braid, then inserted it into the tubing and pulled the paper out. The tubing should be about an inch long, half on the braid and half in direct contact with the wires.Overall I was very pleased with the results, and I'm sure this gets easier with practice. 5
