Customer Reviews

Very effective at low monitor brightness and at distances. To get the maximum privacy benefit of this screen, turn down your laptop monitor brilliance level to about 50%. I really like the magnetic strip allowing the screen protector to be easily removed or flipped from matte to glossy. It stays in place and protects the screen from oils and such that may come off the fingers through normal everyday use.Full Brilliance: This product does not provide a level of privacy protection that is expected at full screen brilliance. At full brilliance, it does not "protect" sensitive information, particularly from people sitting close to you, such as in a cafe, on an airplane, on the train, or in any public setting. There did seem to be some privacy benefit when looking at the screen from a distance greater than 10 feet (3m) and from angles greater than about 45 degrees (i.e. stand in front of the laptop screen then walk to one side as though you were going to walk in a circle around the laptop). At a distance, the information on the screen is not readable but images are still viewable, although at a much more dimmed level. There is full viewing from directly in front of the screen (i.e. someone looking over your shoulder while they walk behind you). However there is still a wide range of viewing so anyone essentially behind you and in relative close proximity will be able to see what's on the screen. Close up, even at almost a 90 degree angle to the monitor, images could still be seen, albeit dimmed, text was not readable.50% Monitor Brilliance: At this level, there is an excellent level of privacy protection. With the monitor turned down 50% it is very difficult for someone sitting next to you (e.g. on an airplane) to see what is on your screen. Text would be almost impossible to read; images may be somewhat discernible but still difficult to view.Photos attached show the monitor at 100% brilliance without the screen protector attached; 100% brilliance with the screen protector attached; 50% brilliance close up; 50% brilliance a little further away.If you liked this review, please click "Yes" that it was helpful! I'm always trying to make my reviews more helpful to other potential buyers. 5Excellent product! Finally found the one that works! Finally found a privacy screen that doesn t require me to crank the screen brightness up to be able to see the screen. That being said, it s more effective to lower the brightness a bit for close quarters such as an airplane, but it doesn t take much to keep nosy seat-neighbors from seeing what you re working on. I travel often and sometimes do work on airplanes, but I like to maintain my privacy, as well as that of my clients. I have gotten a lot of compliments on it and have recommended it to many. This screen works great and the magnetic function keeps it attached to my laptop. It is a bit thick so my laptop (MacBook pro retina) doesn t fully close and engage the auto-screen lock/hibernate function. However, best practice is to manually lock or set hibernation mode anyhow, so I don t mind at all.It also comes with a protective sleeve for times it isn t needed. All in all, a great product! 5Two things that are common between this and 3M is that it will make your screen fuzzy and the protection angle isn't that great. People in the airplane seat next to you ...If you're considering this and 3M, go with this one. Two things that are common between this and 3M is that it will make your screen fuzzy and the protection angle isn't that great. People in the airplane seat next to you can still see what you're working on, but it will be slightly blurred. You would not want to be working on things that require detail, such as graphics, due to the fuzziness. This one wins over the 3M version because there seems to be a slight improvement on blur and angle, the price is better, and the biggest reason is the innovative magnet to easily put on and take off. They include a travel case for the screen protector as well, which means they really thought this out. They'll get 1 more star when they improve the fuzziness and protection angle. 4Useless for PrivacyThis is the first Tech Armor product I've had that didn't work. I currently use their privacy screens on my other devices and they work great, but this one just doesn't work. I could still clearly read the display at over 150 degrees! It simply dimmed the view without blocking anything.I really liked the idea of the matte and glossy sides, and the magnetic part worked well. However, as others have noted, you cannot fully close the laptop with this screen in place. It's only for temporary use. 1Nice, but too thick.I think that this protector does a fine job of providing privacy. My biggest complaint with this screen is that, as other viewers have noted, you cannot close the screen with the protector in place. Yes, they provide a lovely sleeve for you to take it off and store it, but the screen should be able to close so you don't have to do that all the time. The amount that it prevents the screen from closing is enough that it will do damage to the laptop if left on and transported that way frequently. I have a picture to demonstrate. 2Not what I expected and managed to crack my laptop screenI was looking forward to getting a new protective/privacy screen for my Mac book. After adding it to my screen I did see some privacy benefits, but feel more like it just dims the screen then actually provides side view privacy. It wasn t very clear how to affix it to the Mac screen, since it was magnetic and still came with rubber nubbies and Velcro. My biggest frustration was a few days after buying it the screen had slid down on the laptop screen and became wedged between the screen and my laptop base. I did not realize what was happening and it actually cracked my laptop screen. So upset about this outcome and now my laptop is damaged. I suppose if you buy this, becareful how you use it and maybe remove it when closing the laptop as you may have the same situation as me. 1I would like to say that this protector came really nicely packaged ...I would like to say that this protector came really nicely packaged in its own sleeve and there were additional cleaning tools for it.The protector sticks really well on the mac for both the glossy and matte side. It's probably not as good as 3M gold protectors but it does a pretty decent job. As for closing the mac while the protector is on, let me remind everyone that is giving a one star rating that your 2500 dollar macbook was designed NOT to have anything in between the screen and the keyboard. It is stated specifically in Apple's documentation that nothing should be placed between the keyboard and screen due to the delicate nature and that the screen is designed to such thinness to perfectly close down onto the keyboard. The way I see it, I have a case that I place the 2017 macbook in and this protector will just go into the case ontop of the mac. When I need to use it, i stick it onto the mac as simple as it is due to the magnets and when I am packing, I just simply slide it down to take it out and pack it in the case together.Apple Site:"Do not use palm rest or keycap covers on a MacBook Pro with Retina displayLeaving any material on the top case (keyboard and palm rest area) could result in damage to the display when you close it. This includes palm rest or keyboard covers, as well as any adhesive-backed keycap additions. To enable the thin design of MacBook Pro with Retina display computers, the clearance between the display and the top case is engineered to tight tolerances. Do not use palm rest covers or keycap covers, as the additional thickness may interfere with the designed closed position of the display.Information about products not manufactured by Apple, or independent websites not controlled or tested by Apple, is provided without recommendation or endorsement. Functionally speaking, it is perfect privacy screen. I have shown 100% and 50% brightness results from front and side in the video. I like the durability, make and finish of the screen. It has dual functionality (Gloss and Matte side). The best thing is Matte side removes the room light and sunlight glares and shadows. The best for me was the Matte side facing towards me. If someone is sitting really very very close and you want 100% privacy I would suggest not keeping MacBook screen brightness at 100%. Keep it as low as you are comfortable with. If the other person is not sitting so close, you can even keep the brightness, full. I myself checked all of this functionality from different distances and with varying brightness settings. To get the best out of it, install is with sticky tape on the bottom side so that it doesn't keep your Macbook wide opened while not in use. The pics in the video are without this thorough installation and I am thinking of doing this soon. They also provide you with a pouch to keep the protector safe while not in use. The protector itself has magnetic strip on top to attach/detach frequently. But I am not that kind of guy who can handle this hassle everytime and a million times a day. So, the pouch idea is useless to me. Giving 5 stars as it has given me the full functional privacy I needed. Previously I had Tech-Armor Privacy screen for my smartphone but was not happy with it due to dim screen even with 100% phone brightness. But this one for MacBook is doing great. 5Too thick, too dark, doesn't block off-angle viewing very much.I had expected this to have better off-angle blocking. While I like the magnetized strip for easy removal, the plastic is too thick to allow a 2017 Macbook Pro to close. Is also doesn't work well as a "privacy screen" as it's still easy to see the screen off-angle from nearly any distance. While the anti-glare works really well, it significantly darkens the screen (by about 30%). I had the Homy previously and it works perfectly; will be returning this for another Homy. 1Are you ready to commit to a permanent attachment to your screen? You have to commit to affixing it to your screen with little stickers. If you don't, and just try to have it on sometimes and off others, eventually, it will pull away and not be snug to the screen. Bummer- as I wanted it for work trips and then not have it on when I didn't need it on. Of course, now I don't know where I placed the little feet to permanently affix it to the screen. Just be forewarned. I can flip it around and use the matte side and it still sits tight against the screen, but I don't like the look of that finish as I do the smooth side. 3
