Very poor wire/audio cable...so unfortunate.Let me start by saying the sound of these IE headphones are wonderful. However, the 3.5mm connector and cable is just down-right crap. If the cable or connector moves/wiggles, the audio go out in right ear, sometimes both. You also get a lot of static. Just extremely poor QC in China - like the rest of what that country produces.I am trying to replace a pair of Vmoda that are 10 to 12 years old. Cords are all frayed, wire sticking out and yet they still work...imagine that. Sure wish companies would do some real QC'ing of their Chinese productsI had one pair replaced, but the 2nd pair did the same thing. So just getting a refund. If someone who has another color has had any better luck, please comment!2If you want a real thumping bass these may not do but if you want ballance and just a great overall sound these are great.Do do love these headphones. I am one of those that like extra bass and to me these could use a bit more Thump but that is just me. One of my other Personal complaints is they do not block outside noises very well. I had the 10s and thought they did better with blocking external noises and gave me more of a thumping bass. If you are not one of those that likes the bass to be too prominent then you should be happy. The sound is crystal clear so you hear everything which is wonderful. It does seem they are a bit power hungry for my Fiio X3 player. With the Soundmagic 10s I listened to them at the volume 1/2 up but with these I need them at about 3/4 of the way up. I was considering some headphones with a replaceable cord since that is the reason I am replacing my old 10s but loved the sound of the Soundmagic brand and was afraid the others would just not sound as good so I stuck with these.4LG Quad DACI bought these because I wanted to utilize the Quad DAC in my LG V20 with in ear phones as I find them more convenient for listening to music in public over big over the ear/on the ear headphones. They V series Quad DAC requires an impedance of 50 ohms or greater to kick in and these earbuds at 64 ohms do the job. Sound is crisp, clear and powerful with the DAC triggered. I can't go back to listening without the DAC in working mode. Product is well made, buttons are responsive and include play/pause/skip/previous and volume control. Great product overall. Downside is I don't want to ruin these by wearing them to workout so I'll use a cheater Sony or Skull Candy pair to workout with. Comes with an array of silicon and foam buds for any size ear canal. Would highly recommend. If bass is what you need just twiddle your eq and you'll hear the cleanest deepest bass you've ever heard on earbuds. Highly recommended.5Pure Ear Candy! I can't express just how good these sound! These little gems just keep surprising me over and over again! I've had the pleasure of listening to a wide variety of music with these now and I feel extremely spoiled and undeserving of such awesomeness. Many songs I've listened to numerous times in the past surprise me with things I haven't noticed before, without even trying to notice any differences. The level of clarity and detail on these is amazing. It sounds like you're sitting in the studio with the artist/band/etc. I find myself disappointed when listening to music via any other means now. They are just THAT good... my ears have never been happier.I've compared these now to high end over ear cans along with my own expensive surround set up at home and these are my preferred choice now to listen to music. Period! Everything else just sounds - lacking. How can sound get any better and more pure than this?5Cheap cable and bad fitI've owned a number of SoundMagic headphones in the past, and had nothing but good experiences. Unfortunately with the E80C something has changed. The cable feels cheaper and thinner than it did before, and when plugged into my phone the headphones have a lot of static if the cable is so much as breathed on, let alone actually moved. If you rotate the jack at all while plugged in the volume differs dramatically. The included "phone adapter" does nothing, and in fact causes music to be played out of my phone's speaker, not through the headphones. I'm incredibly disappointed for $80.Edited to Add: The inline functionality also only works sporadically. When it ceases to change the volume or start/stop the music I have to unplug the headphones and replug them before it will work. Downgrading review from 2 star to 1 star.1Clear sound, nice design overall. These are decent phones with rich yet balanced sound, good fit, sturdy design and easy to manage cable.I was a bit disappointed by the design of the control pod that houses the buttons and the microphone. It is large, larger than on other phones that I had before, but it is difficult to hold confidently or press the controls. Also, it seems impossible to skip music playback forward or backward. It is a miss, given sophistication of the conroller (works with both Android and iPhone) and the price. The 45-degree plug is a bit of a miss for me, too. It doesn't go straight out of your pocket as a straight connector would do. It also doesn't allow the phone to be put connector-down as a 90-degree connector would allow you to. It sort of always sticks out in 1/2 wrong direction regardless of how you want to use the cable. However, I appreciate how sturdy the connector is and how comfortable the grip is. This should help it last a long time.4RevelationThese are excellent earphones. These are my third pair of earphones around the same price. I used 1more triple drivers for a couple of months and they were exceptional, but the problem was I couldn't use them with my Pixel XL as they have a compatibility issue, they even updated their website adding the pixel phones to their incompatible phone list, still kinda disappointed with it.Anyway, I have ordered the Sennheiser Momentum (a.k.a HD1) being a very long time fan of those and they were good, more emphasis on bass like all the momentum series. The problem was they had limited number of eartips and not many compatible third party eartips with different sizes.Which brings me to the E80C Reference series; first up, I don't think these are extremely noise isolating, but they are adequate. I was kind of skeptical at first, I was kind of spoilt by the premium packaging the 1more arrived in. In comparison, these arrived in a bubble wrap envelope and when I opened it, the box had damage at the bottom and how cheap the box in the envelope was. However, I got the earphones out of the box and tried out the standard eartips they came in, the sound was okay, nothing exceptional so I tried out one of the comply eartips (comes with S, M and L) right out of the box! It took me a couple of tries before I settled on the small since the mediums weren't snug and I could hear the noises around me.Anyway, let me tell you about the sound. Out of this world! It may sound exaggerating, but I have used quite a few of the "budget" and slightly expensive earphones and headphones. Right now, I have used Shure SE 215, ATH M50x, Bose SoundTrue Ultra, SoundTrue in-ear, Sol republic tracks on-ear, Sony MDRBT, JLab, Grado among others. These are the real deal, I really needed something with a mic and could be worn for a long time while having a good listening experience. The sound is warm, no part of the sound signature is overpowering, like the bass in the Momentums and nothing missing. I don't look for a studio experience, but these grow on you, slowly but steadily. You need time to get used to the sound of these, and once they lock you in, you'll love them. I am glad I tried these out, they are truly amazing and comfortable. The mic works and there's not too much cable noise, although the cable feels weird to the touch. Oh well, I'm pretty sure I'll get used to it. I'd definitely recommend them if someone is shopping around the price range, or you could buy without the mic for much less.5Excellent Sound At A Reasonable PriceI bought these to go with the LG V30 smartphone to use at work (less conspicuous then full size over ear design). These sounded awesome straight out of the box. Read a lot of reviews and someone said best headset for LG V30 was these. His quote was (Soundmagic E80 C..Thank me later) These phones paired with a great audio app (PowerAmp I'm looking at you) will more than likely blow you away. The extras that come with it are just icing on the cake Buy a pair...you'll be glad you did.5Absolutely love these, best bang for your buck. Wish they had just a little better sensitivity. Would def. recommend to a friendOk here is one I wish I could give a 4.5 stars. These earbuds sound tremendous 95% of the time. Their only issue is they are a little power hungry. I bought them to use with an android phone, Samsung. I listen to youtube frequently. Most of the music is perfect. Good bass not thumpy but smooth, the mids and high range are equally good. It is only when something has been recorded at a lower volume that I have issues. There is not enough power in the phone to make those songs enjoyable. I am a bit of a music fantatic, I know what I like and how it should sound. These buds need just a schoche better sensitivity. You can read the specs on the description of the buds. I have to say for the Price, these are among the best buds on the market. I have listened to buds that were twice this price that didn't sound near as good. I would recommend to a friend. On my computer listening through a DAC made by Audioengine these buds are amazing, couldn't ask for more. Overall I would say that these buds are the best bang for the buck you will find. I didn't talk about specs or what comes with etc. you can see all of that in the description. I talked about the one thing that matters to me, how do they sound. As an afterthought I should also mentiion that the earpiece that was on them out of the box is what I am using and I sometimes listen for extended periods, hour or more and there is no ear fatique. And finally I bought these with my own hard earned money. Nobody paid me to review these earbuds.5Long life and noted quality improvementsThis is my second pair to use and abuse. I wanted a backup in case my first pair from three years ago fails. Some background... my first pair of an earlier generation actually did fail after a couple years of hard use working outside. I expected the usual failure being one channel quitting because of a cable connection at a stress point where wiring typically gets yanked around. The failure was actually at the device select switch (iPhone/not iPhone) which caused flaky operation. I did some surgery and fixed that issue since I don't need to select. This NEW version has eliminated this weak point and selects the device type automatically. Bravo! I also noticed the new drivers seem to have a more enhanced high end, but they haven't been fully broken in yet. Overall, I find the sound of this model very pleasing and it doesn't cause fatigue even after many hours of listening. The wire type is nice, as it resists tangling and is apparently very tough to handle a great deal of physical abuse without excessive wind noise. That's the usual weakness in many "buds." If there's one area left for improvement, it's the control switch (for volume). It works fine, but physically, it needs too much precise handling for it to work as directed. Operating in the dark, or with large fingers, or if you are in a hurry -- it's just hard to control the switch and get want you want. Electrically it's fine, physically, it's a major weak link compared to the performance of everything else. In the end, the great sound and toughness wins over everything.5
