Overall I like the product as an alternative to the sticky strips ...Overall I like the product as an alternative to the sticky strips we had been using previously. That said, in my case the longevity claims have proven to be quite optimistic. I applied Tub Grip on December the 8th after a thorough cleaning and drying of my acrylic tub. After 24 hrs dry time (longer than the instructions indicated) to be safe: I was very pleased with the texture of the surface. It was subtly textured and my foot would not slip if I had any weight on it at all, even when the bottom of the tub was soapy mid-shower. This persisted for many weeks, but over time the surface became progressively less rough until slipping was a real risk. That degeneration of the surface took a little less than 2 months and only occurred at the center of the tub where people tend to stand, with the edges remaining non-slip. To be clear, the product did not peel off at all - it is still present and seamless to the edges of the tub (where the texture is still rough) it has simply worn smooth. That said, the price is moderate and re-application every few months is no great chore. Thus, I still feel this is viable (just slightly pricier) alternative to the adhesive strips or anti-slip mats. One just needs to check on the surface regularly and re-apply before it becomes un-safe. 4Buy this one!! Read my review for tips....I was comparing this product with a few others that I read had a terribly strong chemical odor. I had been trying to decide for a long time and finally bought this one.It was ridiculously easy. It would be a fun project for a kid to do. Supervised of course.BUT, the key to good results is the prep work!! I ve seem some complaints that it didn t last etc. i would bet their surface wasnt clean enough. This is how I prepped the tub:I first scrubbed it with muriatic acid and scouring stick (fine pumice bar) to remove all residue from previous tread. Rinse well, let dry. Wipe surface with finger. If you see any powdery residue, rinse again, let dry. Repeat if necessary. I rinsed and let dry 3x. When it s immaculate and totally dry, pour half the bottle of tub grip on one half of tub and lightly spread with the roller. Then do other half. Finish rolling lightly til it seems even. I let it dry for 24 hours. I applied 2 months ago and its lasting well so far. Its a clear frosted matte finish. My elderly father is very happy with it. And I was delighted to trash his foam bath mat. The grip had no odor whatsoever. The bottle was more than enough for 1 tub. 5Great stuff, just make sure your surface prep is done.I just applied the product 5 days ago, so far so good. It was very easy to do. I had far more problems removing & cleaning the old anti- slip stickers than applying Slip Doctors. As they say with most paint or similar type products, the quality of the end result is in the preparation. I scrubbed my shower very thoroughly...3 times in fact. I had to do the floor like this in order to remove all of the glue from the previously removed stickers. This scrubbing with a scotch Brite pad per the included instructions took far more than the recommended 5 minute scrub time. I considered using a light grade sand paper to scuff the floor of the shower but chose not to this time. I am confident in the preparation I did being adequate. After allowing the shower to dry fully I applied the product per instructions very quickly & allowed it to dry completely for 24 hours before using the shower. It dried completely clear. I actually had to use a flashlight at a very shallow angle in order to get a look at my handiwork. The grit in the product which gives it it's anti- slip quality was clearly visible & evenly distributed over the entire surface. It works fantasticly & is very comfortable on my feet. Time will tell as to its durability. As I said before however, with any product like this the quality of the end result is all in the surface preparation. The poor reviews I saw on this prior to my purchase were more than likely due to lousy surface preparation. This is usually always a sign of laziness & lack of concern of end results. This then causes blame shifting toward the manufacturer or service provider. At any rate so far this is a great product & I am very pleased with it. 5Buy it, roll it on, love it!This is the third time I ve bought this item, which should tell you something about how awesome it is and how much I trust the product. Our first application was for the master bathtub about 9 years ago when we moved in. The second was for the guest bathtub shortly thereafter. This is the third purchase and was used to re-coat both standard sized tubs. One tube can indeed cover probably like 3 standard tubs - you just have to make sure everything is prepped and dried beforehand and ready to go. The drying time is listed as at least 8 hours (or overnight). It leaves a barely visible sandpaper like texture and is FAR superior to any non-slip mat or tape that I ve seen. It will indeed wear down over time but at this price for eight to nine years of usage, it s totally worth it. 5GREAT product!!!Our shower tiles are small, ceramic 4 4 squares that are SO slick that I can't believe they were used for the FLOOR! Originally, I bought adhesive stickers that I had to cut to fit each tile. But they left gaps where we would still slip a little. 3 years later, the stickers started wearing off. So bought this product to try. It seemed kind of expensive for a small bottle, but it's TOTALLY WORTH IT!!! Be sure to thoroughly clean and dry your shower floor or tub BEFORE applying! After using Goof Off and scraping off the old no-slips, I cleaned with dish soap then rubbing alcohol. After rinsing & THOROUGHLY drying (using towels then letting air-dry for a couple hours), I applied the product. It rolls on kind of tacky, dries transparent, and only shows some minor bumps if you look very closely. Our shower isn't large (about 4' x 6'), and I only used half of the small bottle applying just 1 coat. I'm certain I have enough left to do the tub in the hall bathroom. The surface does not feel very rough or gritty once dried (24 hrs recommended). And every one of our tiles have remained slip-free for over a month now. We couldn't be happier! The directions say to use a non-abrasive cleaner, like Softscrub, to clean and a petroleum based solvent, like Goof Off, to remove the product. I'll submit a follow-up review if/when the product wears off. 5Stop slips and falls in tub or shower easily and cheaplyI really like the value of this anti-slip coating. We have used it in each of tub/shower combos now and have been happy with it for about a year now.Previously we had tried SolidStepCote Formula 02 and had mixed results with it (and it didn't last a year).Pros:- Slightly grippy but non-sticky texture feels like smooth clean sandstone, very nice underfoot!- Easy application on clean tub surface (for this or any other coating, make the tub is totally free of previous coatings, adhesives, limescale or grime)- Forgiving application - you can correct mistakes and even out the coating fairly evenly - unlike solidstepcote that I used previously.- Totally non-toxic and very low odor when applied.- Durable application- Easy to clean with Bon Ami or other gentle cleaners.Cons:- The bottle is a little too small to do two tubs, but too much for one tub. If it was 50% larger they could sell it as a two tub kit.- Not totally invisible - it will add a slightly white opacity which will probably be visible on dark or colorful tubs. On a white tub it's fine.- like any coating, it probably won't hold up well to concentrated solvents or cleaners (bleach etc), and it doesn't being scrubbed with something highly abrasive (few surfaces do). 5Works Great So FarI applied the product 2 weeks ago and it has been fantastic. A few months ago, I slipped and fell in the tiled shower. Fortunately, it only hurt; I wasn't seriously injured. I tried the plastic "treads", but they didn't last and coverage wasn't sufficient.I followed the instructions to the letter and added some further operations. I pulled up the remaining treads and removed trhe adhesive using rubbing alcohol. To scrub the surface, I used my cordless finishing sander with a nylon "scrubbie" pad to clean with an abrasive cleanser (Barkeeper's Friend). I did the full 5 minutes and then some and the surface was very clean when I was done. I rinsed the surface thoroughly and dried it with a towel (or 3), then cleaned it again with alcohol to ensure I didn't leave any residue. I also covered the shower head to make sure there were no drips. I probably spent 30 minutes preparing the surface when it was all said and done. When the surface was suitably dry, I applied the product and allowed it to cure. The curing process took about 8 hours. For a shower that is about 4 feet square, I used about 1/2 bottle. There were some durability problems indicated in earlier reviews, but I haven't seen any yet. I think surface preparation is probably the most important part of this process. Make sure you do it right.I will update this review if there are any changes. 5A+ product I followed Instructions and it works flawlessly!!!(TLDR summary: A+ product I followed Instructions and it works flawlessly!!! )Long Version:I have a fiberglass jacuzzi style tub that has an embossed type pattern which, at first blush, seems like a built-in anti-slip texture. That pattern is wonderful in such a capacity right up until it is wet! Once it is wet the embossed pattern has all of the traction adding power of a cartoon banana peel. I realized that this represented a real safety hazard to myself and my wife (who was then pregnant). So my first attempt to improve upon the 'disaster waiting to happen' that was my bathtub was to get a good quality suction cupped bottom anti-slip tub mat. I cleaned the tub prior to putting that mat in and let it dry, then purposefully placed it so that as many of the suctions cups as possible were on the smooth portions of the tub bottom, in between the embossed textured areas, as I expected this would give me the best chance of the mat's suction cups getting a good seal. I ran the shower briefly then stepped in the tub just to see if it would worked and all appeared wonderful at that point.. However, within about a week I found the mat would give me just enough traction to allow me to get one foot out of the tub and onto the bathroom floor (good so far), but then would instantly lose all usefulness as the suction cups directly underneath my foot slid along the fiberglass! One episode of nude splits over the edge of the tub was all I could handle of that nonsense!Enter Amazon and "Tub Grip": I thoroughly read reviews on anti-slip materials/ coating / solutions on Amazon and decided to give Tub Grip a chance. At this point I did NOT want to regret the purchase (not because of the price but rather because I was getting down right sick and tired of dealing with this situation as I was regularly concerned about my then pregnant wife every time she took a shower). So the instructions included were read and followed TO THE LETTER! The results have been nothing short of fantastic! I was timid at first because looking at the tub floor you could barely tell there was anything there at all after it was dry. However after having used it now for almost 3 months I can say with absolute confidence that this stuff does exactly what it advertised it would do!I was so impressed with it that when my aging parents just recently purchased a house with a walk in shower that has a fiberglass base I did not even think twice about ordering more of this and will again follow the instructions explicitly and expect that the results will provide my parents with a safe showering environment. 5Great so far/exactly what I was looking for...I was curious as to how it would really work and how course the texture really is, since I read many different reviews about it. I will say that I did an extremely thorough job of cleaning the tub prior to applying it and we used a second bathroom in order to give it a full 24 hours to dry before using it. This was applied to a standard-issue porcelain shower/tub. I despise and refuse to use those rubber mats ("old lady bathtub mats" as I call them) as they are just gross. I previously used the peel & stick strips, but to be effective you needed a lot of them. In fairness, I am reviewing the product only after 4 days of use. I will update this as time passes and I see longer-term results. But, at this point I am very impressed. It was easy to apply - many mentioned the difficulty of seeing where you've applied it as you're painting it on. That is true due to its clear color - but I just used a drop light (a flash light would work too) held on an angle to view the wet areas as I was doing it. It dries clear as well - which I was happy about. In my opinion, the surface is not too gritty to the touch - I find it to be a comfortable enough while still doing an effective job. I like how every area is covered so there are no "slick" spots. I applied it over the entire bottom surface and slightly up the inside corners of the tub. When finished I had about 1/4 of the bottle left. Who knows - I may have to re-apply it at some time in the future. As of now I am very pleased with the product. As for the price - it seems a bit high, but if I get a year out of it I will be pleased. I'll give it a few months and update this review accordingly.Update - June 2016: Product still effective after two months of 2 adult showers per day - although the length of my wife's showers should probably count as 2 :) 5Three years laterI purchased this product about 3 years ago and applied it to a almond color fiberglass stand up shower. After 3 years the texture is still good everywhere except where there is the heaviest foot traffic. There is enough product to do a small shower approximately 2 times, I just cleaned the floor as instructed again and only touched up the places that needed it using the same roller that I washed after use. There looks to be enough product to do this again.I highly recommend using a high intensity light ( like a painters light) to see exactly what you are doing. 4
