When I built my system I used the processor GPU and the 960 EVO received good airflow and stayed coolI have a Samsung 960 EVO mounted on my ASRock Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming K4/D3 motherboard. When I built my system I used the processor GPU and the 960 EVO received good airflow and stayed cool. Adding a graphics card covers the M.2 SSD slot with just a bit of space over it resulting in poor airflow and an overheating SSD. I placed the wider strip of thermal material on the motherboard and fitted the SSD back on the slot. It did not make contact with the thermal material. I added the thinner strip on top and still no contact. I added the two pieces of material I cut off to make the thermal material the correct length. Still no contact so I folded the entire stack over in half and it was just right. Before adding the Thermal Pads I would go about 2/3 of the way through ATTO Bench and then thermal and slow down with the HDD 2 monitor showing 100C. After adding the pad the benchmark completed and the temperature was 96C, still hot yet not throttling and my system stopped stuttering during day to day use.5Works with Samsung 950 proIt just works... And that is all anyone really asks for in a product like this. If anyone is wondering, yes this adapter did work with my Samsung 950 pro PCIe SSD (and I'm almost positive it would work with the SM951). I recently purchased a Gigabyte X99 SLI motherboard and needed one of these to use the full bandwidth of the drive as the M.2 port on the motherboard is PCIe gen2x2. Therefore bandwidth is limited to 10gb/s on the motherboards M.2 slot rather than a possible 32gb/s that the Samsung 950 pro has. I attached the drive to the adapter, plugged it in and it booted into windows right out of the box. After doing some tests, I was hitting ~800MB/s read and write over the motherboards M.2 port. However with this adapter, I was getting ~2GB/s read and ~900MB/s write with the 256GB model of the 950 pro, much more speed than before.5Works as intendedGreat set of thermal pads for the M.2 SSD's. I currently own the mydigitalssd 512gb m.2 and yes it does run fairly hot. According to my system, under load it hits in the mid 70's C at times. I applied the thermal pads and saw a 10 C drop in load temperatures so it definitely made a difference. I am by no means using any intricate instruments to measure the effectiveness of the pads, I am simply using resources I have on hand to make this conclusion.5Dropped Temps about 20 C with AICI have two NVMe drives, a WD Black 500GB and a Samsung 970 EVO 2TB. I wanted to keep my SATA ports to I ordered two QNINE M.2 NVME to PCIe Adapters and two of these SilverStone TP02-M2 heatsinks.Using the QNINE Adapters without the TP02-M2 heatsinks each drive would hit temps around 64 C when running ATTO Disk Benchmark and this is with good airflow in the case. Added the TP02-M2 heatsinks and it dropped the temps 19-20 C, drives never get over 45 C... wow!Make sure you use the thick pad between the back of the drive and the AIC positioned in between the silicone bands. It all goes together very nicely.I do have one big concern, will the sticky pads eventually damage the drives stickers and void their 5 year warranties? The pads are not super sticky but with the heat and time I guess we'll find out.Another concern is will the pads deteriorate or loose their heat conduction properties? Time will tell.For now I'm giving these 5 stars, If I ever have to warranty a drive or replace the pads I'll update this review with the results.5Very decent product and exelent services Comes with everything you need (screws and bolts and such), it even go's so far as to have 2 front plates, for shorted server boxes and normal PC case. Works very well from what the tests tell me and its quite easy to use, it comes with a manual and instructions for even the most retarded of users and even the box it comes in seems fairly well made. The only thing that is left now is the test of time, for now I can honestly say I'm very satisfied.The package was a few days late, when I tried to get answers Amazon immediately sent me another one with express shipping free of charge, the product is quite good, but Amazon's services are as always just amazing! You can really be sure that you're safe when buying from Amazon!Thank you 5Perfect PCIe solution for M.2 Factor drivesI bought this since I was intending to replace my 2.5" Patriot Blast SSD that crashed with a Samsung 970 EVO M.2 drive. Knowing I did not have an M.2 slot on my board the SilverStone Technology M.2 PCIE Adapter for SATA or PCIE NVMe SSD with Advanced Thermal Solution (ECM22) seemed like a great option allowing for use of the newer style M.2 drives on a PCIe lane AND it has an extra slot to use the last generation of M.2 drives as a SATA drive.My only issues I had were not related to this card but to configuring the drive through my BIOS and getting it to boot properly. My system immediately identified the drive as connected with this card I just had to get creative about getting Windows 10 to install and boot from my Samsung 970 EVO that was attached.I ended up creating a UEFI Bootable Windows 10 USB install drive and did a fresh install to the connected 970 EVO. Once Windows 10 was installed I was able to reconnect my other drives and set the PCIe slotted EVO 970 as the boot drive and my system started up lighting fast without so much as a hiccup.5BEWARE-CAUTION DO NOT USE THIS THERMAL PAD!Worthless heat pad. Non sticky. Heatsink immediately falls off. Nearly shorted out & fried my motherboard. CAUTION DO NOT USE THIS THERMAL PAD! MAY CAUSE A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE!Tried to use on my XPG7000 NVMe SSD, old heatsink thermal pad failed. So ordered this one as was long enough for a M.2 2280 SSD. But, I immediately noticed it had VERY little tackiness to either side of thermal pad. Thought maybe it needed to "CURE" as some do. But, even after 24hrs, as soon as I installed the SSD in the system. Sitting sideways, the VERY light / thin stock heat plate falls off onto other electronics. Which would have shorted out my entire system had it been running. DO NOT USE!!1Motherboard killerInstalled this Friday night with a Samsung Evo 960 Pro. Early Saturday afternoon, my motherboard died. Swapped out the motherboard for a spare Sunday morning, Tuesday evening that motherboard died as well. This will kill your computer, do not use it1Substantial M.2 heatsink (beware the silicone bands)I like the product, and it keeps my 970 EVO Plus much cooler than using it without a heatsink, but like some others here, one of the bands snapped when I stretched it just a bit to put on the product. I was careful, but it did not take much at all for it to rip. In the end, I had to use electrical tape on one side to get the product installed on my drive and installed in the PC.I personally think the bands would be better if they were all the same thickness (my band ripped right where the textured pattern is at its lowest point). As far as the temperatures I get using this product, without a heatsink my 970 EVO Plus would idle at 48c and at load would hit 73c (drive is directly in front of a fan). With the heatsink installed, my idle temps are 39c while the load temperature only hits 57c.4It just works, but for one NVMe card onlyThis worked fine to put a Samsung 970 Pro SSD in my desktop PC. The card goes into a PCIeX4 (or higher) slot and Windows 10 picked it up without my having to do anything. The "Dual" aspect needs some care in addressing if you don't read carefully. While one M.2 slot supports NVMe drives such as the Samsung 970, the other slot will accept only SATA-interface drives and then it will work only if you connect a SATA cable from your motherboard to the connector on the card. So if you were hoping for a solution that would take two NVMe cards, this isn't it.I have no complaints about the adapter at all - it just works. I'll comment that the M.2 slots have enough room for SSDs that have components on the back of the card, though the Samsungs don't.5Dropped NVNe temps by 8-10CInstalled NVMe was @28C at idle, 48C during sustained writes.Installed the thinner thermal pad ( NVMe had components on both sides, requires thinner pad...nice they include both thin and thick pads for those with single side component NVMe drives ) .Idle temp dropped to 20C, sustained write temp dropped to 38C...a nice 8-10C drop on the low and high end.I had no issues @48C, this was just a new build I wanted everything running at the lowest temp possible.5
