Customer Reviews

Need Better Quality ControlI would give these 5 stars except the bottom purple cap fell off of one of the filters and I was hesitant to use household glue to reattach, being it's a water filter. That made it a bit tricky to hold it in place while installing. I noticed by reading other reviews that this appears to be an ongoing issue. Other than that, they looked to be of the same construction as the originals and are doing the job.I would buy again. 4Pass these over!Since putting these in, water production went way down. They are too restrictive, no where near as good as the original replacement. 1They fit the older whirpool RO systemsI was glad to find these filters. I was afraid that I was going to have to replace my entire unit which I don't want to do because mine still works fine. 5Don't. You really do get what you pay for, at least with this product. Buy the Sears brand. Before I ordered these replacement filters for my Sears Kenmore UltraFilter 500 Reverse Osmosis under-sink water filtration system, I read through all the reviews about this product - and wondered if the competitors seeded the list with negative reviews to stop customers from choosing the cheaper product. There were many comments that, although being positive with 3-5 stars, said their water flow began to slow down and even stopped flowing completely, after 3-6 months. They wrote it as if to state that it was normal and expected - as it's recommended by all RO Water Filter companies to change out the filters every 6 months. But for all the decades I've owned and maintained RO filter systems, my water never stopped flowing or even slowed down - not once. That shouldn't happen - period. You may get dirty water, and the taste isn't as good as a new filter, but it shouldn't slow down or stop all together. That's just ridiculous. But I figured I would go ahead and save a few bucks and try out the cheap replacement filters for a change instead of buying the tried and true, top quality, most expensive Sears brand charcoal carbon bloc replacement filters like I usually do.So I received the order as promised. No critique in that regard. But when I began to read the package and literature, and then instructions, the first clue I had that these were of inferior quality, from a vendor/supplier that doesn't know squat about drinking water filtration systems, is the direction to place silicone sealant on the rubber gasket of the cartridge and cartridge housing to prevent leaks. I've owned multiple brands of under-sink Reverse Osmosis water filtration systems and I also have a whole-house filter inline just after my well storage tank in the basement - and they all say to use vegetable oil or other safe food-grade oil on the rubber gaskets. Not silicone sealant. I want to be able to remove the filter the next time I change it, don't you? And I don't want to drink silicone, do you?So then I removed the first cartridge from the plastic wrapping and following the instruction, I placed it in the empty housing and placed the housing under the faucet and turned on the water to medium-cold with a gentle pressure, (not fast, full-open), to flush it for the recommended minimum of five minutes. I picked up the filter by the top plastic end to rearrange it so the water would soak into it and noticed the plastic netting that is wrapped around the filter was immediately slipping and sliding out and off the filter. That has never happened with all the other replacement filter cartridges I've purchased (charcoal carbon bloc style). And furthermore, these are at least 5-10 cm smaller in diameter (just eye-balling it) as well as a good 1 or 2 ounces - (probably more) lighter than the Sears brand replacement cartridges that I usually purchase - granted for much more money. But there is truth in the phrase "you get what you pay for." Boy am I regretting this purchase! Coconut shell carbon????? What the heck is that?So I will go ahead and finish flushing the cartridge, and install it, but I will never buy this type of cartridge from this company, ever again. 1Didn't work at all for us.Not sure how many people had this problem, but with our Sears reverse osmosis system, these filters clogged up and rendered the system essentially useless. After removing one of these that was a prefilter, the system began turning out water again. We had to put it back on so as not to ruin the membrane filter. We're back to a malfunctioning system that turns out very little water. (We troubleshot every other conceivable reason for the reduced pressure and flow, and with everything else coming up as not the problem, we are left to assume that it was these filters.) We're now awaiting the ridiculously expensive replacements from Sears that we had used successfully prior to ordering these replacement filters. 1Two StarsTHESE FILTER ARE COSTLY AND ONLY LAST ME FOR 4 MONTHS, IT PROBABLY CHEAPER TO HAVE WATER SHIPPED IN 2Replacement Filter for Kenmore ROI have been using these filter cartridges in my Kenmore RO system for some time and am totally happy with there performance. Much less expensive then the OEM units and fit perfectly. There are others out there but I landed on these and was satisfied and they do the job I needed, so I use them every time now! 5As recommended by the Sears manual replaced the slimline filters at ...Purchased 2 sets of these slimline filter along with the RO membrane filter. As recommended by the Sears manual replaced the slimline filters at six-month interval. Pressure from RO system was substantially reduced. Assumed the problem maybe related to the RO membrane unit getting older but it wasn't due to be changed out for another six months. Lived with the flow rate on the RO system until the next six months and at that time change all three filters. At this time the flow on the RO System improved to its previous flow rate. My assumption is that both the slimline filters and the membrane filters are of lesser quality. Not really sure whether I will purchase again from fast filters due to potential of inferior quality units. The picture show him on Amazon matches the original unit when purchased. The units from fast filters does not match previously purchased units and shown on Amazon. 2Unhappy with performanceWe ordered 2 sets of replacement filters. The first set did not work at all. There wasn't enough pressure in the RO faucet after installing them. It would stop running after a few gallons of water. We put back in the original Sears filters to see if there was a problem with our RO system and it worked fine with the old Sears filters. We then installed the other set of filters that we purchased and they worked but not as well as the filters bought through the Sears store. Even though the Sears filters are more expensive, we know that they work. We e-mailed the company and told them that they didn't work but they said they hadn't received any complaints about them. Their return policy said that the filters had to be in their originial packaging and there might be a restocking fee, in addition to paying the return postage. It didn't seem worth the aggravation. We will not be ordering them again. 1Very good.Every year I say I'm going to replace the whole filter system. January comes around and I end up just replacing the filters. I replace the reverse osmosis portion about every five years. Perfectly clean water. Tastes as good or better than any bottled water. 5
