Customer Reviews

Seagate bought Samsung and Seagate clasified these drives as refurbished ...Seagate bought Samsung and Seagate clasified these drives as refurbished even though I believe they are new. I bough 28 of these drives in the last 45 days to fill up 2 RAID6 volumes. I bought the extended warranty and those people say they will cover after 1 year but not before. 1 HDD died so I tried to warranty with Samsung and Jim from Seagate answered the phone and gave me the no warranty story. Amazon tried to help and I replied to Amazon's email with part number and serial number and I have not heard anything back. 1Works Great in PS4Product arrived packed well with bubble wrap and an anti-static bag. I installed this drive in my PS4 a couple months ago and have had a great experience with it. Loading times have not really improved over the stock Samsung drive, but that doesn't bother me. I bought this primarily because it seemed to be a good space/dollar value. Installation took about ten minutes to remove the case and hard drive cage. Plenty of videos to do that online. 5500GB sounds like a lot until you actually start using the systemThis hard drive was just the item needed for the new PS4. I question why Playstation does not offer an upgrade feature for such. As a gamer I am always concerned that these new consoles and games will take up too much space. 500GB sounds like a lot until you actually start using the system. This was a easy choice. As for performance it's been great, no slow downloads, my games are ready very quickly and I can save more without the fear of reaching a limit anytime soon. It took me about 15 minutes to change out the hard drive, mostly because I was extra careful with the console itself. Then loaded up the OS and was ready to go in about 25 minutes overall. I suggest switching out HD before you do a lot of game play so you don't have to reload from the cloud. 5Upgraded my PS4 hard drive from 500gb to 2TB with this drive, easy simple process works like a champ very happy :)I bought a PS4 about 6 months ago, I quickly filled the 500gb drive inside it and was frustrated as I would see new demos or games and I had to choose what to delete to add a game. I saw a video on youtube showing the process of removing the old drive, putting the new drive in and using a ps4 update file via usb drive to reload the PS4's essential core files to basically start over but this time with a 2tb drive.I followed the steps took about 15 mins and bam I was back up and running fully with the new 2tb drive in place, I then went in and started to download my key games and haven't looked back ;) The process on this was fast painless and very nice end result, so if you want more space on your ps4 this is the answer ;)If you aren't sure how to do this just google PS4 Hard Drive Replacement, or visit the playstation website there are walkthru's there too with the needed ps4update file that you just install on any flash drive to prep the new drive once it's in the ps4. 5I worked for a year in my PS4, then started to slowly dieI bought this drive in December 2014 to upgrade my PS4. I have the white console that came with Destiny, and it all went good until a month ago, when I started to have in-game and menu crashes. The menu had been actually pretty slow for a while, which I thought was kinda normal for the PS4 after a time of use. Articles on Playstation forum said that using the option to re-create the database worked as a sort of defragmentation (like you would do in a PC), so if you did that, everything would be fixed. Which it was, for a while. This slow thing started to happen more frequently, until it just didn't work at all. Menu crashed right after the console turned on, and i had to reset. Once it went into the safe mode loop, which made me initialize the console. That fixed the issue... until it happened again like 3 hours later.By this point it was obvious that something was seriously wrong. Issue was that some games (even those installed in the hard drive) worked fine. This made me doubt the HD was the problem, but then eventually I did more specific test and: disc games worked, until I updated them. Uncharted 4 would never load (it tried to load the second level for half an hour, until it did, then it crashed), MGS V would play without update. After update, would crash every time before loading. When downloads started to take a long time to start (start, not even download), I knew it was time to change. And after I did, for a very regular western digital 1TB disc, everything worked fine, like day one. No issues so far.I'm giving this 3 points because, for a while, it did work. It could be just that I had bad luck and a defective product. But I see only positive or negative reviews after a short time of use, and I think my case could be appreciated by other people. I had it in my PS4 for 15 months before it failed, probable 10 before the first symptoms. My Ps4 has never had any other issues, no power outage, no misuse. And this started to happen very slowly, over a period of time. So, be advised. 3Got it for PS4 since theyre coming out with so many awesome games! The PS4 keeps coming out with amazing games, yet before I bought this I had the stock PS4 HDD (500GB). Nope, you need to upgrade your HDD if you still have the stock PS4 HDD. 2TB has been a worthwhile upgrade especially with having a PlayStation Plus subscription. The HDD installation process in a nutshell:1. If you are like me and didn't want to lose anything on your old HDD, this is what you do. Get some form of storage whether it be a USB or external hard-drive connection. This storage unit has to be formatted so that the PS4 can read it and back up your old data to it (to transfer it to the new one later, which means less time redownloading). Now you go into system settings and to the backup feature and selection a full backup or individual files.2. Install the new HDD after backing up data and turning off PS4. Boot up the PS4 and go back to settings and restore the data you backed up to your other HDD or USB.That's a quick summary of how the process goes for you PS4 users out there, which seems to be a lot of people looking at this product. 5SOLID hard drive that works great for your PS4 storage upgradeWorks as advertised to upgrade your PS4. Easy as pie to install and came inside a few days in the mail. Solid hard drive without a doubt so far. I recommend this even if you plan on buying the NYKO attachment to expand storage in a few months when it is likely to be released. 4 times the storage for $100 is well worth the price. Just make sure you use a 32GB or smaller flash drive to install the Playstation OS. 64GB and higher uses an incompatible formatting that cannot be changed. 5Works For PS4I got this drive because my original 500gb drive filled up. After the os install on the PS4, I was left with 1.72TB. 3 times the original size. This drive is much more quiet, just about the same speed as the original drive, and such an easy install.Recommended for anyone looking to upgrade their 500gb hdd to a 2tb one. Fits the PS4 perfectly. 5Bought a Samsung, Got a Seagate...Bought this because it said Samsung drive. Received a Seagate drive. I really needed this to replace a failing drive, the only Seagate I own. In classic Seagate fashion this new drive died during 1TB data transfer. Seagate makes absolute garbage drives. Don't buy this one or any other unless you like frustration and losing data. This one is going back for refund and a better brand. 1Great drive for switching out the HDD in your PS4The husband and I were looking for a good budget hard drive to switch out the current 500gb hard drive in our PS4. After doing some searching online, we came across this model. The reviews looked good, and we took a gamble on this unit, especially for the price. The hard drive came quickly, and was packaged well enough to make me feel as if I wasn't worried about the product being defective. After reading the instructions on switching out a hard drive for the PS4 online, my husband set to work. All in all, it was an easy enough process, and this hard drive went in with little to no problems. When we booted the PS4 the first time, it took quite a bit of time for all of the files to load and the PS4 to configure, but that's what you get for going with a HDD and not a SSD.Our PS4 did shut down randomly once and had to reconfigure, but I'm not sure if it had anything to do with the hard drive. It was more likely to do with the process of transferring files from the old unit, but I figured that I'd mention it here just in case. We've been using this drive for over a month with no problems. It's a fantastic budget hard drive that is fantastic for using with the PS4. I highly recommend it. 5
