iPad Mini 4 screen will not turn off (lock) when closed! I purchased this case because it said (in the product name) for an iPad mini 4. While the package came with a "shell" for an iPad Mini 1,2,3 and a separate "shell" for the iPad Mini 4 that's where the compatibility stops. I should note that the shell fit my iPad Mini 4 very very well, and was a nifty way of attaching to a portfolio and the adjustable angle was nice.This was all negated by the fact that the screen would not turn off when the portfolio was closed. I emailed technical support and after sending over multiple copies of the receipt, photos of the iPad Mini 4 with the screen still on and the cover closed and checking numerous times that the feature was turned on in general settings they finally told me to just return the item to amazon because it "must be defective".Just for "fun" i took my ipad mini to the apple store and tried their smart cover and the screen did lock when closed. I double checked again when i got home with the Roo case and it did NOT lock (no settings changes in between the apple store and my home).Overall: This case is well made and has a nifty attachment mechanism to shed some of the portfolio weight and heft when sitting on the couch reading (you can just remove the outer portfolio and leave the shell attached to your iPad) but the fact that the iPad doesn't go to sleep when the portfolio is attached and closed was a deal breaker for me since i throw the iPad in my bag and go on my way; i really don't want to have to remember the power button every time i close the portfolio.If Roo wants to comment on whether this happens with all units or mine was an anomaly I would be very interested in trying it again but really don't want to have to return another item. i couldn't get a straight answer out of their technical support rep. whether this affects all cases or just the one i had. 2it holds the iPad mini 4 in vertical and horizontal positions so you can easily use it hands free This is a very well made case. Slim and light, as advertised, it holds the iPad mini 4 in vertical and horizontal positions so you can easily use it hands free. The dimpled surface holds the iPad in place quite well. The rear plastic frame fits snuggly with all the openings well placed. The only caveat---the opening for the charge cable connector is just a bit too small for any but Apple's charge cord. I bought a longer cord from Amazon Basics--it's an excellent charge cord but it has a larger plug--and that plug is too big for this case. Not a deal-breaker for me, because otherwise this is excellent--and at a very good price. Strongly recommended 4Thick but great and versatile! Thus far this case has been great! I love the rich purple color. It was easy to put on (note: you get two versions of the black iPad holder that attaches to the colored case: one for the original iPad Mini, one for the Mini 4. Check the edge cutouts for the microphones and buttons to see which one you need) and is easy to take the plastic case on and off of the colored case. When attached it rotates easily (though does not free rotate, it rotates in 30 degree increments). The sticky pad to hold up the ipad work really well and allow more customability depending on the viewing angle that you need for your unique situation and lighting. Overall it does add a lot of thickness to the iPad (I'm guessing it's 1/2 - 3/4" including iPad) but is a great case! 5Excellent Case, but Only for an iPad Mini 4 The roocase Orb Folio 360 for iPad Mini 4 is an excellent case. I chose the grey option and it has a very professional look. It's a case that I feel good about carrying my iPad out to restaurants, meet-ups, or any thing really. The case keeps the iPad secured and protected. This case is perfect for business or casual use.I use my iPad in a variety of situations, which makes it hard for me to decide on a case for my tablets. There are some situations where I prefer my tablet in a case, such as when I'm at a restaurant or at a desk. I want to keep my device protected, but also be able to prop it open and view content. Other situations, however, I prefer not to have my iPad covered in a clunky case, like when I'm running on the treadmill and the spot for a tablet is not capable of being used with a case/cover. The ORB system from roocase is the best of both worlds. It has the outer shell that is perfect for carrying my device around to public places or propping it up to watch content at my desk, but it also has a more form-fitting hard shell that can be detached when I want to carry my iPad around from room to room or use it in a spot like previously mentioned on my treadmill.The hard case is minimal in bulk, but will protect my iPad in case of an accidental drop. It can be attached/detached from the outer shell using the ORB button. Just squeeze the ORB button and the hard shell with iPad detaches. There is a hand strap attached to the hard shell to help prevent accidental drops and typing stands that fold out if you need to prop the device up to type on screen. The button cutouts on the hard shell are precise and allow full use of all buttons/ports. Reattaching the hard shell to the outer shell is as easy as pushing the hard shell down on top of the ORB button, which will allow the hard shell to click into place securely.When attached, the hard shell can rotate in a full 360 degrees to allow for portrait or landscape viewing. The edge of the outer shell has rows of small rubber bumps that allow you to stand the iPad in either orientation. The bumps keep the bottom of the iPad from slipping out. There is also three slots on the inside of the case for storing business cards or small notes, which is a nice added touch. The case closes with a magnetic closure that allows the iPad to sleep or wake. Add in a lifetime warranty and you've got everything you could want in a tablet case.I'm very impressed with this case. It has a nice premium feel and will work in a lot of situations I could find myself in. The only problem I had was that I have an iPad Mini 2. I realize the title says "iPad Mini 4", but the size options clearly show "iPad Mini 4 / Mini 3 2 1". The outer shell will obviously work with any version of iPad Mini, but the hard shell is the problem. Mine was shipped with hard shell that only fit a iPad Mini 4 due to the precision of button cutouts. I expected this to ship with shell that would work for a Mini 4 and a shell for previous Mini models. I contacted Amazon support and they were awesome as usual, and sent me a full replacement since they couldn't just send the hard shell that fit my Mini version, but the replacement came in with the same hard shell option. I contacted roocase support (who were equally as awesome to work with), but they were unable to send me the part I needed since I didn't purchase the case from their website. In the end, I had to find the hard shell that fit my Mini version elsewhere. I thought about taking a star off, but didn't feel that was fair. The title does say "iPad Mini 4" and the case really is excellent. I didn't want to bring it down for something that wasn't the case's issue. The problem is that the sizing options listed on Amazon's site is misleading.In closing, I do highly recommend this case, but expect to only use it for an iPad Mini 4 as the title says. 5Very nice craftsmanship, great protection! I was surprised at the quality, the cover is really beautiful for a faux leather look. The inside holds my Ipad, no problem and very securely, I don't have to take it out to charge it, or hook up earbuds. It also comes with a magnetic clasp that stays shut! It comes with a bonus holder that is made for when you are handling your ipod, so it's protected and you don't accidentally drop it, I am loving this! 5Great case for iPad mini 4 I've used this case daily since I bought it almost a year ago, and it shows no signs of wear. It is of excellent quality, and I very much prefer it to the Targus case that I reviewed separately. I've never liked Apple's cases, because they seem flimsy and generally inadequate (and extremely overpriced). This case from rooCASE provides great protection, and I like how you can easily remove the leather cover part while reading to minimize weight, leaving the device still protected by the solid plastic part. The strap comes in very handy and has prevented several accidental drops. This is certainly the best case I've been able to find for the iPad mini 4. It's so well designed and made that I can't think of anything negative to say about it. 5Camera Obstruction NOT A Problem, Can Be Avoided I've had this case for a week, and so far so good. Everything seems to work as described. It has all the features advertised, plus one I didn't know about: it came with the advertised removable frame with hand strap for an iPad mini 4, PLUS A BONUS: another such frame that is a bit smaller that probably fits the iPad 1 through 3. So it SEEMS that if you order one of these cases for your mini 1-3, and upgrade to the mini 4 after a while, you'll not need to buy a new case; just put the mini 4 in its frame and swap frames in the case. You could even use both minis in this case by swapping back and forth. I didn't like the magenta color that I apparently erroneously ordered; I thought I had ordered a different color. The magenta is too feminine for this 70-year-old male. So Amazon offered to exchange it. I selected brown, which I like a lot. AND, Amazon shipped the new case to me overnight, free of charge. I may be charged for sending the magenta one back; not so good since I didn't know I was ordering magenta. Make sure you have your chosen color selected before you place your order. Also, yes, when opened like a book the case's front camera hole infringes upon the right upper and lower corners of the front (non-selfie) camera. BUT, THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM. All one needs do is open the case, fold the front 360 degrees to the left so it is now lies flush against the back (or base), then rotate the mini in the case 90 degrees clockwise so it is in portrait (vertical) mode . Now the camera lens on the vertically positioned mini is ABOVE the horizontally positioned case and the lens is TOTALLY UNOBSTRUCTED. No problem. My only other request is that it lasts a few years. Time will tell. 5It fits the Mini 4 My son has used this rooCASE for quite a while with his iPad Mini 2 and loves it. When he upgraded to a Mini 4, he really wanted the same case again, however, I was a hesitant about purchasing it on Amazon because the option for this products lists it as Mini 4/3-2-1. I knew the cases were different sizes so I wasn't certain what we would receive. (I shopped around and read many reviews of other products that complained about cases not actually fitting the 4.) We were very pleasantly surprised when we received the case containing TWO inner shells-- one that fits the 4 and one that fits the 3-2-1. My kiddo is extremely happy and I'm glad I don't have to deal with returning anything. The price is good and it is an attractive, versatile case. An all-around win for us. 5Premium functionality at a fabulous price I'm on my 3rd iPad, and I've been through tons of styles of cases and covers over 7 or 8 years. The easel feature is very important to me, as is portability and durability. This one has it all.While not 100% perfect, the case's stops (rubberish grippy bumps) give more reliability and flexibility of angle than the cases with grooves. With other cases, I've had issues with the weight of the iPad in portrait slipping out of grooves. While this case does allow some "creep" in portrait orientation, it's infinitely better than the pop-and-plop slip of the grooved cases.The 360 rotation of this case is great, and has click stops to help lock in the angle. It's been an adjustment for me to get used to the click stops as the movement isn't smooth (for obvious reasons), but I much prefer it to cases that allow free rotation and go where I didn't ask them to.In the I-didn't-know-I-needed-it-until-I-had-it-department, a most unique feature is that the slim profile cradle is removable from the case. This allows me to use my iPad without the case, carry it in a smaller slip case, hold it using the back elastic hand strap, or transfer it to another roocase without taking the iPad out of the cradle. I hate prying my electronics out of rigid cradles, but I want variety in the color, texture, and functionality of my cases. Sweet!After using the roocase many times over 2 weeks, I was so sold that I bought a second one. I'm not ruling out more. I'm more pleased with this product than any other easel case I've used (some costing 2-3 times more).The only drawback I would mention is that the inside of the cover seems to be leaving little flakes of material in the screen. It wipes off the screen fine and may be a temporary thing. All in all not a big deal, but in the interest of full disclosure, there you are.I haven't used the keyboard feet, so I can't attest to the quality or stability of those.Highly recommended. 5RooCASE Orb Folio 360 - A great option for iPad mini 4 I spend hours looking for an iPad mini case. I looked at this case several times and almost passed it up because of reviews that the case was not really for iPad mini 4. I contacted the company about the case and got an immediate reply that it did in fact fit the mini 4 because the ship 2 plastic backings - one for an iPad mini 4 and the other for iPad mini 3.The case has arrived and I couldn't be happier. It DOES fit the iPad mini and it has all the features I wanted in a case. It's really two cases in one. The price is extremely reasonable. I highly recommend this case.So if you want a case that has a hand strap, rotates from portrait to landscape easily, can adjust to multiple angles, is not bulky, protects your iPad, has an plastic case that easily pops out of the stand/cover to use during a presentation, has the cutouts in the right places, this is a case you need to seriously consider. 5
