Customer Reviews

Already prevented some stripped out screws So far this impact driver has worked well. I have used it to remove several phillips head screws on my motorcycle that a screw driver didn't seem to want to get out. The quality seems adequate for a home mechanic, but it doesn't seem like it would hold up to daily use for a pro. 4Me and my 19620I'm just a home do it yourselfer so bought the 19620 on impulse.I got it on Thursday and as I put it away, thought "I will probably never use this."On Friday, I removed a old door and one hinge had all four screws in the jamb where all of the screws had stripped heads. Without the 19620, I would have had to pry off the hinge. That would have meant major damage and extensive repairs would have been needed.I got out the 19620 and went to work. A few minutes later, I was hanging the new door and was also thinking how happy I was with the impact driver set. If I never use it again, it was worth it for that one time.5Saved a bunch of timeSo I bought this tool for a brake job, I saw it in a youtube video I was watching, it helps to remove the pesky screws that hold on the rotor. (There are 2 screws that they install during the vehicles manufacture to hold the disc on before the brakes/wheels are installed.) In the past a buddy of mine said he either drills them out or torches them if they are rusted in and won't come out with a screwdriver. So I decided to give this tool a shot. I'm glad I did, with a few hard hits with a hammer these bolts loosened on 7 of the 8 screws on the car. The last screw we still had to drill out, so that's why I give it a 4 out of 5 stars, plus a few took some really good whacks to get them loose. I would definitely recommend the tool to anyone doing a disc brake job and need to get those assembly screws out.4Alright past one useI used it for the one thing I needed it for, we'll see how it holds up over time. The direction of the turn was rather confusing to figure out though and I had it spinning the wrong way for five minutes. Quite counterproductive when trying to loosen a stuck screw. But it seems it should hold up well enough over time. I also purchased extra bits for it to be on the safe side but no damage to the included bits as of yet.4The driver is good, but the bits are garbageThe only reason I'm giving this 3 stars and not less is because the driver itself is pretty decent, and comes in a nice little metal case for storage. The bits, on the other hand, and low quality garbage and should not be used. Ignoring other reviews, I decided to give them a try anyway, and the end of the #3 Phillips bit twisted off and basically melded with the head of the rotor retention screw on my TL's brake rotor. I ruined three drill bits attempting to drill that screw out, and ended up needing an air chisel to remove it (good thing I was replacing the rotor at the time). So, my suggestion would be to go to Sears and buy their impact bits. They're significantly better than these, and only cost $2-3/each.3Impact driver valueI bought this thinking of all of the screw heads I have ruined over the years and how I've used the old hacksaw a flat slot trick to extract them. This sounded right, so I bought it for future use. Well, it wasn't long till I had my test for it. I bought a chipper/shredder and the first time I had to remove the blades I found the screws hopelessly too tight. I know when an allen wrench is about to cam out of a slot and this would never have removed the screw. I tried good quality penetrating oil and still no luck. I ordered the bits to fit through Amazon, and when they arrived, I used this driver to get the screws out with very little difficulty. The impact shock combined with the effect of driving the bit safely down into the socket at the same moment as the torque works beautifully. Put one of these in your tool kit to save your bacon some day. Price is very reasonable.4GOOD TOOLI had used a similar tool at a auto hobby shop and decided to buy one for myself. This tool along with some good penetrating lubricant will get those stubborn two screws that hold the rotors for my 2003 Honda Accord off like a charm. All it took was a couple of hard hits to unscrew them without any damage to the screws (I ended up using the same screws back with the new rotors).Has a good solid feel to it and seems like its made from good material. Good tool to have in your tool chest!!5Excellent driver but know thisThis is an excellent functioning impact driver, I've now used about 50 times and works very well. Its rated to deliver 200 lb ft torque. You can switch between tightening and loosening easily. It is very sturdy and I feel confidence it will work for a while. You should keep in mind that1. The default bits are 3/8 in drive shafts which means they are incompatible with any of your current bits.2. The black adaptor can slip off leaving a 1/2 in head for mating with any sockets.4Thank goodness it works! This thing worked great, and was way heavier (more substantial) than I figured it would be given the price. I had to remove the brass body screws from a carburetor, and they were corroded in badly - I tried everything but I figured I would be vise-gripping or dremeling them into oblivion. But this thing got them out with a couple smacks on each one. I was very impressed and this thing is going on the top shelf of the toolbox.5Broken bitsLike other reviewers mentioned the bits break. It worked great up until they broke. Maybe you get what you pay for... Now I have to find replacement bits for this. They are not a standard size, so I was left to drill out the stripped screw that was a result of the broken bit. Cost me another $25 for the tap and die set plus it wasn't easy finding a replacement screw for my rotor. I wouldn't have been able to get the job done if it weren't for previous metal working experience. I wouldn't recommend this unless you have all the tools (and back-up tools). It added hours to the job driving around trying to find this.2Stop screwing around with stripped screws and get this.Well made quality tool that is indispensable for backyard mechanics. I've used this well over a dozen times so far and it has held up well and worked as advertised. A must have to remove certain screws and fasteners on autos. It comes in a metal case that fits the tool and the bits perfectly.5
