Fantastic sound, easy installation, great middle and high soundsThese are my first in-wall speakers I've ever owned. Our space is very small (we're building a tiny house) and we needed to save as much space as possible. I put these up in the wall and reinforced them with a 1/2" plywood, the "feet" of the speakers hold very firmly in place when you screw from the outside.I can confirm they fit in 2x4 construction and they sound GREAT. We bought a pair of Klipsch bookshelf speakers to pair with these, but the Klipsch just sound high and flat compared to these speakers. The speakers have great range, and when you're standing between them it's a concert like experience. There are new sounds in my favorite songs I have not heard before until purchasing these speakers.Installation is easy too, they come with a cardboard template you can trace around your existing wall or ceiling. It doesn't need to be a perfect cut because the border of the speakers end up hiding any jagged edges.We paired these with a bluetooth amplifier and we could not be happier with the results. So happy in fact the reason I'm posting this review is because I'm revisiting this page to buy another pair for the front of the house.Definitely would recommend these speakers, the 8" cone makes such a difference in sound quality and we're very happy customers. 5Great value for the money.Ask any audiophile what kind of ceiling speaker you should get and they will say, "don't get ceiling speakers, dumb a%#,"I love music and like surround sound and these things serve their purpose. These are great for most of us human beings and look better than a bunch of four foot tall black boxes in our living rooms.Installation was relatively easy. The manual suggests sticking a cork screw in the middle of the speaker grille to remove it, so I did. Ruined that grille in the process by warping the hole I pulled on. The best way to remove grille is to slightly lift (with corkscrew) on the very edge hole and then rotate, pick another hole and lift some more (like opening a can of paint, but slowly).I called Polk to get a new grille to replace the one I ruined expecting to pay a few bucks but they sent me one for free! 5Still sounds good after 10 year.Still cranking out music and movies over the last 10 years. I have 5 of these mounted in ceiling as the surround speakers for a 7.1 system. They still sound great since I installed them in 2007. 5Rocking the lanai with theseI wanted to upgrade my sound system out on my lanai by the hot tub. I've been running a dot connected to a powered speaker. I started looking at bluetooth packages then stumbled upon these. I'm not very handy so I wimped out on mounting them in the ceiling and put them in speaker boxes. Even though the box was made for 8 inch speakers I had to widen the hole to mount them. I butchered the holes a little but managed to mount them without air leaks. I am running them with a firetv feeding the signal to a small bluetooth amp 100wx2. They crank out pretty good over the hot tub running. I am very happy with them. 5Great sounding in ceiling speakers!When our house was built, we had it pre-wired for ceiling speakers. We just didnt have the builder over charge us to install cheap speakers. I've owned Polk bookshelf speakers and I love the sound of them. Very crisp/clear highs. So I bought these w/o listening to them first. My assumptions were correct that Polk puts quality in all their speakers big and small. These were easy to install and they sound fantastic. Perfect highs and mids, and a decent amount of bass from a small speaker. Very happy with this purchase and highly recommend. 5Very happy, they need a little break-in to sound their bestKind of surprised they live up to the hype. I'm an 'audiophile' but also I have realistic expectations for outdoor wall-mounted speakers. I bought these to mount on my covered patio, high on a wall.For outdoor in-wall/in-ceiling speakers in a non-ideal location, these sound very nice. Relaxed and smooth midrange and good bass. At first listen they were 'just ok', kind of hard and muffled sounding, but they broke in after a day of playing at a moderately loud volume and opened up a bit.. which is typical .. but it was still a little unexpected for me.So, give 'em a good crank and let them play for a day or 2 before you evaluate them critically.I don't understand why you'd use a spring-clip speaker input for these. Simple spades would be better. I prefer to solder something going in a ceiling or wall... spring clips are for good if you disconnect/reconnect more often... and also makes it impossible to weather seal. Minus 1 star for the stupid spring clip terminals. 4High quality speakers for ambient musicInstalled these in the kitchen. They were well packaged, easy to install, and have durable construction. The aimable tweeter is a nice feature. These speakers can't replicate the sound quality of bookshelf speakers or freestanding monitors, but that's not really what these are for. Low end frequencies are missing, because it's not a subwoofer. It's great for in-home casual audio solutions. Listening to music in the kitchen, bathroom, or garage is a great use for these speakers. I would not suggest installing them in a home theater setup, you'll need to spend a lot more to get speakers up to that task. 4Very Impressive Speakers!I purchased six of these speakers (3 pairs) along with the Polk Audio 255C-RT center channel speaker to switch my surround sound set up from traditional floor/shelve speakers to in-ceiling. Bought these based on reading Amazon reviews and not wanting to pay at least twice as much for Bose. They speakers are fantastic, sound like a dream. Very easy to install once you plot out where to locate them. I had the advantage of an attic space above my great room to ensure there were no obstructions in my preferred locations, so I was able to do a self install project. Turned out beautifully! I HIGHLY recommend these speakers. 5Excellent Sounding RC60i SpeakersI had to get the 6.5" version of this speaker due to room size/joists spacing. They sound great with plenty of volume and bass. They make perfect rears for 5.1 system. A very impressive feature is the mounting system, which consists of 4 "flags" that swing into position when the screws are tightened. Push the metal speaker cover/grill into place and it's done. I suggest using a drywall circle cutter/scribe and a drywall hand saw to make perfect holes. Included is a decent template. No need for power hole saws which can make a mess. (P.S. Get the 8" speaker if it will fit. However, the 6.5" are fine for a smaller room size, as in my case.) 5A great purchaseI bought these speakers without listening to them at the store. Just installed them today for in-ceiling speakers in a 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos setup. These speakers sound great! I haven't been able to hear any Dolby Atmos content yet, but I did listen to Rihanna's "Damonds" and I was super impressed. I disconnected all other speakers except for these Polks and the sound filled my living room nicely! They get pretty loud without distorting. I was pretty impressed by the bass too. Does it sound better when you add in the subwoofer? Oh yes. But for the low cost of these speakers, they sound excellent. The tweeter is amiable too. However I just left it centered.The included template is a little confusing. There are 2 perforations in the template, each with a different diameter and I wasn't sure which diameter to use. Turns out the smaller diameter is to cover the speaker grill if you want to paint the speaker. The larger diameter is for the ceiling cutout. 5
