Customer Reviews

Looks Nice but Performance was LackingUnfortunately, the performance didn't live up to expectations. I live in a 2-story 3-bedroom home that I believe is in the 1800 - 2000 sqft range. I purchased a Linksys EA9500 router with some nice horsepower to avoid having to use a range extender. That being said, the cable outlets aren't located near the center of the house such that one bedroom with a laptop is in the opposite upstairs corner. With a Netgear A6210 I was achieving 3 out of 4 bars signal at around 585 Mbps connection speed. Obviously, coming downstairs I can easily get 866.7 (max). This adapter had much bigger antennae and was classified as high power so there was a reasonable expectation that it would perform better than the Netgear. Unfortunately, it underwhelmed. I still only got 3 out of 4 bars for signal, but the speed would max out at 325 Mbps. I couldn't tell if it was hardware issue or drivers. I tried different orientations and even different drivers and driver settings. Nothing worked so I had to return the device. Construction quality seemed nice but performance was lacking. Not sure if mine was defective or not but decided not to try with another.2Great while it worked, but didn't work long. This device stopped working less than 9 months after purchase. The radio in the device consistently ceases to function after a short period of use. Disconnecting and reconnecting it re-enables the radio temporarily, but it always stops working soon after. My other USB devices, including a wireless NIC, do not have this problem. The Netis WF2561 is either poorly designed, poorly manufactured, or both.1FAILED in Just Under One YearI purchased this on March 19, 2016. Today is February 18, 2017 and it has ground to a halt. I could tell something was wrong about a month ago, but it was intermittent. I was pretty sure it was this adapter, but I could not narrow it down 100-percent without buying another adapter. I was trying to avoid that in case mine was OK. I did update the driver once during the past month, but it didn't make any difference. Now that it has completely failed, it's pretty obvious because the activity light has ceased working. I replaced it with a different brand/model and all is well again.2Works on MacBook Air 2013 w/ Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 perfectly.tl;dr: Apple Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 - WORKS!!Today: April 12th 2016.The first item I received was USED, and because of the high potential for it to be a return due to being faulty, I sent it back. I don't know who's fault that is, Amazon or the seller.I just received the replacement though. I travel a lot in the car, and WiFi is always a hassle. Having to park as close as I possibly can to a WiFi hotspot and TRY to connect. It's usually an exercise in total futility. So after a great deal of research, I bought this. I just plugged it in, installed the software I had downloaded earlier, and connected it. I was expecting a fight, but nope, it showed up in Network as a new device and then from the Mac menu bar it showed me all the available networks. Wow, a LOT of them. Some of them are a very long way away and I'd never expect to be able to connect with them from where i am in this parking lot. I connected to a Starbucks and WOW, I have the same speeds I had INSIDE the store, and actually a much faster ping, which doesn't even make sense. Color me impressed. I seriously thought this would be a waste of time.I tried a cheaper one before that claimed Mac support and it did not work. The Mac support was a lie.Other Mac users will want to see this review, so if you found this helpful, give it a thumbs up so we can get it on the front page. Thanks.5Excellent ProductExcellent product, but its only been running a short while. Time will tell.My application is not extreme. 15 feet away from Asus RT-AC68 router. 100% signal, 867Mbps on the 5Ghz radio rock solid. My laptop can only do 150Mbps with its internal wireless adapter, and could only connect 72.2Mbps at that distance on the 2.4Ghz radio. My ISP is providing 95Mbps, so now I can actually get all of it. I have not tested it at far distances and through many walls, however, I can see networks now that are quite a bit a way. Hundreds of feet at least and several internal and external walls.Utility was easy to install, and does provide some setup and useful features. I would buy this again in a heartbeat.5Long distance problem solved!Turned my no-WiFi situation into 95% signal WiFi! I'm about 100 ft and one level above the router in a concrete building using a MacBook Pro. The MacBook Pro's internal antenna could detect the router signal, but could never connect. I tried a repeater, but it would regularly lose connection and have to be rebooted. That was a major pain. I was doubtful about an antenna because of the distance, but I am very pleasantly surprised at how well this works. Be sure to download the latest drivers from the Netis site. The 6 foot cable is great so you can adjust its position. Great buy!5very fast. Very fast and reliable. I used it with an Ubuntu machine. Downloaded the driver source code. Built it and installed the driver. Ubuntu reports 867 Mps. That's local speed. My actual internet connection is only 54Mbs. 5Great productGreatly enhances the reception over the .5db antenna that comes in your laptop. I Tested this out in an RV beforeI could barley receive any signal very slow internet. Had Amazon ship this prime to me at the Park and after installation I could stream movies with ease.50 dock plus a surprisingly good driver and app (easy profile setupUSB 3.0 dock plus a surprisingly good driver and app (easy profile setup, detailed site survey, and it tells you what USB mode it is running on.)5Short term SolutionOrder 2 of these. One of them started having connection issues within 5 months. At the time I was bologna get using the computer so it wasn t needed. At 18 months the second one started doing the same thing. Will connect to the network but within 20 seconds it will completely disconnect from the USB port and then restart.1Did not achieve anticipated performance. This device was a disappointment for me. I bought this wireless adapter to replace a similar USB adapter which is 802.11 a/b/g capable and was not working as well as I desired at a distance of about 100 feet from my wireless gateway (modem/router). This Netis "high power" adapter meets the 802.11 a/b/g/n standard and reviews indicated that it worked very well at 2.4 and 5 Ghz over significant distances due to its dual 5db antennae and 500mW power rating. What I have found is that this Netis device only achieves a four bar signal strength and would not establish a connection with my wireless gateway located about 100 feet away and separated by two walls despite repeated attempts. My previous adapter provides a five bar signal strength and speeds of between 54 and 140 Mps which is better than the performance of the Netis adapter (0 Mps) at the 100 - 125 foot distance that must be spanned in order to meet my need to connect computers located in my shop out-building with my internet modem router that is located in my house. I was able to make the Netis adapter work (and quite well with up to 300 Mps speeds but only when located within my house and within 50 feet of the gateway). I have gone back to using my previous wireless adapter and plan on replacing the existing adapter on my wife's in-house computer with the Netis adapter to see if it will provide an improved streaming experience for her. Hopefully not all will be lost in this purchase.3
