Customer Reviews

Beautiful Chrome TP Holder can also hold hand towelsI am happy with this product. You can feel the weight in your hand when you mount it, it feels strong (not cheap). The chrome is really nice. It has a deep shine. I like the way the arm stays in place, but with a little pressure can be adjusted for smaller or larger rolls of paper. The hook part isn't round. It has a ridge that holds the paper roll very well.I also like the Delta Lahara pivoting paper holder in my Master Bath, but I think that pivot could be confusing in a guest bath. If a guest needs to replace the roll, it should be simple. The pivot in my master WC is so discreet that it isn't clear how to remove the roll. With its hook shape, this Moen Eva TP Holder is beautiful, functional, and easy to refill. The Moen EVA Towel ring is about 8" in diameter so it stuck out beyond the edge of a short section of wall, but this Toilet Paper Holder is only 7" & fits perfectly. I actually like the way the flat bar holds my towel better than a ring. I ordered several, 2 for Toilet Paper Holders and 2 for towel holders in one of our bathrooms (I had room for the towel ring on the other wall, but wanted them to match). I don't have the special Moen installation tool with the levelling bubble, but it isn't needed because these only require one hole. I also didn't use the screw with plastic insert provided because I mounted these directly in wood studs. As Moen claims, mounting these is super fast, but you need to be careful to get the little lines on the plastic circle exactly horizontal before you press the spikes into the wall, otherwise the hook will end up crooked. The instructions say not to overtighten the screw. It doesn't need to be very tight because the metal spikes keep the hook from rotating. However, I was mounting it into a wooden stud and my electric screwdriver can be a bit overzealous.. I ended up putting a #8 washer between the wall and the back of the black plastic mounting piece because I did not use their white plastic sleeve. That sleeve sits on top of the wall and there is a depression on the back of the black plastic piece to accommodate it. The washer filled that space and ensured that I could tighten the screw without cracking the plastic.4What a hassle. What is with Moen and their ever changing proprietary mounting systems and behind wall valve systems?I read that the central expander didn't work well in past reviews, so I found a stud for one side and used a small expander with screw into the drywall for the other side of the plastic mount. After securing the plastic mount (solid), I pushed the metal holder onto the mount and it wobbled. This is the most stupid system of hanging a simple toiler paper holder I've ever encounter. Used to be you put a small piece of metal up against the wall, secure it with 2 expanders and/or in a stud, then attach via a set screw. No, this device only allows you to push the holder up against the plastic anchor until it clicks in a small notch on the bottom. Fine, but the fixture is still loose. Now I have 2 holes in my freshly painted bathroom and no holder. My only suggestion, find something to surround the hole for inside the unit when you go to fit it on the crap plastic holder. Too late for me, since I screwed up a section of drywall. Why does Moen insist on changing out there connections every few years? My plumber had a hell of time just replacing the fixtures on my dual sinks. I'll never by another Moen product again.1need to be a touch handyThis is a good looking toilet paper holder. As other reviewers have noted, the instructions are poor and the flimsy plastic wall anchor that they give are not sufficient to hold the unit in place. This holder needs to be mounted to a stud with a sturdy screw or a metal expanding anchor that can be purchased at the hardware store. Bottom line is if you have no "handy" skills at all then this product is not for you. The enclosed attachments are insufficient for secure mounting. However, if you have extra wood screws and can find a stud then this is becomes a great product that just did not think through what was needed to make it a great experience.3Great toilet paper holder with very poor mounting hardware - Supplement with a toggle bolt for drywallIt's a great toilet paper holder. Looks good and meant to last a lifetime. Problem is the mounting hardware provided will not hold the toilet paper holder to a sheet rock wall for long. Every one that came with my new house pulled out from the wall, some within a month. How to correct the problem: Install with a toggle bolt for drywall (example: The Hillman Group 370051 Toggle Bolt, 3/16X2-Inch) The wing on the toggle bolt spreads out and grabs the back side of the drywall when tightened. Don't forget to use the metal washer that came with the original mounting hardware, and I would suggest using a lock washer in addition. You will have to ream the hole on the plastic mounting piece so that the slightly larger bolt fits through. This will hold the toilet paper holder firmly in place for years.3Nice if you have the spaceI love the look of this. However, it sticks out from the wall about 3.75 inches. In one of my bathrooms there is not enough space next to the toilet to comfortably mount this.Another issue I have is the ridiculous mounting system on this and other Moen Eva accessories. These are mounted by installing a plastic fitting with a single screw and then snapping the fixture onto the plastic fitting. I'm concerned about the durability of the plastic fitting and the ability to find a replacement fitting if/when it fails. All other bathroom fixtures I've installed have a very simple, almost standard sheet metal bracket that mounts with two screws (vertically oriented). I've always been able to install these types of brackets using existing drywall anchors. The Moen fixtures can be mounted with a single center screw or two horizontally oriented screws. Why horizontal! This required me to remove the existing drywall anchors, then patch and paint the drywall to mount these fixtures. Really annoying to have to do so much work to use an inferior mount design.3I am happy with it!!I really like this TP holder. I read reviews about how some people did not like the mounting system but I had no problems with it at all, I drilled a hole and followed directions and even though I never heard a "click" for the locking tap, it seems really solid to me. I also considered that the end that was open would be facing the toilet and did not want the roll coming off when pulled on. I took special effort with placement because of that complaint, what I did was place it higher than I have seen done normally with TP holders, so now you have to pull down. The extra height ended up being perfect when sitting on the toilet. I would recommend this TP holder to others.Sidenote: My son painted my half bathroom for me, and I think the color looks great with oil rubbed bronze fixtures. It is Benjamin Moore Berber White in Eggshell if anyone else likes it.5Toggle bolt is worthlessInstalled a pair of these towel bars a few months ago, and they looked fine. One was installed using screws as I was at a stud. The other was installed with the included toggle bolt. This morning the latter one fell off in my wife's hand, ripping a hole in the wall along with it. The toggle bolt had snapped off as shown in the pics. I was tempted to use the spare toggle bolt but learned that it was a defective design that did not allow both wings to seat against the drywall properly---the slots in the wings stop against the bolt unevenly. Solution was to buy a better/bigger bolt from the local hardware. While I generally like Moen products, it's a shame they went so cheap on the installation hardware.2These make great hand towel holders too! Here's an idea some people may not have thought of: Consider using these as hand towel holders! Why? Most hand towel holders have rounded bottoms, so when you hang towels on them they tend to bunch up a bit and "crimp" in their centers. There's nothing wrong with that, of course, and some people like that look. But I prefer the clean look of hand towels hung on a straight horizontal bar. These TP holders work perfectly for that!I do have these throughout my house as TP holders, but I also mounted some above the bathroom sinks for hand towels (see my photo). They look great and I have no complaints about them in either capacity.4Pretty paper holder, installation took some tinkeringI purchased the chrome toilet paper holder to match new Moen Eva faucets. The holder looks great. I messed up the installation and could not use the anchoring system as provided (the anchor snapped off the small ring designed to keep it from rotating while screwing it in), so instead I removed the included long screw and anchor and used a standard self-drilling drywall anchor and screw. This worked well and the holder seems solid enough to hold toilet paper. This mounting system is not as easy or straightforward as the instructions imply, but with a little thought and planning, everything worked out and I'm fine with it.4No customer serviceBeautiful to start, but one month of use and the arm falls off the hook. It is unusable. I have tried to contact the manufacture and all the numbers I have tried do not work and are a waste of time. Amazon had no idea what they were talking about. Very frustrating customer service.1Nice, with good finish Nice, with good finish.Seems sturdy, my two year old has used some of these fixtures for his climbing/hanging pleasure. They do have a bit of give, but after hanging on them, the give is stable. From another review, her husband was mistaken (maybe not as handy as he claims!) it has the ability to mount direct to the stud, so do not think you need to drill a huge hole in your stud!! 5
