Customer Reviews

Nice looking towel bars, but prone to wiggleGreat looking tower bar at a nice price. We bought these to match the ones that were already in our bathrooms because we wanted more places to hang towels. There are only two reasons I'm giving this four stars instead of five:1) The horizontal bar does tend to wiggle a little between the side supports. I don't think this is a factor of how I mounted it (I mounted about four of these and they all did the same thing), it's just the way the item is constructed.2) As other reviewers have suggested, you're better off tossing the mounting screws that come with this and using some better hardware. I agree with the reviewer who suggested the E-Z Ancor drywall anchors (available on Amazon and the big-name hardware stores), and I'll add that I have also had good success with Cobra anchors (some of which are rated for up to 100 lbs -- but that would be some darn heavy towels!). Unfortunately, even with a good drywall anchor, two of the four towel bars I installed still had a little wiggle at the mount -- not between the mount and the wall, but between the "feet" of the towel bar and the mounting plates you install beneath them. Fortunately the wiggling doesn't seem to affect their sturdiness or weight capacity. All in all, this is one of those items that, in my opinion, looks more expensive than it is. And that's always a good thing.4Nice, with good finishNice, with good finish.Seems sturdy, my two year old has used some of these fixtures for his climbing/hanging pleasure. They do have a bit of give, but after hanging on them, the give is stable. From another review, her husband was mistaken (maybe not as handy as he claims!) it has the ability to mount direct to the stud, so do not think you need to drill a huge hole in your stud!!5WARNING: Special "Tool" needed for installationPurchased a couple of these towel bars since they were the same line as my faucets. What a mistake! We opened the package and read the vague installation instructions. We're engineers, and often write user instructions so we know how to read and write them. Moen does not. Awful unclear vague confusing installation instructions. So we looked online, oh! Moen has an installation video. The video shows how to install your Moen accessories with this special Moen tool that did not come with the hardware. Because we all want to purchase our hardware, receive it, and THEN discover a special tool is required. It says optional but there's no template (come on, Moen, you couldn't include a paper template??), there's ZERO room for error, the little plastic mounts (yes, PLASTIC!! Gee Moen did that save YOU money??) are not easily adjustable, so trying to install it without their "handy tool" is asking for disaster. These look nice. The mounts are cheap and will wear out quickly because clearly quality is NOT important to Moen. The towel bars are nice. Too bad the cheap plastic mounts are cheap plastic.2very poor design and qualityBought two of these and had to return them. The bracket that holds them on is cheap, flexible plastic. The screws that hold it on to the wall are on each side not top and bottom. The end result of all this design is that the towel bar moves up and down easily even with the weight of a towel. So disappointed in this towel bar. I thought since I was purchasing a name brand the quality would be good.1Lovely, but mounting brackets are plasticThis towel bar is attractive. It helps our bathroom to look more upscale than it is.The mounting brackets are plastic with a thin tab that retains the towel bar. I m concerned that the bar may become loose over time. Perhaps not that much time. The bar itself is rather sturdy. It s a shame that the manufacturer cheaped out on the mounting brackets.Likely would not but again.4I CANNOT recommend the "Eva Brushed Nickel 18" Towel Bar"Stepped out of the shower this morning, grabbed for my towel and the bar fell to the floor. The plastic mounting plate that holds the bar support was completely fractured. The towel bar is not in a position where it can be bumped , leaned on, or otherwise stressed.I think that perhaps a contributing factor was the installer over tightening the screw that holds the plate to the wall.HOWEVER:Not so long ago, the mounting system consisted of a sturdy stamped METAL plate screwed to the wall. The bar support end was attached to the plate with a simple, small setscrew. This method almost NEVER FAILED!I cannot think of a reason, other than corporate greed, why MOEN decided to save perhaps a penny incorporating that substandard plastic plate. In closing, as an extremely disappointed retired engineer, may I quote:" Ya cain't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear!"SHAME ON YOU MOEN!1Nice bar but TERRIBLE mounting methodI'm redoing my entire master bathroom and want the fixtures and towel bars to be from the same collection and style. I was a little apprehensive about the Pro-Fit mounting system used for the Eva collection. When I went to mount the towel bar I had to remove it from the mounting post to make some minor adjustments. There is a small opening in the bottom where you have to insert a very small screwdriver and push on the locking tab to release. You have to apply some pressure all the while pulling on the mounting arm to release it from the post. When I did this to one of the sides the little plastic locking tab broke off completely thus rending the mounting post useless. So I contacted Moen about this situation and was told the you cannot purchase, nor do they stock, the mounting post. However, they were kind enough to send me a complete 18" chrome towel bar which included the posts. So in a nutshell, if you need a mounting post for whatever reason either hope that Moen is generous in the warranty and sends you a whole new package or go with something else.I'd rather use the type of mounting bracket that uses the little set screw. That has always worked for me and is metal which won't break like this terrible mounting system.2Didn't account for the thickness of the wallI bought this to replace an older towel rod that's on a wall where a pocket door is hiding. The old towel rod was fine because it didn't go too deep into the drywall. But this product uses its own mounting hardware, which goes pretty deep into the wall. It ended up hitting the pocket door hidden inside the wall, so I'm going to have to install this elsewhere. It's still great quality. Also, watch the helpful videos posted on this product's page. They aren't titled too intuitively but they do cover the install for this type of mounting.4They easily loosen over time and require disassembly (removing the towel ...We have had a number of these towel bars for a year or so. They are anchored with plastic sleeves into drywall. They easily loosen over time and require disassembly (removing the towel bar from the wall) to tighten the setting sleeves. It is a badly thought out design. I guarantee that you will be doing the same thing I am doing every few months....resetting them until perhaps sometime when they do not reset anymore,1Good looking finish but not confident about the plastic mounting plateGood looking and good quality on the actual hardware, I'm not 100% sold on Moens new plastic mounting base which is concealed behind the towel bar. We are used to using the old metal base plate with small set screws. Now the hook / towel bar snaps onto a plastic mounting plate. One of the hooks wouldn't "snap" & lock into place and the plastic mounting plate finally broke after I tried to adjust it. Amazon did send a replacement but it's a hassle when this is my business. I specialize in kitchen and bath remodels and I'll be anxious to hear feedback from my customers on how durable this new mounting system is.4
