Worth every pennyIt has just become common place for scumbag thieves stealing packages. As a result these people are not just taking packages but going through the mailbox as well. As a result I started having all my packages delivered to my job and added this box for my mail. The thing is built like a tank. I just do not want to even give someone the opportunity. I live in one of those neighborhoods where the mail man still walks the beat and drops the mail off at the front door. Scumbags were coming up to houses pretending to knock on the door and going through the mailbox. From the road you can see this thing screams "don't waste your time". If they really want the mail the best option is to pry it off the wall with pry bar and sledge hammer. It has a clip on the inside of the door where is says U.S. Mail to hold outgoing letters. Was on holiday for a week and this thing wasn't even close to being full. My only complaint. The white is like an off white. It did not really look like the same paint color as the amazon picture. I ended up spray painting mine more like the white color in the amazon picture.5Very strudy, strong and well made.Very strudy, strong and well made. I really like this mailbox. It makes me feel like our mail is secure and it will hold a lot. I moved our mailbox we ve had for over 25 years away from our front door to the garage door area in a raised ranch, so I wanted something more secure. They supplied all the hardware I need to mount it safely into brick siding. My only disappointment is that the mail pickup area, when I want to have the mail person take mail, but keep it covered, is only for the size of a legal letter. It s attractive and very thick strong metal.5Works great for mailIt was easier than expected to install. The design works great for mail, most regular envelopes stack neatly in a pile flat on the bottom. If not for newspaper ads, this thing would hold a week's worth or more mail for most people, I would think. I have a Nest Hello doorbell so theft hasn't been much of a concern but it did catch my mail lady while she was on the phone on Bluetooth and she commented that she liked the new mailbox so I guess that's a great review. It is too small for packages, but I bought an outdoor trash can with a lid, dropped a couple of 12" pavers on the bottom so it wouldn't blow away, and it works fine.5The manufacturer should have inspected the item better, before boxing and the manufacturer should have invented ...the date of manufacture on the box was 2 years old and it came dented even though it was boxed in Styrofoam inside, it had to be dented from the factory. I installed it on a house wall with siding using 1/4" diam. x 3" toggle bolts. I also created and built a bumper stop under the hinge so that it would open slowly and open max at 75 degree angle so the mail would not fall out onto the ground. The manufacturer should have inspected the item better, before boxing and the manufacturer should have invented and installed A bumper stop so the door doesn't open all the way 180 degrees letting your mail fall out. it is a sturdy mailbox and serves the purpose.5It is large and holds magazines easily. We struggled to find one that could fit magazines adequately and this one is perfect, can hold a weeks mail easily, maybe two. It has a magnetic latch on the door for the slot and items fall down deep enough in the box to the deter thieves. Box is sturdy to keep all but determined thieves out, and by determined I mean a crowbar. Coating on metal is good and am protecting with car wax per the instructions and using a nano lube on the lock and hinges. Comes with all the hardware you need we mounted to wall studs on a stucco surface and there is a gap at the back to allow for water and air to pass behind it. Post Office approved as far as I can tell as well. Recommended.5nothing is easy. I wouldn't use the enclosed mounting screws Nicer looking mounted on brick wall than I thought it would be. The description of "easy mounting' is misleading. Keep in mind if u dont want the whole unit pried from the wall by a thief go to a hardware store ( FASENAL) and buy some serious steel masonry toggle bolts. Use a hammer drill to set your holes properly and mount this box on the wall the right and the secure way. Remember, nothing is easy. I wouldn't use the enclosed mounting screws. After mounting, post man said it was an impressive mailbox that appeared very secure. If you have had ur identity tampered with you will take every measure to protect ur mail. 5 stars 5Easy install but you need to buy masonry screws and a drill bit for brick walls Just got this installed today. The mail box came in good packaging and was not damaged in any way.The instructions are very clear and I chose to mount this on the wall which is brick. In order to do this the instructions mention to use masonry fasteners. I picked up a 1/4 " masonry drill bit and a box of 8 masonry screws 1 and 3/8 inch long.I used the bracket to trace the outline of where I wanted it on the wall and used a bubble level to ensure it was straight. After drilling the two holes I used a socket wrench to tighten the masonry screws. This provides a controlled method to drive them in. I originally was going to use my drill to drive them in but the flat head on the screw makes it difficult to keep the bit from sliding out and causing damage to the screw head.Overall installation was straightforward. 5The Ft Knox of mailboxesSomebody kept prying open the cheap mailboxes at work and I was always stressed if circumstances dictated the mail would sit overnight. No more worries now that we have the Mail Boss. The box is strong as all get out, the design is tamper resistant and frankly they'd have to rip part of the wall off to get my mail now. It's big enough to hold magazines or catalogs and it looks classy too. Honestly I smile every time I go down to get the mail now. True, the outgoing mail is in an unsecured section. For us that's not a problem since the box is in a high traffic, high visibility area during the day so it doesn't get messed with. If you have problems with people stealing your outgoing mail you'd either need to get a commercial box approved by USPS where the carrier has a key to the outgoing slot, or just drop your outgoing mail at a secure blue bin.Installation was easy. You mount a bracket to the wall, hang the mailbox on the bracket and then bolt the mailbox to the wall. Once the door is locked, all of the mounting elements are not only hidden from sight but inaccessible to would-be thieves. For securing your incoming mail, there is no better choice. Worth every penny.5Cream, not white, but great box otherwiseThis post box is not pure white. It s cream or ivory, and it does clash somewhat with white siding as you can see in the pictures. Had we realized this, we would ve ordered black to match the shutters and other trim. Otherwise, I m very happy with the box, and the metal would be easy to spray paint white or black if we wanted. It s heavy duty, and looks nice, classic even, on our 1928 colonial. We live intown, and it s a relief to know mail, small packages, and magazines will fit and be secure in this box.5High quality but disappointed in design implementation - not for small packagesit is BIG - bigger than we expected. It would have gotten 5 stars if the design was implemented better to suit small mail order packages but it really doesn't. The slot is much too small which is deceiving in the pictures. Instead of making a sturdy flap with inward teeth to allow small packages to drop in but prevent manual removal without key (anti-theft) - they made the opening a small metal solid inch-wide (mainly just for envelopes and magazines.) We are keeping it since we need the added security and a mailbox that is high quality and sturdy as this one is, but if you're looking for a mailbox to receive small packages with that security, this isn't the one.3I love this mailboxI love this mailbox. Put it on the front of my 1947 brick cape cod which does not have a front porch to protect it from the weather. Had a torrential downpour the next day and my mail was completely dry. It is heavy duty with a strong lock which is easy to open with one hand. Holds A LOT of mail including very large envelopes and magazines. Also mail to go out is completely protect exit from the weather. Well worth the money. .review-image-thumbnail { background-position: center center; background-repeat: no-repeat; overflow: hidden; background-size: cover; height: 160px; width: 235px; } .review-media-gallery-content { height:100%; width:100%; background-color:black; } .reviews-mobile-media-gallery .a-carousel-viewport { margin-left:15px; } .cr-thumbnail-image { float: left; }5Pricey, but built so well it is worth it.The first thing I noticed when picking it up at our doorstep- it's seriously heavy, and that's a good thing. I demo'd some locking mailboxes at Home Depot, OSH, etc., and figured most all could be pried open with a screwdriver, if not bare hands, and would be rusting within a year. Not the Mail Boss. Clearly somebody took some care to design a mailbox that would take real effort to bust open or finagle the mail from. The box, hinges, latches are all heavy gauge. The finish is thick and tough- similar to a spray-in bedliner. Installation was straight-forward. And three pick-resistant keys is a nice touch. It sure ain't cheap. but more than any other mailbox I sampled I'm confident this will be the last one I'll ever install.5
