Think about spending more for a better headset if you can. This headset has all the basic functions you want but there are some issues. It is cheaper than the others that are similar in the market and there is a reason for that.At least for me I found that wearing this headset for more than 30 minutes is uncomfortable. There is a seam on the earpieces that seem to irritate my ears. This might not be an issue for everyone. I had to expand it to almost its largest size for it to fit so maybe it was not on a great angle for my particular head shape and size. I work from home so I use a lot of Skype and on particularly long meetings I have to keep shifting the headset to stay mildly comfortable. There is also some problems with the Logictech Skype plugin. It has not been updated since 2013 and it has some issues. The main issue is that the keeps blinking if you get a Skype call and don't answer it . I have to restart Skype to get the blinking to stop. After several conversations with support they did not seem to be able to comprehend what the problem was and they just stopped responding and sent me a survey on how they did. The mute control for Skype is also flaky but I am not going to even try to explain that behavior.I am returning the headset and I purchased the Plantronics Voyager Focus UC B825. It is almost twice the price but the build quality, comfort and software makes it worth it. Also, listening to music on the Logitech headset is terrible. Just don't do it. The Plantronics is far superior for listening to music. If you need DECT spectrum with extended range and security then the Plantronics is not for you since it uses Bluetooth and this Logitech headset seems to be the least expensive with that technology. The only thing the Logitech has over the Plantronics usability wise is the mute indicator at the end of the microphone so that you know when you are muted when your computer screen is not in view. 2Make sure you get the genuine product and not a knockoff This is a great headset but you need to pay attention to get the genuine product and not a knock off. I've owned one of these for more than 3 years until my kid got to it and tore apart the headset. I love this headset so I ordered a new one. When it arrived I was a bit surprised to see some differences from the old headset: the mic boom base was made of cheap plastic instead of aluminum, mic boom was very loose and it took a long time for the head set to pair with the base. Once paired the audio sounded poor, with noticeable noise/static. Eventually decided to send it back to Amazon and ask for a replacement. The replacement arrived today and this time looks like the genuine product: no cheap plastic, tight mic boom, good sound, paired instantly. So to sum it up: go get this headset, it's a great one, but be careful that you get the real thing. 3Needs improvement Now I know why the company I work for does not like this product, and I have to say that I agree. It has consistently displayed poor performance when it comes to our customers not being able to hear me when I call them. I can hear them just fine, but I've had several pairs of this exact same head phone over the last two tears and every time I need a new one, it's because the customer can no longer hear me, and tell me that I sound like I'm calling through a windstorm. My employer said they's reimburse me for what I paid, but I don't think they should have to reimburse me for an inferior product. No I would not recommend this headset to anyone. it was a complete waste of money. I had the same problem--rightout of the box--where the customer could not hear me. Now I'm looking at researching another headset, this time a quality product for my money. 1Best In Class I have been using one of these with Skype several times throughout the day every day of the week for over two years now. The red mute indicator on the boom and easy access mute button are collectively a powerful tool that allows total freedom from the desk. I rely on it so much I recently purchased a second one for use with Microsoft Office Communicator to free me up on my corporate laptop as well. It is comfortable. I can use it all day for work, let it charge briefly while I take a break, then use it all night. I have only ever run it down one time by leaving it off the cradle and using it off and on from early in the morning until very late at night. The base is weighted and the headset slides into place with little effort and is held by a mild magnet. There are no special drivers to install under Win 7 & 10 (the OSs I tested), which is important if you need to use this on a corporate workstation where you don't have local admin rights. In trying to get a good second headset I did have to return one with mic vibration noise. But Amazon was very helpful and the next one worked perfectly. You can get consistent higher build quality from other brands. But, this is the only one I have found with this convenient mute design. And, you can't beat the price range. This is one of those rare situations where you can't really get a better solution, regardless of how much money you throw at a problem. DECT offers much better clarity at range over Bluetooth. If you are trying to decide on a headset to free you up from your desk, this is your best bet.UPDATE: I purchased a third, this time the dual version for gaming. After a week of daily use I noticed it hadn't charged up over night. I set it back in the cradle several times and it finally started charging. On day 10 there was nothing I could do to get it to charge. I'm going through the replacement process with Amazon now. Also, this one did have a small amount of mic vibration noise while walking, but not while sitting still. I was going to live with that until the charging issue.UPDATE (Windows 10 App): If you have this headset and switch from the traditional Skype program to the new Windows 10 app, one issue you will experience is the mute button hanging up calls. Even though the "Logitech Skype Plug-in Software"'s description says nothing about the mute button, and hasn't been updated since 2013, it does resolve the issue. You will need to exit the app after installing before it will begin working. Link: http://support.logitech.com/en_us/product/wireless-headset-dual-h820e-business/downloads#I still haven't found a fix for the Win 10 app's audio device changing with each reboot. 4So far, so good I have had this Logitech wireless microphone/headset for a few days now, and so far so good..I bought it for dictation with Dragon NaturallySpeaking, so I didn't really need the headphone aspect; I bought it for the wireless microphone. And it works great for that purpose. \\I had previously been working with the Plantronics wireless headset, which worked well while it was intact, but the unit kept breaking, and was inherently flawed. So far, this Logitech headset shows no signs of breaking, it's significantly lighter weight, and its wireless microphone is every bit as good as that on the Plantronics headset. In fact, it works at a farther distance (although I don't really need that aspect of the headset). The only drawback is that the charging procedure isn't quite as convenient. With the Plantronics unit, I simply had to plug it in overnight, and it would last all day. With this unit, you need to fit the headset into a stand-alone charging unit, and the charge seems to run out after about eight hours. But that's not a significant drawback, since I can simply charge it whenever I'm away from my desk.To summarize, I really like the performance so far, and it's a significant improvement over the Plantronics headset, plus it costs a lot less. 4Lasted a Year and then it died I bought this for work. The first few months were great but as I approach one year it has stopped working. I think it isn't working because it just won't charge no matter what I do. I'll be looking for a new brand of headset for my next one.Had to give an update to my review. After leaving this review I contacted customer support (just to see what would happen). They immediately sent me out a brand new headset. When I received it, I noticed that they sent me the double (more expensive) one and I had ordered the single mono (I like that one better). When I contacted them to ask if I could convert the double to a single they went ahead and sent me a brand new single one! They didn't want me ti return the double, they told me to keep. I have to say that I am disappointed that it didn't last more than a year (and I use it daily) but the customer support I received was beyond compare. A+ for customer support Logitech. 2Fatal Design Flaw While the sound quality, comfort, battery life, and range of this headset is excellent, they have a fatal design flaw not related to the electronics. There is a point at the end of the padded portion of the head bow, where only a small plastic section connects the top head bow to the adjustable ear slides. When you pull the ear pieces apart to put them on your head, it places a bending load right at this weak section, and it will eventually fatigue and break, just like bending a paper clip. I have had two sets of these headphones, the first was replaced under warranty, but now it's happened again. No matter how careful you are, it will eventually happen to you too. I have replaced these now with a Logitech over-ear gaming headset (even for office use) and I am much happier with that product. Logitech really needs to improve this product by putting some ribs over this area, so it can withstand the normal use loads it will see. 1Excellent for my purposes I bought this headset because I work from home and was tired of being tethered to my desk when on long calls. It was so easy to set up and charged quickly for first-time use. I plugged it into the power source initially before plugging it into my computer so that it would charge up. The first-time charge only took a few hours. I was able to unplug my old headset, plug this one into a usb outlet, reboot my phone system and VOILA! it was ready to go. I didn't have to change a single setting on my computer. My ONLY wish is that it had a cord that would give me the option of powering up while on calls as I worry it will run out of juice. however it does charge super fast on the cradle so I just pop it on when I'm not taking calls. It's been a few weeks and I've not had any issues. ONE night I forgot to put it on the charger so I came in to a big red low battery indicator. but just charged it for about a half hour and then more often than normal thoughout the day- and it worked great.Sound quality is equal to my corded headset. Any sound quality issues are more with the phone software on my computer, not the headset. I am able to make it from my basement office all the way up to the 2nd floor bedrooms without losing any sound quality or connection. It's lightweight- comparable to my corded headset. I love the 1-ear headset as that is what I am used to (other wireless models all seem to have earpieces on both sides- I find this to be too isolating). I like the mute function and like that you can see the red light indicating the mute button is on.I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could. 4Perfect for Speech Recognition Using Dragon NaturallySpeaking I've been a Dragon NaturallySpeaking user for 15 years, and I've always used an old VXI wired single-muff headset. It was the highest rated speech-recognition USB headset in the world for many years. Its wires were frayed and earmuff foam nearly disintegrated, so I finally decided to replace it. When I saw this industrial-strength Logitech headset on Amazon, I figured I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did. Its accuracy is noticeably better than my old headset, and it was perfectly simple to set up.I like the way the computer doesn't need to know there is any wireless sorcery going on. There's no struggling with any Bluetooth connections. Everything happens between the Logitech headset and its handsome and reassuringly heavy desktop dock. The link between headset and dock is so perfect, and the resulting accuracy of its speech recognition is so flawless, I was impressed. To pair headset and dock was a simple matter of plugging in the power and placing the headset in its dock. After plugging in the dock's USB cable to my Windows 10 PC, the device was immediately recognized. With a few clicks, I made the headset my default audio input device, and when I fired up NaturallySpeaking, it's as if the two had been old friends for 15 years. Thank goodness for this high-quality, extraordinary product. If I could give it six stars, I would. 5I loved them...but no replaceable earpads? I have used these for a few years, on hundreds of hours of conference calls, and LOVE the set. Right up until I ran into a MAJOR problem. One of the ear pads ripped. No abuse, nothing bad done to them. Heck I have babied them because I rely on them so much. It just ripped. The major problem is not that the ear pad ripped as that happens in life and you replace the ear pad. It is that come to find out from Logitech support that the ear pads are NOT replaceable. Not that they are not made, but that on the H820e the earpads are not replaceable. For as expensive as these were and the highest end Logitech makes for headsets like these, I expect better. Parts wear out. I rely on these very heavily as I work from home and am on conference calls all the time talking, teaching, learning, doing. Now they are useless as they are so uncomfortable I cannot use them. 2
