blinded by the light We had a small 15w tube light in our laundry room/entryway just so we could see in between the two doors while entering or leaving the house. It was on 24x7 because there isn't a light switch for that room without going into the kitchen and turning on the exterior light. Now with this our electric bill should drop a bit since it'll turn off over night, and whenever we haven't been in the room for 10 minutes. It's hung just below the ceiling and it bright enough to blind temporarily if you're looking at it when it comes on! We've learned to look down when entering the room, and I'm considering hanging something off one side to act as a shield/shade so we don't look right at the bulbs. One of the 4 would not turn off all the way (still a slight glow like an LED nightlight) so I emailed the seller and they agreed to send 1 replacement without requiring a return. 5Works great except The picture shows the light hanging from the ends. These ends are plastic and in time will be the weak point. Most of the older hanging lights hang from the metal top. This unit has a nice single layer steel top. Why the manufacturer decided not to use the metal top and instead use the plastic ends for hanging is unclear. I simply drilled two holes about 32 inches apart for a much solider hang. See picture. The motion sensor works very good. The light is very bright for the 5000k.The linked plug in is always live on the motion sensor unit. 4Couldn't be happier! I installed 8 of these in my garage (3 stall) earlier this year and absolutely love them! My garage is super bright now so I can easily work on things and not having to flip switches is nice since mine are inside the house for some strange reason or I have to walk around vehicles and childrens toys to get at the one(s) inside. This makes it a lot easier! I did have one fail to completely turn off after a relatively short period of time. It would only dim. I contacted the manufacturer and they agreed to ship out a new one. Unfortunately that one was DEMOLISHED by UPS in transit. They are sending another and filing a claim with UPS. All in all, they are a great value and the manufacturer has been great to deal with and very helpful. Ellen is great! I'd purchase again. In fact...I did...I bought a couple switched versions for over my work bench! 5Two fit perfectly between 3 garage doors Lightweight easy install. These match the color temperature of the house LED fixtures in the garage and augment that light at the doors. House lights on Lutron motion sensor and these with built in motion sensor. The sensor trips at about 4 ft radius with light mounted at 7 ft height.I ve reduced this to 4 stars. Both lights failed within two weeks. I returned the first failed light for a replacement and it has worked properly for one week so far. I m returning the second failed light also for a replacement. Willing to give them one more try. Color temperature, lumen output and hands off switching are perfect for my application. With the positive reviews I m hoping to get two that will work for the three year period they re guaranteed. 4Loose connection I bought it a month ago and tried to install today but it doesn t work.I opend the cover and found loose welding of small transformer 1great lights!brighter than flourescent, only draw 1/4 amp apiece. tough. dropped one off the scaffold about 12 feet during installation. nothing broken, still working. 8 lights in a 25x40 shop is like daylight.5Lightweight and Very Bright!Quick review: Installed four lights onto independent 1x6" boards, which I attached secured to my garage ceiling. I did not use the hardware provided to install, instead used 3/4" #6 flat screws attaching the lights to the boards and then 2.5" wood screws to attach the boards to the ceiling joints.Since I planned to install the lights flush to the ceiling, and not use the drop chains, I opted to use the 1x6" planks as recommended by another reviewer (much easier installation process: cut boards to length, install the screws into the board for mounting the light before placing on the ceiling, then install boards onto ceiling and finally attach lights to boards). And make sure to solve for the potential of the lights sliding off the screws once mounted on the boards, I used a set screw at the end of the board to prevent the light from moving. The only critique I have of the lights, at this point, is the light fixture itself is made of a lightweight plastic. Since the entire fixture is made of plastic, the entire light does not weigh much at all (certainly a positive when you need to suspend an item in the air), however the notches provided on the back of the light housing for use when flush mounting are a bit flimsy. I would have preferred the back portion of the case to be more rigid, or perhaps the mounting holes to be reinforced. Not a deal breaker for me, but something to be aware of. As I mentioned, since the entire light case is plastic, there is some flex and if you are wanting a metal housing ... don't buy this light set.Other than the all plastic housing, which may or may not be an issue for you, thus far the lights are great. The brightness and color are excellent. I hope to get many years of use.5It is like daylight as describedI was worried the 5k color would be blueish. It is like daylight as described. I installed 4 in my 25x27 garage. It lit up perfectly. My wife claims her retnas are on fire each time she turns them on. I think it's perfect for working on building my engines, working on vehicles or whatever projects you have going on in there. Plus, it keeps my wife from coming out to bug me too often. I could turn a few of them off using the pull chain switch.I gave these 4stars because I cannot find a cable to link them spaced apart. You have to link them to each other using the supplied connector. I contacted the seller to see if they could help. They responded promptly but said they did not have an extension link cable available.I highly recommend these. I'll be ordering more for the basement.4Poor quality and dead on arrival ...I am not in the habit of writing a review, but this is the worst product experience I have had and wanted to share with others considering this product.I ordered a 4 pack and all 4 arrived with one side of the trim cracked and broken. These were in their original packaging so not an issue caused by Amazon's shipping. I did not want to take the trouble of returning these since they were going in my garage and I was OK without the trim, so I started installing them. The first one I installed was working and bright - so good enough. I installed the second one and it would not light up. I took it down and tried to plug it in another outlet to test, but it was dead. I opened the third box and tested the light fixture from a wall plug. Even this one was dead. I finally tested the fourth one and it was working.Since I had already drilled and driven the hanging screws for the second fixture, I mounted this. As I said, the 5000K lights are bright if they work. When I tried to replace the 2 non-working lights, Amazon CS indicated they cannot replace part of the order since it is shipped as a 4-pack. So now I have to take these down and ship them back leaving holes in the ceiling in my garage. I am clearly not interested in replacing with these same fixtures after this experience.1Excellent Shop lightsThese are exactly what I needed for garage and workbench lighting replacement of old fluorescent fixtures (have been failing). Clear bright shop-type lighting. Fixtures are quite lightweight so easy to manipulate. I hung mine with included hangers, but they also included ceiling mounting screws. I will say that the length of the hangers is rather short but worked for me. They are corded so you need an electrical socket within 5 ft. Pull chain allows off/on if the socket is not switched with a regular wall swtich (mine are). They do have about a 1 second delay before coming on full brightness. As a replacement for a 4' fluorescent, they required no special knowledge to install - just hang and plug in.5A great workbench light that helps save energyI bought this light to use at my workbench in the basement. Many times, I walk into my work area, grab a tool and walk back out, so i wanted a way to have the lights come on and off automatically while providing a lot of light in the cases where I was going to do work on the workbench. This light met all of my requirements and works great.I would have given this 5 stars, but there are couple features/issues that hopefully can get integrated in future hardware revisions:1) There is a 1 to 3 second delay in the light coming on after I enter the room - this is something you need to keep in mind with where you install this light as you could potentially walk into a room expecting the lights to turn on and be left in the dark for a few brief seconds.2) The length of time to have the light stay on after it stops seeing motion is fixed at 10 minutes - in some installs, I would like to see this shorter, in others I would like to see it longer. A settable switch with different time intervals would be a great feature addition.3) The "shade" of the light is only as deep as the light bulb - i ended up installing the light so it was tilting towards the wall otherwise I was getting blinded every time i walked into the room.4Linkable YES but they independently controlled! WHAT!So i just put these lights up in my basement and i have to say they are pretty bright and cheaply priced, those are the positives. Now for the negatives, i dont like that they are independently controlled i would think if they are linked together 1 pull switch should control the whole run but it doesnt. The second thing is why not include a wire that you can link them together instead of having to butt them right against each other. With 4 pull switches hanging down every 4 ft it looks ridiculous not to mention not an efficient use of space. And then u got to go down the line to turn every one on. Really? Ok they are cheap i get it but come on!3Exactly what I needed I was looking for some lights for my garage because the switches are in funky places and there s not enough light when we come and go at night. For some reason searching LED Motion kept bringing up either nightlights or outdoor lights. This single light is plenty to light up our small two car garage and I plugged it into the garage door outlet on the ceiling so we don t have to fuss with light switches. My only complaint - it s not easy trying to flush mount it without a template, they tell you the distance between the slotted screw holes but on a ceiling it s really hard to get 4 screws exactly in the right place. I ended up 1/4 off and gave up, used the chains to mount it instead. The motion detection needs you to be basically within a 5 radius underneath it, our ceiling isn t that high so this might increase with height. It would be nice if it would turn on when we opened the door to the garage, maybe some directionality on the motion sensor would do this. 5Nice! Super bright! Too bright??Super bright and real nice. About 5 years ago I replaced a bunch of 15 year old fluorescent shop lights that were going bad. The replacement lights were nice, but they were starting to crap out after just 5 years!! The ballast in newer fluorescent lights aren't as robust, at least that's my determination. I figured rather than dealing with toxic tubes, I'd make the switch to LED. I replaced 80 watt 2-bulb fixtures in my garage and basement. I opted not to use the tube LED replacements you can buy for existing fixture because they are really ugly. These shop lights are thin and really add a nice touch. My basement has a low ceiling, only 6-1/2 feet high. The lights are really close to your head when standing up and really bright when sitting down. I originally was going to replace all the fixtures in my basement, but only did 1/2 of them on the shop side of the basement. The storage and computer side of the basement I left with the dimmer traditional tube lights because these LED lights are TOO bright. If you have low ceilings, you might consider a dimmer LED if you are looking to replace them unless it's a workshop area. Being too close overhead, it's stressful for reading under and doesn't make you feel very comfortable if you are sitting and relaxing. However, on the shop side the bright light is certainly a plus especially when working with intricate and delicate parts.I also use one of these lights in my photo taking area. Previously I had 4 100-watt incandescent lights and my photos STILL came out dimmer than they should be. ONE of these shop lights replaced all 4 incandescent and my photos come out brighter! My garage has 12 foot ceilings and the light dispersion is awesome. 4 of these went in the garage to replace 4 old tube fixtures. I'd say it's roughly 120% brighter than before. It's a standard 2-car garage and I debated installing 8 of them, but that would have been overkill. I might add 2 more over the workbench area, but for now it's already improved greatly. At first I disliked the on-off switch chain length. 19 inches is really long, especially for a low ceiling. The supplied cable for hanging these is also too long for a low ceiling and there is no way to adjust the cable length. I cut the chain length to just 3 inches on a couple of them in the basement. I opted to not use the cables for hanging them, and instead used the old S-hook and chain that was supplied with my old lights so these would sit closer to the ceiling. As for the garage, the supplied cable hardware and chain length worked perfectly. As for longevity, these come with a 5-year warranty and I appreciate that. Hopefully these don't crap out just over 5 years like the old tube ballast fixtures did. I don't expect them to, but at the same time I've had other LED lights crap out after only a fraction of their advertised hour longevity. 5 year warranty protection is real nice and I do appreciate the coverage.Overall I recommend these lights and so far enjoy them.5An excellent, instantaneous light for entering a dark space This was a great addition to my garage. There is very minimal light coming in from windows, so it is dark inside even on the brightest day. I hung this light in an area just inside the entrance door. The light comes on instantly as soon as you step in the garage. So, even when you're coming in from bright sunlight, your eyes don't need to adjust. The light emitted is as bright as daylight, and much brighter than the other overhead fluorescent lights on the ceiling. I liked it so much that I ordered a second to illuminate the other half of the 2-stall garage. I would highly recommend this light. 5Best upgrade to my garage workshopBest upgrade to my garage workshop. It really lit up the place and makes it a lot easier to work in. Took a star off because it does not flush mount to the ceiling, but I looked inside and decided to drill holes through the plastic and attatch it like that. Also, you can dasy chain them to each other, but only if you butt the ends together. To space them out I cut the cord for the second one and soldered the adapter to the end of that, and it worked perfectly. Also, after installing them, one of the LED strips in one of the four lights stopped working and after taking it appart I saw the negative wire solder connection to the LEDs had come loose. I soldered it back in and works fine. So, yeah they are cheap, give off great light but quality control might not be quite there. Still get 4 stars because I can now see perfectly in there, and they all work well with some tinkering ;)4Very good value for the moneyVery good value for the money. I ordered 8 of these lights for my 20'x20' garage workshop. I installed plugs on the ceiling, simply bringing wires on the surface from the existing lights (two light bulbs mounted on ceramic holders). I was able to surface mount the 8 lights and finish the work in about 4 hours. The result is a very bright environment with a very pleasant light. Since these are LED lights, there is no flickering and no buzzing. There is still a ~1 second delay from when you switch them on and when they actually light up, but that doesn't bother me at all.Overall, very happy with the purchase.5Sensor doesn't work well. Need to be right underneath ... Sensor doesn't work well. Need to be right underneath and jumping up and down for a few seconds for it to work. Spoke to seller and they asked me to drive 40 minutes to their office to see if they can service it. 1Bought four then bought two more. Bought for of these to mount in the garage in the second outlet for the garage door openers so they would come on when parking the cars, giving more light when backing the cars into the garage. Also put two on the steps leading from the house into the garage so we did not have to flip on the lights to see going down. They work well. Wife liked them so much we got two more and stuck them in her over sized pantry. The only down side is one of them was about a foot from a white wall and seemed to detect itself and stayed on with a very low, dim light. We moved it another foot away from the wall and it worked as advertised. Now looking at replacing other lights around the house with the same type of motion lights, except with a fancier appearance. 5
