Customer Reviews

Probably the best step up transformer out thereExcellent product and finally a step up transformer that looks and feel more solid than most of the other options available! The only trick to remember, is to turn on the transformer and wait for a minute or so before turning on the appliances that you heave connected, for instance the WMF coffee machine that I use it for (use it in the US for European appliances). If you don t wait, the peak of both the transformer intiating and the coffee machine (1100 watts) will be too much. The transformer does not get warm, at least not to any extend it s worth mentioning, and importantly it is completely quiet!Very happy with the purchase and would buy the same brand again. Admittedly not cheap, but I would hate to buy a transformer and not feel same about it.Last but not least, delivered on time!5Disappointed. Possibly a manufacturer defect?Purchased this to run electronics from the US while living in Poland. Transformer worked in the office to run a crockpot. Brought it home after the holiday and plugged it in - it immediately tripped the breaker. There was no external load on the unit and it was switched off! I plugged another transformer into the outlet (this an off brand supplied by my employer) and no problems.Called an electrician who spent about an hour testing corcuits and even replaced the breaker Incase it was faulty. After all that, the unit still trips the breaker immediately on plug in. It appears that I now have a 25lb door stop... by the time I d figured out there was a problem, I was past Amazon s return period.1Works great in the UKI took it to the UK and used it for charging my phone, razor, camera batteries etc. (no hair driers or curlers). It was silent and did the job, it also has a 240v pass through so when you plug it in to a UK socket you still have a socket available on the unit. This proved to be quite useful since in the three hotels I stayed at the hot water kettle or light plugs into the only socket on the counter, this allowed the unit to be on and use the socket. Note you have to buy the UK plug adapter.5Quiet and Efficient, high Quality, very compact for a transformer of such high power ratingThe 450W version weighs 5 lbs., not 4.3 lbs. as stated here (The 350W version weighs 4.3 lbs.).Quiet: With no load, I have to put my ear close to the transformer to hear any hum.Efficient: With no load, it draws a fraction of a Watt, my Kill-A-Watt meter reads 0 W.Quality: Solidly built, with a toroidal transformer. The base is steel, with an aluminum top cover. All screws are machine screws, not sheet metal screws. The switch is a two-pole switch, to disconnect both Live and Neutral when power is turned off.The only concern I have, which applies to most multi-voltage products, is that with the supplied European plug there is no assurance that the outputs will have Live and Neutral on the right pins. If you care about this, you can check it with a circuit tester. If you are in the US, you can just use a standard US IEC cord for the input which will guarantee that Live and Neutral are on the right output pins. If you are in the UK, you can use a standard UK IEC cord. Ideally, they could add a red LED to indicate that the input polarity is wrong, letting the user know that the input plug needs to be inserted the other way.5Great transformer. It's been used in EuropeWe moved to Europe and we've been using this transformer for more than 3 months already. It works great. We're using it for the espresso coffee machine, Breville, with a power of 1600 Watts, the Kitchenaid Artisan, the juice extractor (800 Watts) and all the kitchen appliances we brought from USA. Of course we don't use them all at the same time! The transformer is super quiet and it doesn't get hot at all. I'm saying this because I read some reviews about others getting very noisy and very hot.So far it's been the best solution for keeping our American appliances!5Works flawlesslyThis is both a step and and a step down transformer. Make sure you are going the correct direction. I bought a centerfuge from Europe and forgot they use 220V there. This was a very inexpensive option to fix my problem. We have been using it for several months now and it performs without a flaw. It s small so it fit on the counter without a problem. It doesn t get hot so I can have other equipment around it. The only problem I had was when we set it up my tech set it up for 230 to 120. The device took the power without any problems but the centerfuge wasn t working. I got called in and noticed the problem. Once the lines were reversed it has worked flawlessly.5Don't touch the metal part of the converter or you will get electrical shockThe reason I purchased this product because it is CSA / confirms to UL standard. I plugged it in to 220 Indonesia outlet to convert to 120v computer. The 220 outlets do not have grounding, which resulted of me getting electrical shock if I touched the metal part of the converter. I had to be very careful to only touch the plastic part of the converter/1Perfect transformer if you want to connect devices from Europe which need plenty of power.I am using this transformer in the United States to power a Italian Rancilio coffee maker and a Askaso grinding mill. It has enough power to deal with both of those at the same time. The coffee sucks a maxmium of 1100 watts of power and the grinder 200 watts. It also works perfectly fine with a german mixer I own. This thing is perfect for people who live in the United States or other countries which have 110V/60Hz or even the other way around if they want to move to a European country with 230V/50Hz. The transformer works both ways. Just make sure that you have the right input voltage selcted on the backside. Conclusion: I have this transformer in daily use since a year. Sometimes its powered up the whole day. I switch it on and off with a switchable wall plug. If you do it this way make sure there is no load switched on it would cause peak currents otherwise which can damage the transformer, the switchable plug or the attached devices. The design of the transformer is very sturdy. It feels nice and well fabricated. It is also super heavy. It feels good that way. No smell or noise coming out of it. I also tried it with a European hair dryer, 900 watts. Worked perfectly as well.100% recommendation.5Just what you want, Solid, Quiet and Works PerfectlyAfter purchasing a guitar amplifier from an overseas vendor from the USA, it turned out to be European voltage required. I then needed a transformer to turn our 120 volts into 240volts. There were many available but also many complaints for a variety of reasons. My requirements was to supply 72 watts of power..this unit supplies way over that so I felt it would not be over worked. It performed perfectly. Its quiet, stays cool and appears to be built quite solidly. Its just what I needed.5Runs quiet and stays coolI purchased the Krieger 1150 watt voltage transformer to use as a step up transformer, to convert 110V to 220V. I use it for studio monitors purchased in Europe not realizing that the monitors didn't have a 120/ 230 switch like my old monitors have. I live overseas and the cost to ship them back was more then the monitors. Quite an overlook, "hey", but that's what happened. So I scaled the net for transformers reading so many reviews, many which spoke about "smells and smoke" . But when I came across the Krieger most of the reviews where positive, and I needed something reliable, so I chanced it, and I'm glad that I did. The 1150 watt transformer may be overkill for what I need it for but at least if I where to purchase anymore gear needing conversion I have the power. The Krieger runs ''quiet'' which is a big plus for me as its in close proximity to my listening position. It also stays pretty cool to the touch. The unit seems well made, good weight and looks good. I was very concerned as to if there would be any audible interference, like a hum through the studio monitors. And I'm thankful to say there is no hum at all. I can't speak on its longevity, but I do hope that it last. This is my first time using a converter transformer, and I'm definitely glad I made the choice to go with the Krieger. "Thumbs up"!!5
