Customer Reviews

Makes it easier for beginners, buy eventually falls apart I initially was happy with the purchase (it really did help a newb like me), but I was so disappointed that it started to disintegrate and left little orange pieces of rubber all over my walls after the first room was completed. They caused massive streak marks and it somehow worked it's way back into my pail of compound. Four months later and I found more pieces of it on my wall today! I have no clue where it came from (I have brand new pail of compound), but it is still causing headaches. For small jobs it probably would've been ok, but doing more than 1 room, it did not hold up 2Good for smoothing wide sheetrock joints I used this to smooth wide drywall joints after working them first with a 14" drywall knife. This squeegee is good for the final finish on a wide joint. It minimizes the amount of sanding needed. I also used the squeegee for smoothing areas which are being floated. It's easier to get a smooth, level surface with this tool than with a drywall knife. I would purchase again. For me, this does not replace a drywall knife, it just allows you to get a smoother finish on the drywall compound you have already laid down. 5Good Bought this to skim coat an old distressed but saveable plaster wall with joint compound to restore the surface. It did just what I wanted. It will spread a very even base coat (1/16") very quickly and very evenly. After this first coat dryed I finished smothing the wall with a final super thin skim coat applied with a steel trowel .Great result with very little sanding. 5Good for non-professional I hate finishing drywall. But I did read good reviews for this tool. The reviews were right! A crappy drywaller had partially finished some walls in our house before we fired him. I needed to fix what he had done so I used a large trowel to lay some mud then lightly ran the squeegee down. Do not do it more than twice. After it dried I lightly sanded it. It looks pretty good. Well worth the money. 5I can't begin to explain how much I love this tool I can't begin to explain how much I love this tool. I am currently remodeling a 35-year-old house with bad texturing and also changing walls around and opening up rooms always create a problem with matching up, this little buddy has made life so much easier for me making smooth transitions between new and old and beautifully covering problem areas! I treat it like a diamond because I cannot live without it now! Worth every penny. 5Easy to use! I m a GC and woodworker by trade. I ve never mudded anything larger than a small patch and certainly never skim coated. For $18 figured I d try this out. Man am I glad I did. It was easy(I made a mess with mud of course) and look at the picture, one coat and done!Only down side is that the blade is not big(top to bottom) so mud builds quickly and falls off. 5Fantastic Tool For DIYers Works great for skim coating the walls. Need to be extra careful not to damage the rubber knife or allow mud to dry on it. With proper care and use this thing is a must have for anyone doing sheetrock/drywall work. Highly recommend this size. Any larger seems unmanageable. 5It is a quality tool, but... I've done a lot of skim coating in my old house. If you haven't tried skim coating, it is a really good way to get rid of that awful spray on texture that wall finisher use to cover up their sub-par taping work. I bought this hoping that the flex blade would reduce the number of tool marks left behind. In a way, it did. It still left tool marks, but they were different. I think my main issue with this item is that it puts a pretty thick coat down allowing deeper (yet more infrequent) tool marks to be made. I also used a LOT more compound than I would have with a steel knife. I suppose the thicker layer would be useful ti cover a really bumpy wall. All in all, I prefer the traditional steel blade. Steel blades require a steeper learning curve, but once mastered, I feel the results are better 3I'll never go back to metal trowels again I just completed my first project skim coating my very old kitchen walls. This trowel is AWESOME and I wish I would have known about it when I was remodeling my basement. I applied slightly watered-down mud to the walls with a wet, thick nap paint roller. I then used the squeegee trowel to smooth it all out. I worked in 4ft by 4ft sections, top to bottom. It was so easy and fast. Beats the crap out of using metal trowels to try and make your ceilings and walls look level and smooth. 5I used my trowel on literally three occasions (just bought it 1-2 months ago) and was amazed to see the blade come tumbling off and land ... In five minutes of clicking around, I see no way to contact the "seller" to complain about this, so I'm doing it here instead.Did someone make a production-change to this without doing even a LITTLE testing? There are two screws holding the handle to the blade. They thread ONLY into the plastic topping the blade, maybe penetrating 2/3 of the way through. I used my trowel on literally three occasions (just bought it 1-2 months ago) and was amazed to see the blade come tumbling off and land with a splat on my forearm while in use on the third small repair project. We're talking less than 100SF of gyp troweled before this happened.Obviously, those screws needed to be secured through nuts, or at minimum, fully penetrate the plastic blade.Yes, I can fix this without a lot of trouble. But I shouldn't have to. And it's such a DUMB flaw in an otherwise well-designed tool that it's hard not to complain about it. 2
