Customer Reviews

Lasted Seven Weeks Before Failure. The 128Gb Komputer Bay CF card worked fine for seven weeks at which point it failed. The failure prevented the Canon 5DS r from operating. A camera error displayed Card 1, so I pulled it and the camera worked fine writing to the installed SF card. The price I paid in June of 2017 was $86, which was too good to be true. I am glad it didn't fail during a paying job.1Fast, reliable and cheapNeeded to write a review of this one as I have seen some negative reviews of this card, particularly for Canon cameras. I put this in my EOS 5D Mk Ii, formatted it, shot video, downloaded it via the Transcend USB 3.0 adapter I also bought here and never had so much a a glitch. Plus is is fast ... really fast. Benchmark is below but it lives up to its advertisement and is faster all around than my internal SATA drive.-----------------------------------------------------------------------CrystalDiskMark 3.0.3 Shizuku Edition x64 (C) 2007-2013 hiyohiyo Crystal Dew World : http://crystalmark.info/----------------------------------------------------------------------- Sequential Read : 132.630 MB/s Sequential Write : 102.171 MB/s Random Read 512KB : 113.634 MB/s Random Write 512KB : 45.085 MB/s Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 11.484 MB/s [ 2803.8 IOPS] Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 1.801 MB/s [ 439.6 IOPS] Random Read 4KB (QD=32) : 13.333 MB/s [ 3255.2 IOPS] Random Write 4KB (QD=32) : 2.188 MB/s [ 534.1 IOPS] Test : 1000 MB [H: 0.5% (0.5/119.2 GB)] (x5) Date : 2015/01/08 21:04:04 OS : Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 [6.1 Build 7601] (x64)5DOA or other malfunctionDOA? Did not work with my Canon 5DII as others have been able to. Could not format the card in camera and did not want to try to force it to format on a PC. Returned for a refund.UPDATE: Bought another one after Komputerbay offered to send a replacement and only asked to be paid if the CF card worked this time around(I did not accept this offer but simply decided to give it another chance and bought a new one from Amazon). This time the CF card did format in my 5DII as it should and so far its worked without a glitch. Three stars because now the CF card works as it should and an extra because Komputerbay stood by its product and offered a way forward.UPDATEII: Now using with my Canon 5DSR. Fast and reliable so far. In fact someone tested this as one of the faster CF cards out there with the 5DSR.UPDATE III: Just starting to shows signs of failure with some pictures not transferring correctly. Had this for a few years now - so not a huge issue. However, I did take good care of it, and there are no outer signs of damage.******Warning on Amazon returns (not Komputerbay related): Even if I used the email return sticker from Amazon both the large one on the outside and the small one on the inside and got an email confirmation after a day or so that Amazon's carrier had recorded the return Amazon did not inspect the package when they got it and in stead gave me yet another refund for an other item altogether.Even after several calls carefully explaining everything repeatedly - including telling them to withdraw the extra refund I was not entitled to - Amazon continued to mess this return up. I am frankly not sure if they ever found out about their mistake.Lesson learned: Document everything with returns - you may need it. If anything goes wrong insist on writing to them (Amazon seems to prefer perpetual ignorance).3Great card, fast and quality.11-30-16 Update.Recently I have had two cards fail on me. One of the original cards I purchased and now the replacement. Something is happening to them. They are unreadable by any of my cameras. The first one would completely lock up my camera, forcing me to pull the batteries and reboot the entire system. Now the replacement they have sent is not readable by any of my cameras. I'm not sure what is going on. I use Canon 5D Mark III's and II's as well as a Canon 5Ds. This is very frustrating.Great Card. No issues Run it on standard card reader and no problem. They claim that it can only work with UDMA 7 card readers but I have had no issues so far. Working with two of them for the past 6 months.3Canon 1792x1008 Magic Lantern RAW 23.976 fps ContinuousBeats my old Hoodman 64Gb 1600x900 ML RAW continuous.Shooting at 1792x1008 RAW is pretty darn close to 1920x1080 HD RAW.I decided to revisit my Canon 5d2 running Magic Lantern because I shot my last short film on a Sony a7s2 4k sLog3 and my editor had such a hard time color correcting. Shooting on the 5d2 is simple wysiwyg and RAW makes post color correction simple with total control over blown out windows. The subject's and similarly lit background color is good right out of the camera.5Komputerbay 128GB Professional Compact Flash review - for me, good stuff.Excellent value, works. I have a Canon EOS 5D Mark III. The SD slot, regardless of what speed SD memory card you put in it, operates at one speed only, very slow. BUT, the Compact Flash slot on the camera is very FAST. So, even though CF cards are more expensive than a comparable SD card, I opted to buy two 128 gig CF cards. Before I did so, I read all I could on the web about CF cards and various brands, speeds, etc. In digging around, I kept finding a few mentions of a company called Komputer Bay. Not a lot, but enough comments and reviews to get my interest up, particularly the prices for this brand versus other more well know 'Name" brands. So, I bought one, then another and have never looked back. Work flawlessly, format with no problem, built like little tanks. If you're looking for CF memory, you can't go wrong with this brand.5Worked fine for 51 weeksI bought 2 of these to go with my used 1dx. Rarely outside of the camera, except when using a reader to transfer pictures. Medium heavy usage - 1000-1500 pictures per weekend for about 20 weeks of the year. No damage, no shock to the system, just a batch of pictures that ~ 10% transferred. This happened Expected to last longer than a year. I would go with another brand.2Good price, fast shipping and a very great productThis is from a company that may have few reviews, however, I bought the 228GB card a while back to try intents the new Canon 50.6 Mp 5DS and 5DSR and it did an excellent job with the state of the art medium format dslr. I liked it so much I placed an order for a second one as a back up and to also use with my Canon 1D X, my canon 1D Mark IV and my Canon 5D Mark II. I would strongly recommend this card for any camera using this type of media. As a professional photo journalist speed and reliability are of the upmost importance next to the ability to record correctly. I'll be a customer for the future. Great communication from the seller and super fast shipping. Things which are important to all of us. Last but not least he price is reasonable and5Magic Lantern User Abilities...I've purchased many Komputerbay cards specifically for recording DNG image sequences using Magic Lantern. I've worked with the 5D III, the 5D II, and the 50D. Thus far, I have purchased the original 128GB 1000x, the 1050x, and now the 1066x. I'll say this. Every card is different. Some cards are faster than others. Some cards are more reliable than others. With the 5D II this particular 1066x card is slower than the 1050x. I believe it to be related to the EXFAT vs. FAT32 card formatting issue with the 5D II.This particular card did not work with Magic Lantern on the 5D II. It made the camera completely unresponsive a number of times in the middle of the ML firmware card-boot process. The camera wouldn't even turn on for a number of times. Additionally, there was an image that was burned into the LCD because of the card's inability to complete the bootable card process... Ouch. However, I've worked with ML for years and I know there are a thousand ways to make ML work with nearly any card. After trying about 10 different ML firmware builds, I was able to successfully install the latest Nightly Build on the card. Interestingly enough, i had to formate the card to FAT32 in the computer first and then instal the typical ML folder, autoexecute, and firmware update file. The fact that this particular 1066x is slower than one of my 1050x cards is a bottleneck for my particular production techniques. I will be returning this card to buy another 1066x. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that the next card will be faster. My specific reason for this return is that 1: the card is quite fast enough to record at all the of recording frame rates and sizes and 2: I believe that a card that can write faster than what the camera can actually record produces more stable results during longer takes. All in all, I'll rate it 3 stars. Unfortunately, this is such a must have card and that is why it deserves 5 stars. However, if this particular 1066x is slower than a 1050x on the 5D II than that leaves room for Komputerbay to continue to produce better cards and not just a increased number on the sticker. Again though, don't worry. It's probably this one card and the rest are all super fast! F.Y.I. I picked up this card in the first week or the 1066x release. It's sure to stay for a while and will more than likely become the card of choice for future generations.3Died after 4 months. That sucks. Bought 17 Jul 17 - Died 30 Oct 17. Luckily, I shoot dual card and had backups on the photos that went into afterlife. Used mostly in a Canon 5D3, some Magic Lantern raw video, but mostly straight photos, saved in raw format.Attempted recovery of card using a bootable version SystemRescueCd, using photorec and test disk. Card is dead, dead, dead. Died in the middle of importing cards into the computer. The rating may go up after I contact KB and see if this is a warranty issue. I'm looking at warranty info on Amazon on KB's site...not sure how long it's for. We'll see - I will update. 1Good value and fast enoughI have six of these now. They ve been out for a while and arent the fastest but the are plenty fast enough to keep up with my Canon 5D and the card holds a lot of photos, even when shooting in raw format. They have been very reliableThis is a compact flash card, you know the big one, not the inny binny one so make sure your device fits it5
