Customer Reviews

Just a small observation in hindsight...I love this stopper! Looks beautiful and seems constructed well, however it did not come with the threaded nut to clamp it down to the bottom of the tub, luckily the old one that was being replaced with was still in good enough shape to reuse in this project. If you purchase I suggest you keep your old threaded washer nut or find another as this will not come with one.5The lift and lock works nicely. Unscrewing the top is much easier (pull up ... I was sick of replacing the cheap ones the hardware store sold. These looked cheap when I got them because of the packaging. However, once I opened and installed these, I could tell they were much heavier duty than the rest. The lift and lock works nicely. Unscrewing the top is much easier (pull up half way and unscrew) when you have a hair clog than the others too. I am constantly cleaning wookie wigs out of the drain living with 3 females. Hopefully, I won't have to buy another one of these for a while. It looks that way though. 5Good product. Installs just like any other tub drainGood product. Installs just like any other tub drain. One thing to know is the outside diameter of the threaded piece (part that goes into drain) is about 1 7/8" Outside Diameter. This does not come with an adapter to remove for smaller diameter drains. Fit perfect for my tub drain. Measure your existing drain before ordering. I believe this was a coarse threaded one as well.4SIZE NOT 1 1/2"All over this item its listed as 1 1/2", even the package is. What I received measures a little more than 1 3/4" diameter, as others have pointed out. Quality seems good though. The problem is that either Kingston Brass or Amazon Warehouse is mispackaging these items. Waste of my time, now I have to reorder and deal with a return!1Quality Product, As Described Bathtub Drains Can Be ConfusingQuality product. The depth from the front (top)face of the flange to the bottom is 1-3/8". Otherwise the specs in the description are accurate. Bathtub drains are confusing and this will be the wrong threads and 1/2" too long for some older drains that are 16 threads per inch. This does not use adapters, it must match the drain.5Lift and Lock drain in package is not the one that is advertised - CORRECTION!Actually, this appears to be a nice product. However, the Amazon description states it is for a 1 1/2 inch drain. So does Kingston Brass's description on the package. The PROBLEM is that the drain in the package is 1 7/8 inch and NOT 1 1/2 inch. So, I suspect someone switched the packaging since there was already a little plumbers putty on the threads. This product is useless to me.MAJOR UPDATE: I did not make the correct measurement. For some reason, the drain are actually measured by the discharge pipe below the tub - which, by the way, is invisible. So, I apparently need a drain that is 1 1/4 inch or less (no way to measure). DO NOT measure the existing drain (mine is 1 1/2 inches across). This probably will cause you to order the wrong one as I did. So, the product shipped to me appears to be a very nice product. However, it will not replace the one I have that is 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused5Product labeling from Factory is WRONGI read another buyer's review and ignored it in that I thought the problem had been fixed. It has not. The description in Amazon AND on the product says the product is 1 1/2 " across the bottom of the stopper that is screwed into the tub. It, instead, is 1 7/8". Through the label I tracked this back to the factory and spent 1/2 hour talking to the factory. The person then referred my concern to a "parts specialist" who essentially said I was wrong. THe specification sheet that is packed INSIDE the product agrees with me in that the diagram clearly shows it to be 1 1/2"1Part number incorrectThis part number should have a 1.5inch pipe. It is however a 1 7/8 inch pipe. so be careful when ordering this item. If the drain has a 1.5 inch pipe this will not work. As for the product itself, this is a really well build drain plug. It looks good, feels good and I am sure it will work well with a 1 7/8 inch opening.1A lovely piece of brass that was easy to installA lovely piece of brass that was easy to install, replacing a similar 20 year old tub drain.I used a forked drain removal tool to get the old drain out and re-used the plastic threadinsert for proper sizing. I also used plumber's putty in addition to the supplied rubbergrommet. The feel of this drain is hefty and should last another 20 years. Delivery was prompt.5Solid Product, Had to Remove Drain InsertAs noted elsewhere, good product but the diameter across the threads was too big initially. Thanks to other reviews, I saw that there was an insert that I had to unscrew from the drain. Then this product fit. I would have rated a 5 if Kingston had taken then time to add a simple instruction regarding the insert.4A Solution to the 1.5 Inch Diamater IssueThis is a solid product - quite literally - that feels heavy in hand and is much better than many other options available in the marketplace. I am writing this review to explain the 1.5 inch width issue that many have complained about.Initially, I had the same problem that others had: it was too big to fit in the bathtub hole. I ordered another product from amazon but with a different manufacturor and 1.5 inch diameter: same problem, it was too big.Long story short, turns out that there was a plastic sleeve left in the hole that was a part of the old drain. Once I removed that sleeve - I used a special wrench but it could also be cut with some effort - the hole diameter was perfect for the product. There are drains you can buy that "adapt" to the two different standard sizes with the use of a sleeve similar to the one i had to remove. The previous owner had used such a drain. The rest of the project went without a hitch and it's looking great! I will try to upload some pictures that will help explain this a bit better.I think the seller of this product can do a better job explaining such things on this board, hence the 4 stars.4
