Not good. Will contact customer support and see what happenBought 2 of these on 12/29/2016 received them 01/06/2017 and installed one of them a few days after receiving them in good condition, right from the start I had to tap the box, pick it up kind of play with it to make it work, should have returned it. Thought I got lucky when it started working, but then It stopped working 05/13/17. I installed the 2nd one and it lasted for 2 days. Again had to kind of play around with it to make it work, but this one never worked right, it would static on and off till you picked it up and set it back down or turned it off and unplugged it. So in 5 months I'm 0 for 2. Not good. Will contact customer support and see what happen. I will keep you all posted.1Look cheaper and better - J-Tech misses the markI was trying to use this hub in a similar fashion as one I used before in another room. Unfortunately, this hub (costing about $10 more) was clearly out-performed by its cheaper rival. In the case of this hub, I was connecting three television inputs so that I can switch between them with the IR output.Unlike the less expensive model, this hub does not include an additional IR bulb so you are forced to aim the IR transmitter to the hub, no matter the distance. In my case, the hub was about 20' away and the transmitter had difficulty finding the IR receiver.Shortly thereafter the hub changed the output mode without our touching the remote or hub. This happened several times until I just reconfigured my receiver to accept all of the inputs we added to the J-Tech Digital Hub1Great product. I previously had a similar product from ...Great product. I previously had a similar product from another manufacturer, but you had to physically get up and go press a button to switch between inputs. I had been thinking how great it would be to just change with a remote. I decided to purchase a Harmony remote that control several devices. I was hoping it would control the J-Tech devices also. It did. Now I can press an activity button on the Harmony remote and it will change all devices, including the J-Tech devices to the appropriate input. This is extremely practical for me. Wondering why I waited so long and regret now that I kept getting off the couch and walking clear across the room just to change inputs. The J-Tech product seems well made and works flawlessly right out of the box. Plug in outlet adapter, plug in appropriate HDMI cables, insert battery in remote and you're ready to go. And yes, battery is provided.5Xbox one X and Fire sticks... Not welcomed!?!?!*Updated 2/1/20 this item finally shorted out and died on me. No items would work. Not PlayStation 4, Mini Nintendos, mini PS, or any items! i tried switching ports, switching channels, testing the power plug. all items would not send a signal to my monitor or Tv. Sad that it only worked (half assed) for a little over a year. I'm dropping it from two stars to one.I would have liked to have given this product more stars but, I cannot honestly! The item would not work with my Xbox One X nor with my Amazon Fire stick. It works well enough with my PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. But being that it will only work with two of my game units and not all three, kind of delineates the reason for having the HDMI hub...With my Xbox One X I tried swapping out HDMI cables, switching HDMI ports on the hub itself, and changing the settings from 4K to 1080. Nothing worked and for whatever reason it would not recognize my Xbox.the reason it doesn't work with my fire stick is a different reason and that's because of design. The HDMI ports on the Hub are placed too close together for the width of the fire stick. So because of the awkward design of the fire stick, I can only plug the fire stick in and then no other ports can be used. A bit of spacing on the HDMI hub could have alleviated this issue and only made the Hub slightly larger in size but greater in usage!1Static issues. Edit: customer service contactedI cannot believe I did not return this item when I had the chance. Buyer Beware. If you have this product and it goes to static at anytime during your return period, return it. It will not get better. It went to static the first couple days I had it, to resolve the issue you change the output, then change it back by pushing the Source button. I figured this was just a glitch. 2 months later it is doing it much more often. I cannot believe I paid a premium for a device that works no better than the less expensive devices. I don't think having a product like this should have a return policy limited to less than 3 months. I bought this in May on Amazon, shipped from J-Tech and it sucks. I made sure to post my feeling about this on other sites so others know as well. I don't think I need to include a photo, just google static and you will see images. But I will post a picture of my hookup.Edit Sat Aug 8th 2015I was notified by Customer Service that the device has a one year warranty. And they offered a replacement device. I requested a return label and replacement device. I am updating this to 3 stars until I get and test the replacement. Fingers crossed that I have a defective device.Edit: 9/11/2015After a week of testing the new unit I have no more issues to report. It appears that my initial device was malfunctioning, and that the replacement works perfect. I don't notice any color or quality degradation from connecting directly to the projectors hdmi. I have updated my review to five stars, which is what the working product deserves. The company was quick to remedy my issues and responded to all my emails. I would definitely recommend to a friend. I feel that I really was unlucky getting a non working one, because the build quality is actually really solid.5TrashThis device did not regularly automatically switch on its own. I had contacted J-Tech about it. They would not replace, as some devices switches are plugged into constantly receive signals so they will not auto switch. It seemed like it was going to be a hassle to deal with them. Even with the remote, I would still need to reset (unplug) this device for some unknown reason. The remote control has broken now, as I have replaced batteries and it is not working. I am breaking down and replacing this entire unit with a different brand. Junk.1Nice Switch for the Price., but not perfect.Received this HDMI Switch today and replace my MonoPrice HDMI switch that I had for awhile. The MonoPrice was starting to give me issues on some of my devices. I have 4 devices connected to it, 3 different Android boxes running different OS's and one PS3. The PS3 did not work, no signal at all, but I can always use an HDMI port on my 4k TV, but rarely use the PS3.Since my Android boxes run 24/7, when I switch inputs on the switch, the PIP pops up on my TV screen for about a minute. First I thought it would be annoying, but after using the switch for awhile, it is a pretty neat enhancement. Of course, I will have to like it, because I don't see a way to disable it......Last issue, is that it is only HDMI 1.4 and not 2.*., that means that it will only passthrough 4k at 30fps, and not a full 60fps. But, again, I can live with that, since my other media players connect to my AVR so I get full 4k video at 60fps.5Great for use with a Logitech remoteI'm very happy with this unit. I wanted a switch that I could use with my Logitech remote. I was happy to see that this unit is already registered with Logitech, so no remote manual learning was necessary, making setup pretty quick. As an extra, they threw in an HDMI-to-micro-HDMI cable, which is nice. My only complaint is that the power cord is only about three feet long which is about a foot shorter than ideal for me.5Does what I wantWorks great and solved my problem. It will switch back and forth automatically when powering up/down other inputs.I bought this because when switching between my laptop and my gaming computer my LG monitor required about 7 or 8 button presses which put an undue stress on the (cheap) switch. LG sent me a refurbished monitor, but I didn't want to go through all the trouble ever again. This allows me to use one input on the monitor so the only thing I have to switch is this device which is done either manually or with the supplied remote. Or, it also works automatically as mentioned. Also, seems well built. Time will tell.UPDATE:A while ago it started giving me problems for no apparent reason. Sometimes the switch just won't respond to my key presses on the remote. It has been getting progressively worse. Intermittently it will work OK, but most times now it takes several key presses to work. .UPDATE 2:It appears to be a low battery causing the problem. The device itself works fine. I deducted 1 star because of poor battery life....4Better option for always-on devicesThis is a review of the J-Tech four port HDMI switch with PIP, ASIN B00OJMAXZ2.I bought this to replace an auto-switching 4-port HDMI switch, which I put up with for months: It was switching inputs in the middle of watching programs, for no apparent reason. There are tons of auto-switching units out there. My guess is they're all built around the same lousy chip that does not offer a disable option. The problem is, only one of my HDMI devices has a traditional on-off switch. My Google Chrome and Apple TV are not designed to be turned off, which does not mesh well with HDMI auto-switching. Especially when the devices are located remotely. For my application, the key feature of this switch is that I can turn off the "Auto" switching function. I would prefer a hardware slide switch instead of the electronic switching, but I couldn't find one of those at any reasonable price. So this will have to do. My application is multiple HDMI devices on a rack, mounted 50 feet away from the TV. So, all the pretty lights on the front panel of the J-Tech make my laundry room look a little more like Christmas. The PIP function is actually helpful, too, as I can see that my other always-on devices are, in fact, working. There's no explanatory info on the PIP functions in the brief manual, so I'm not really clear on when the PIP shows up and disappears. But it does seem to show up when switching and disappears shortly thereafter. The remote control has soft pushbuttons which are helpful, but the manual does not fully explain all the buttons. The input LEDs are right - to - left (4, 3, 2, 1) on the front panel, which seems odd to me but has no effect in my setup. I'll guess that the board was designed by somebody who spoke a language that reads right to left. This was a lifesaver for me, and I'll never buy another auto-switching HDMI switch again.I paid the street price for this unit, and I was not compensated in any way by anyone for writing this.4
