    Performs the task wellI needed a shoulder strap for a messenger bag that I used for my evening music class. This one had a decent price and seemed wide enough to distribute the load. I bought the camo version. It works great and has interesting bumps that distribute the weight it seems and keeps it on my shoulder as well as allowing air to pass. Its just a shoulder pad but it works.5Seems like a nice strap - made my bag feel much ...Seems like a nice strap - made my bag feel much lighter - but I received the wrong size (the standard larger one) and had to return it.3No more bag slipping off my shoulderDefinitely does what it is supposed to do - adds some comfort and keeps my laptop bag from slipping off my shoulder. The cushions are air-filled pockets, which is a bit strange and probably not the most comfortable material out there, but it works ok.4A Little UncomfortableI recently bought a bunch of different shoulder strap pads for my sling style bag. This one was disappointing because it has so much potential. It fits a 1.5 inch wide strap perfectly and they stay in place really well because they have grip on the inside of the strap. The length is also perfect. The prolbem is the comfort. They certainly aren t worse than having no strap at all but they aren t much better. It might just be my use case: which was one strap on my should, and another across my chest, but I found these strap applying a lot of pressure. They do help prevent the straps from digging into my skin, which is even more uncomfortable, but they instread distribute that pain evenly across a larger area. I would give the same manufacturer a chance with a different product, because otherwise I liked everything else about the straps.3It's nice but made no difference on my shoulder bagIt's nice but made no difference on my shoulder bag. These shoulder pads saved me!5Comfortable, Better/Cheaper/More-Versatile Than Domke 725-310With respect to testing and using this shoulder pad, I usually carry a Husky 18 Inch Tool Bag w/ Shoulder Strap. It tends to weigh at least 40 pounds.I first tried the Domke 725-310 FA-031 U.S. Post Office Shoulder Pad. I returned it because it did not constrain the strap adequately. In many cases, the strap would slide off the protective cushion and dig into my shoulder, clavicle, or trapezius muscles. That made the shoulder pad less than useless.That doesn't happen with the Japan Hobby Tool shoulder pad. It's wide enough, long enough, and designed well enough to have the strap dig into the air cells and not slide off and dig into your body. To be completely clear about this product though, I do have to thoughtfully place the strap on my shoulder in a certain way to make it work. However, this doesn't require much effort, and the margin for error is large.There's an important final note about this comparative advantage. If you're carrying light loads, the two shoulder pads will probably function about the same. The more weight you're carrying, the more likely it is Domke's shoulder pad will fail to constrain the strap.Finally, this shoulder pad has better aesthetics. It just looks better.5Versatile.Outstanding quality and price, versatile product.5It's a perfectly fine shoulder padIt's a perfectly fine shoulder pad. Comfortable, stays in place, spreads the weight so the strap doesn't cut. Who could ask for anything more from a shoulder pad? OK, it could play "The Happy Wanderer" whenever I shoulder the bag (Val-dera-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha). Lacking that, though, it does it's job very well.5Tough StuffOriginally I purchased this for my new DSL camera, but when I got it found that it is too thick and bulky so now using it on my camera bag, not sure if that will work. I like the construction, the inside has a rubber mat that grips to the strap nicely. Overall I think it will soften with use and I will like it...4
