so the camera better be on a sturdy tripodThis filter works as it is supposed to: more or less 9 stops decrease in exposure. I give it 4, not 5 stars because it can cause strange color patterns on the image, but most photos did not have them. It is dark (gee, what do you expect?), so the camera better be on a sturdy tripod. Best results were obtained by composing the photo, then setting the lens to manual focus so that screwing the filter on will not risk changing the focus, and then shooting. And then checking the shot for correct exposure. Since I used it to get dreamily flowing water, adding 9 stops to my camera's exposure did not always work. I had to manually (or use exposure compensation) tweak the exposure. I did screw it on top of a polarizing filter and (happily) it easily came off again. If you are reading this review I am certain you know this is a limited use item, but it does the job.4Great Filter!I use the ND for photo and video, I have a 6DII and for my purpose work really well, I just use L lenses and the quality of the image do not fall into pieces... Do not cast any heavy colours into the image and it's perfect to film in direct sun lights! If you want to film in shadow area, 6.6 Stops it's too much, you always have to pull up the ISO5It has been recommended by a bunch on the forums for use with ...Pricey, particularly if you need one of the larger sizes, but it seems to work fairly well so far. It has been recommended by a bunch on the forums for use with Blackmagic Cinema cameras' sensor because it cuts a fair amount of the IR light range that tends to overrun a sensor when filtering a large amount of the visible range. This helps keep the blacks in your images from becoming overly brown or red.5great filter for kit lensesThis fit's my nikon and fuji kit lenses . . . . does the job slowing down motion (great for those spring water shots).4ISO 800 / f2.0 /Shutter 1/50 - Perfect 4k 24fps Sunny Day!Just Purchased a Nikon Z6, when using in conjunction Ninja V, Native N-Log ISO is 800, Thus the need for an ND filter. This is the only filter that did not break the wallet nor does it have the X issue Variable filters have. There is a shift in WB towards the cool side, but if you adjust when shooting or post, there shouldn't be a problem. Really love it. Got all new toys including a LAOWA 15mm f2 Zero D lens. ITs a perfect match all around.PS. I got the 82mm and then purchased step up rings for all my lens configurations that were smaller. Its better to do it this way also, just in case there is vignette. this process eliminates it and saves you money.5Such a thick rim, seems really old-fashioned.More modern and of course higher-end filters have MUCH narrower rims, even those that offer threads for stacking. I'd worry about this one on a wide angle lens, like 12mm or less on APSC, for example. And no way it's stackable on a wide angle lens.3Fantastic. This new Hoya line is high qualityFantastic. This new Hoya line is high quality. The build is really solid and will last many years and there's no color cast.If you want to get silky smooth water and/or lot's of movement in clouds, even in bright daylight, this is the filter you need.5If you need it, get it.I needed another 5-stop ND filter for my Canon 85mm f/1.2 II. Needed it so I could use strobe in mid-day sunlight. Hoya is always a great choice to maintain quality and integrity in the shot. Worked better than it should for the price. Nice job, Hoya!5Perfect for Nikon 200mm f/2.0 VR1I bought this filter for a Nikon 200mm f/2.0 VR1. Anyone familiar with that lens knows that it uses a rear filter holder slot, and not all filters will fit (they cant be too thick or they wont slide in). This filter fits great. I ordered both the 64x and 16x. The 64x is great for cutting just enough mid-day light to overpower the sun by about 1 stop with strobes if you're using ISO 100 and 1/250th at f/2.0. The 16x is great for a very balances look or overcast days where you dont need to cut as much light.5Well made and should work greatHaven't used them yet, but the fit and finish is very good. I'm certain this will work perfectly.5
