Just tap it in the trash can. 5Saves garbage disposals from breaking.Prevents large items like food I am rinsing, or spoons, or broken glass, from falling into the garbage disposal. Yet this strainer allows water to freely enter. Other strainer designs limit the water flow.However, little bits of food do get stuck in the small mesh.I put the strainer in the dishwasher regularly but even so, it doesn't come out as clean as I would like. But it is clean enough and it totally works for my purpose.I already broke one garbage disposal when some small metal thing fell in without my realizing it. And another time a Corelle bowl broke in sink, and I spent 20 minutes fishing out the sharp shards. And we've all had spoons fall in unseen.5Fits wellIt fits nicely & it doesnt have sharp edges & seems durable. It is so much easier and more convenient than switching strainers. Also, I've been using this strainer since March. It still looks and works like it did on day one. It is well made with strong rim and tight mesh that captures food debris, but is easy a quick to clean. It is a tad large for the opening supplied by the disposal, but I'm happier that it is a little big versus a little small. The mat I use holds it in place, but even when it slips, it still completely covers the sink hole. I would order it again. I am not being credited in any way for this review, but I really did purchase it through Amazon Prime!!!5Good strainerDoes what I need it to do, cleans easily, and keeps the gunk out of my pipes and septic! Fit my sink perfectly and gives me peace of mind that nothing will slip down the drain that shouldn't be going into it. The mesh isn't ultra-fine, but is a fine mesh that catches most.5
