works 50% of the time.. and it does not look like the ones on image.Received a different cable than the image. I ordered a 50ft extension and it comes as another type of extension. I have a security DVR setup in another room which I use this cable to extend my mouse, it only works half of the time since I have to unplug and reinsert the USB extension cable in order to make it work properly. Sometimes it will loose connection which I'll have to unplug and plug it back in again at DVR end which is annoying. 150 Feet of Garbage does not work after three usesThe cable was used at a church, so used twice (two Sundays). We got one extra use out use out of it for a total of three. Now it's totally dead, won't even allow the computer to boot when connected. And of course we can't return it now the time has expired. Great money down the drain.Will update if things change. 1Highly Recommended - Works GreatI was a little worried about buying this because I wasn't sure it would work very well because of the long distance. I want to confirm that, for my purposes, it is absolutely fantastic. I ran the cable up through my walls, into the attic, and down to a remote location from my desktop. I was able to attach a optionally powered USB hub and devices worked OK, even unpowered.I ran into some issues because I had a wireless mouse with a charging station plugged into the unpowered hub, so I plugged it in and everything was great. I figured this would be the case, which is why I bought the powered USB hub.I'm going to be buying another one to run from my media center to our living room. Absolutely fantastic.EDIT: I wanted to add that I bought two more of these to run the full fifty feet from my office to the great room. Both are hooked to 4-port powered hubs and work fantastically. One is hooked up to the HTPC and the other to my Xbox One and everything connected was recognized without issue. 5Actually works at 50 ft !50ft is a LONG way for a USB cable. But, this cable works just fine without any problems. There is a little USB repeater it the middle of the cable that make USB work at 50 feet.We bought these cables in order to mount a USB camera on the large TV monitors in our conference rooms. I bought another in September and it has already gone bad and I am returning the item for a refund. It was a complete waste of money. 1Connect the male end to power hub for a neat transmission lineI wanted to place an SDR at the antenna far away from noise and just run the data back to my computer. The SDRhas a 60 foot long antenna wire running into a 9:1 balun in the garden and into the female end of the line. At the male end I run into a powered hub and then into an old Galaxy Tab running SDR Touch. I was running a 50 ohm coax line from the antenna but all my efforts picked up noise from the house. So far so good!K3GK 4Not good enough to power my webcam reliably at 50ft. YMMV.I got this to replace another long powered USB cable of similar length, that had failed after being in use a long time. This one wouldn't run a webcam without a powered USB hub at both ends as well as the in-line electronics, where the other one only needed the hub at one end. If your device uses more power than 250mA, this cable isn't going to work for you without some kind of power supply added to the end of the chain.There's a couple of technical limitations and factors that need to be considered in regards to this item. This is a USB 2.0 cable; the 2.0 USB specification has a limit of 5 meters (a little over 16 ft.), this means that right from the start, this cable exceeds the length defined in the USB 2.0 standards. This cable does reliably transmit signal over 25 ft, despite the limitation of the standard.The next thing we need to consider is that an active repeater is extending the signal, but you're still going to experience some degree of loss due to the length of the cable, because of factors like attenuation (reduction of signal strength over distance) and electromagnetic interference (EMI). This applies to other types of cable (Cat5, Cat6, Coaxial). You can eliminate EMI to some extent by attaching a ferrite bead to each end of the cable. The use of ferrite beads can significantly increase the reliability of things like web cameras and security cameras, as EMI interference on such a long cable is going to be one of the primary factors that interferes with quality. Electromagnetic interference comes from a wide variety of sources, but one of the most common sources is from running your USB cable alongside electrical wiring. As you can imagine, this makes for a few difficulties in connecting USB devices. This active extension cable worked perfectly with standalone, low power devices like my mouse or keyboard, but its potential was ultimately realized with the AmazonBasics 7 port Powered USB 2.0 hub. Everything I've plugged in has been recognized and worked flawlessly with the extra power from the hub, and this active cable sending it all over the long distance to my computer. Great price and works as it should. 5Reliable, with a powered-hub at the far endSeems to work well for me as long as I use a powered-hub with it. I have placed a powered-hub on each end to ensure stability with the power and signals. So far I haven't seen any issues. Without the hub on the far end I do not get a reliable signal for a simple USB keyboard. I have seen this with other cables once you get past 30', so I expected this and I accepted this. One could argue that this should be noted and perhaps even built-in to these cables.I have not tested data performance at this distance because I typically don't place a drive on a cable run of this length - I just use my ThinkPad USB Keyboard and phone devices. 5
