Broke within a weekI ordered these to use for a project in my electronics class and within a week all the receivers stopped working. Literally, ALL the receivers stopped working, but the emitters were fine. I only used them in class and no body else had access to them. The professor and teaching assistant were shocked because they had been working the week before and tested them for over an hour. Two days before the project was due I had to make a new game plan. Absolutely ridiculous. 1Line trackerThey worked very well for our line trackers. 5Receivers don't work.Most of the emitters worked, seemingly none of the receivers work. Ended up having to get receivers elsewhere. 1These are a very versatile product, probably more than you know.These were perfect. I got my counter top ice maker repaired in about an hour. Thanks for offering such a great and versatile product. 5Nice starter kitI bought these to learn about infrared communication and how devices like infrared remotes send data. The receiver was nice to be able to record signals and view them to learn how they work, and then the LEDs were great for replicating the signals to try and control the devices myself. This is a nice starter kit if you want to learn about infrared communication.My only issue is that the distance on these things isn't very good. I can't seem to get the 7-8 meters advertised out of these things reliably. They're really nice for close-range communication and data transfer, which is probably what I'll end up using them for, but not very good for remote controlling things at a distance. 4I needed these for a project I was going to ...I needed these for a project I was going to do with my raspberry pi, but I didn't realize they weren't three-legged. I guess that one is kind of on me, but they still worked as intended for the project. The LED emitter has a decent amount of range too, depending on the resistor used, or at least that is what I found in my experience with it. 4Receiver isn't a diode it is a transistorThe receiver is a NPN phototransistor with the short lead or one with the flat on the plastic as the collector. It is not a diode and certainly not a PIN diode. The other lead is the emitter. You will need a resistor to Vcc for the device to work. Search 'using an IR phototransistor' for more information. One star off for bad product description. One star up for good seller response. The IR LED is as promised. 4Emitter testAnyone know how to view the light to test the IR is transmitting? I saw you can use your mobile phone camera but I cant see the light on any of the bulbs. my IR project is not working and I cant rule out the emitters yet. 5IR loving it!And soon all the devices were communicating on levels the human couldn't even see.(Does what I expected. Having fun with mischief.) 4Great for short IR beam sensors!For small distances, this product worked perfectly. I'm adding electronics to my cornhole board so that I can illuminate it at night. By making a circuit with these LEDs, a few 555 timers, and some 12 volt LED strip lights, I could monitor whether or not a player scored, and then flash my lights accordingly.For the emitter, I'm using 5V with 220 ohms resistance. The receiver also has a 5V power supply and a 5K pulldown resistor. This gives me a range of around 7.5-8 inches, perfect for a 6 inch diameter hole. Note that the voltage given by the receiver is under 2V when the emitter is too far away. For projects needing longer distance, a 5mW laser and 100K LDR would probably work better, but for a little more cost.Also, the long leg on the emitter is the anode, while the long leg on the receiver is the cathode. A little strange, but the products work, so I'm not too judgmental. Highly recommended for small projects like my own. 5
