Good choice for a senior citizen.I bought this for my elderly mother-in-law, who has trouble navigating with the small-button, complicated standard cable remote. The buttons are much larger than on a typical cable remote, and since all she needs is to be able to access a half-dozen channels in the facility where she lives, this remote does the job nicely. Numeric buttons are big and have good tactile feel; the rocker buttons for volume and channel up/down also have a positive feel. She uses the last-channel feature frequently for switching back and forth between two channels, and this remote has that feature as well.5I should have done it the recommended way in the first placeThe instructions mentioned that the "recommended" method of programming was to manually enter each code listed for your brand. Mine had about 10, why would I do that?! Well I did the faster way and let it detect on its own. TV turns on, volume works but my sleep timer didn't, which was the main reason I chose this remote. Upon further investigation it needed a different code than what was auto detected, causing some features not to work. Ok, ok, I should have done it the recommended way in the first place. Once I found the correct code, it works like a charm!5Works--- but with an IssueBought this for my very elderly grandmother. the frontier remote has 1000 teeny tiny buttons and she could not manage it. tore it out of the box and programmed it (make sure you have 2 double A's - since they are not provided) relatively easy. print is super small on the paper but there are a lot of codes . Only issue we had it that you have to select the device in order to power everything on and then select the cbl box in order to change channels. seems like a simple issues for those of us used to technology but when dealing with folks born before WW2 the need to switch back and forth is tough to manage. a nice feature is that you can enable universal volume so that even when CBL is selected, the TV volume will be adjusted with the control. ONLY IF THE CBL DEVICE IS ACTIVE!!! I get it, you probably get it but my grandma is struggling. Just FYI - device works good, easily programmed and the big buttons are a help. just wish we could somehow make it work easier for her.4Great device - instructions not user friendly but AWESOME customer support?Ok - its taken some time for me to post this review because its taken awhile for me to get used to how to operate as a sporadic tv/cable viewer = a slower learning curve/experience! The customer support team are excellent - Marcus was very patient and polite and for this reason I recommend this device especially if like me one struggles with small digits and no back lit function.4Super easy to use once it is set upLove this. The first thing said to hold "setup" button until red light comes on. That would be fine...except there is no red light. I held down the "setup" button for a full minute, looking for a red light to come on someplace...nothing. I looked at the page in the instruction booklet that has all the buttons...no red light. I then called customer service for assistance. They are open until 8PM CT. I called at 6:03PM CT. The phone rang about 15 times, then switched to a busy signal. I redialed and got the same thing. Life's too short to deal with crappy products like this...I already put in for my refund and will drop it off at UPS tomorrow.1No back button for Samsung 4KHD tv!No back button for Samsung 4KHD tv! The remote itself was cool with the backlit display and the finish but there s no back button for the tv! I constantly have to exit the app to be able to start over. I painstakingly tried every kind of setup in the user manual without success. Some of the codes worked partially, but the volume control triggered the On Demand menu. Next step, I went to the product support web page. There is supposed to be a code list version sticker inside the remote, underneath the batteries. My remote had no such code list. So, I called technical support. After a short wait, the support person gave me a new code that was discovered after the manual was printed. It had the same problem as all the setups I tried before the volume control triggered the Comcast On Demand menu. The support representative said that apparently the TV and the cable box use the same code. He suggested getting a different cable box, which is not an option for me. Fortunately, the return process was easy. I was able to reuse the original mailing envelope. Two hours of my life down the drain. By the way, I thought I was buying a GE product, but Jasco is a GE licensee.1
