Customer Reviews

Excellent Siamese Cable for indoor CCTVThis was the best priced Siamese cable I found for indoor CCTV cameras (this cable is not for outdoor or buried use). Excellent quality as compared to other brands I priced with the same gauge wires and shielding. I've installed 5 cameras indoors so far with 4 more to go. Excellent picture and no problems at all. I've been using compression BNC plugs on the video portion. It is now 6 months later and I installed a total of 9 indoor cameras with this cable. All are working excellent with no problems. For my Pan Tilt Zoom I used the two power wires as signal wires to the camera to control the motion and ran a separate power pair to the camera using the camera's supplied power supply.Remember ... this cable is not for outdoor use. 5Best Cable AroundFive Star Cable makes quality products that last. I have been a repeat buyer of their cable and find it to be superior to all other cables. The cable stands up well to the harsh New England weather. I would definitely recommend this cable. 5Ships fast great productGreat quality product. I used to install satellite and was just as good as any other coax I've ever used plus an extra elect. Wire. I would recommend for for any person that does multi projects because u can use for sat. ,cams. Good to have on hand I have had several uses for my box and still have plenty left. 4This is not copper signal does not pass. Max ...This is not copper signal does not pass. Max distance CVI/TVI 180 feet-- AHD 58% signal This cable was test with a pro tester, please see my pictures. in a moisture environment wont last 2 years before you damage your cameras and star all over.buy at your own risk..... 1Works Perfectly and here to clear up thr crap reviews.Ive ordered this cable in bulk.Installed undergroundInstalled in extremely hot places(2 yeara no complaints)You CAN pull the power wire seperateStrips just fine( Although i just use a blade)95% copper( What you expect for a $61 box of 500ft coax!?)Does the job and runs over 300ft work just fine.Conductor is excellent with resistances.Cheap price, quality product. 5Fits the bill, avoiding shortcutsThis cable has everything I want in video surveillance cable: it is slick and easy to pull without lubricant, but remains flexible and robust without kinking easily. It is pure copper; some other cables are copper clad aluminum. Also, the power cable is 18AWG, which is good for power transmission up to 2 amps (for this reason, I suggest using this for all your CCTV runs, even if you have some free (probably 22 AWG - good for up to 0.92 amp) cables that came with your security package - this will allow you to be uniform and ready for any potential upgrades. (If you really want to be ready for the future, run some Cat6 at the same time, which you can use for PTZ, audio, and upgrades to IP cameras). BTW, the free cables that come with the packages share the ground conductor, which can make installation messier and annoy you if you are a perfectionist. It pulls apart easily, but only when you need it to. The cable is marked by the foot and the box has a place to write how much is left. It was also easy to connectorize with the RG-59 BNC compression connectors I bought here on Amazon. My only install tip is when you cut the end with your coax tool, ensure that the stranded ground cable (outside the dielectric) remains to make a ground with the connector, but that none of the strands remain long enough that they can come in contact with the 20AWG signal conductor when connectorizing. 5The cable is great as it has power and video connectionsThe cable is great as it has power and video connections. My one complaint is that I've only found one video compression connector that fits the cable is the Snap-N-Seal FS59BNCU which costs about $5.00 to install one on each end of one cable. I purchased others but have not found a connector that will be dependable and easily installed to use this cable commercially. 4Siamese security camera wire at an affordable priceI purchased this wire for a camera job in a store. The wire pulled easy from the box, footage markers were easy to read. The power and coax separated easily. As a security professional and a licensed electrician I would purchase again and recommend to a friend. 5I have seen virtually every type of cable out there and though this is a better version of Copper Clad Siamese CableThe two boxes I purchased a few weeks ago were recently used on a job that had some longer runs of about 200FT. Saw some signal problems and decided to look over the cable. It was then that I took a knife and scraped along the center conductor which revealed that this cable is definitely Copper Clad. I own a Security Company and we do a lot of Camera Installs. I have seen virtually every type of cable out there and though this is a better version of Copper Clad Siamese Cable, it definitely is not what anyone who does this for a living would prefer using. For those of you who don't know how to check this for yourself, cut back a couple inches of the dielectric foam (the white insulating material covering the center Conductor) from the center conductor itself. Then simply and carefully (watch your fingers) use a knife or similar edged instrument and gently scrap along the Center Conductor. You will see the sprayed copper come off exposing a shiny tin/metal looking conductor. On the contrary, if the conductor remains copper colored (as it appears on the surface) after scraping down into it then you have solid copper wire. Just as I do with Cat5 and Cat6 cable, I only use Coax Cable that has a "Solid Core Copper" (Pure Copper) center conductor. The description clearly says that it is. It is not. Using this type of cable for patch cables for HDTV applications is certainly not advisable. And, if you are an installer of Analog (AHD, TVI, etc) 1080P HD CCTV Camera applications, this cable will only go about 100-125ft before you are opening up yourself to experience problems. I will attempt to contact the seller and advise them and/or Amazon themselves. Also, FYI, the stranded 18/2 is copper clad Tin. I knew that part of the cable was going to come that way which, of course, would be consistent with the price. If the 18/2 was pure copper stranded wire that would, on average, add $60 to $100 to the cost of this cable. 3Good cable for cameras without breaking the bank. But the power wires are CCA.The RG59 coax:Solid Copper (I checked. :3)Nice looking braid. No signal loss over the longest (100 ft) run I did so far.The power wires:They do appear to be CCA (Copper Clad Aluminum). This was expected from some other reviews I read and the price... but I feel it should be stated in the listing clearly. One star off for unclear listing about the CCA power wires. That said, I'm not disappointed with the performance of the power wire. It works better than the pre-made cables I replaced, for sure. No problems powering a camera 100 feet away certainly. (The cameras I installed using this wire were 12 Volts DC.) In our area, there's no issue with CCA wiring, and I don't know of an area where it is an issue for low voltage applications. However be sure to check for your area before buying and using on a job.Overall, pleased with the performance and quality for the price. No issues. 4
