Customer Reviews

I love this surge protector I love this surge protector. I never thought those words would come out of my mouth. The cord is really long and there are like 8 plugs on it. I have practically my entire living room using this. We have had one surge since I purchased this and it fried one of my other older protectors but this one took it like a champ. 5Great for tight spaces, with subtle design flaws This is a great power strip, and I recommend it without hesitation. I'm using it in tight corner space that's partly under a couch, and it's working well. Updating two things would make it perfect:1) The right-angle power plug is surprisingly thick, almost a half inch off the wall. Fine if it's really a full 15 amp plug, but other top brands stay flatter to the wall.2) The front-facing outlets are too close together by a hair. I cannot put three standard computer power cords into that face; the center outlet has to be left unused. 4This is one awesome surge protector! This is one awesome surge protector! Shape may look unusual, yet that unique shape allows for full use of the power outlets. Since most new powered devices use transformers, a straight-line surge strip is such a waste. If you have current multiple devices, that use AC to DC transformers, this is the surge protector for you. Price is competitive with other surge protectors, but whith much higher build quality and protection. Standard surge reset, with added fused surge protection for a major hit - the protector dies, but your prized electronics should survive. Also, there's a separate light for power on and an added light to indicate polarity is correct and surge protection is active. U.S. based customer support is great. 5Very good product I bought this for several reasons, and it succeeds on all counts.First, I need a flat plug since this is behind our bed. I have a sideways/flat plug for my wife's surge protector, and this one goes straight down. So both fit nicely and the bed can be (almost) flush against the wall.Next, I wanted good spacing on the plugs to accommodate wall warts. I have my cell phone charger next to the bed, and sometimes plug in other stuff. Most of the plugs on this device are sufficiently separated that device plugs don't interfere with each other. Finally, I wanted something with a moderately short cord. Six feet is not short, but most of the flat-plug surge protectors I found had longer cords. This needs to go a whopping one foot, so the less slack the better. You will be hard pressed to find a shorter cord than six feet without going into the realm of "I would be scared to plug in anything more expensive than an alarm clock" surge protectors. If I find myself needing another surge protector, I would strongly consider purchasing another one of these. 5Reasonbly priced, safe surge protecter that holds up to 8 plugs nice, very compact, surge protector. Reasonbly priced!! Mine holds 8 plugs for small appliancesaround my aquariums- aquarium heaters, a tank pump, tank ornamental lights etc. (All are not working at the same time.) But they do fit nicely into the surge protecter and operate as needed. I've had no issues with over heating etc. The surge protector efficiently "harnesses" the electricity from my outlet. I'd imagine that it would also work efficiently with larger appliances as well- a computer, television etc. Nice little switch that enables you to turn the unit on and off- in other words- u can shut off all electricity at the protecter if desired- and then turn it back on with the "flip off a switch" Probably the two main advantages of this surge protector- besides it's efficiency- is that its quite compact- perhaps not much larger the a hand- (size large) and the fact that it holds eight plugs. u should probably consider that plugs have different sized "heads" and take up different amounts of space. The prong outlets on this unit are sort of compact as well. So consider the size of your "prong heads" when deciding if all eight will fit onto the unit. 5Looks odd, but for good reason The power supplies for electronic devices, a.k.a. wall warts , come in a huge variety of shapes, sizes and angles. The odd shape of this gang plug helps keep the various power supplies you plug into it from conflicting with each other. Similarly, this thing's right-angle plug also reduces conflict at the wall outlet between it and nearby furniture. However, there is one bit of conflict left in the design: one of the outlets it positioned right next to the surge-reset switch, so that if you plug in some sorts of power-supplies into that outlet, you can hit that switch and turn off the power. (Hint to the engineer: use a recessed the rocker switch, or put ridges on either side of it.)This thing seems rather heavy when you first pick it up, but that turns out to be a feature, especially if you're plugging things in and taking them back out on a regular basis the extra weight helps keep it in place. (Possible improvement: add a few silicone feet to make it even more stable.) 4Surge plug I've been looking for Never thought I'd be writing a review for a surge protector. This one is very well thought out. Good with spacing for the adapters that are shaped like blocks that would cover up other ports on your standard slim protector. If it's not obvious, do your homework on how many plugs you need, as for my set up it works perfectly without any plugs covering up another socket because of its size (that's what she said) 5Great design -- yes, even for a power strip This is how power strips should be designed this century. It eliminates almost all worry of big wall-warts occupying 2 or even 3 spots on a typical power strip. It's still ugly once everything is plugged in, but I don't know anyone that leaves their power strip out for show. It's very functional, allows you to utilize all plugs (assuming you have at least 3 non-warts), and provides surge protection. I was able to replace 2 strips with this one because there was no longer plug overlap (and I have an extra!). Because if its utility, I think it's a better buy than cheaper straight-6 models. Additionally, something to keep in mind with really cheap power strips is they may not actually be providing surge protection, only extra plugs. Read the label carefully. Finally, because the plug into the wall is at a 90 degree angle, it fits behind furniture much better. This power strip really was "designed", not just slapped together to make a buck. 5Are your Electronics Protected? We recently experienced alternating power surges and sags due to a failed utility line to our home. We lost several appliances and other items due to the voltage issues. Thankfully, the utility covered most of our $4000 loss since it was their equipment that caused the issue. However, our computer and HDTV equipment was protected by surge suppressors which "gave up their lives" to the surges, but protected the electronic items as you would hope! I bought several replacement protectors including this Fellowes unit which is performing silently in the background until its needed again (never I hope). If your equipment is not protected, BEWARE! 5Saved my computer and phone during an unexpected power surge due to "partial" power outage Bought this years ago--never so grateful as this week!A tree fell and only partially disconnected the power source from the house--I've learned this is much worse than when you just get unlucky enough to be left in the dark during a storm.Since only part of the main line was disconnected, that meant repeated dangerous power surges that blew out multiple light bulbs as well as minor and major appliances--likely in the thousands of dollars of damage all told.It also caused burns/melts/minor fires to several of our surge protectors throughout the house. My computer and phone were plugged in to this surge protector--and IT DID THE JOB IT WAS MEANT TO DO!I am so, so grateful! This surge protector no longer works (no surprise)--but it completely protected my sensitive and impossible-to-replace items which were plugged in to it. 5
