Customer Reviews

Just really isn't made right, and shipping is really badAfter reading other reviews that weren't very good, I decided to go ahead and take a chance. I was apprehensive about that chance when my order 1st arrived.there was broken glass from one of the covers and missing light bulbs. I went ahead and ordered a replacement, determined to make these lights work in my vanity. It was easy to see why there were so many complaints about the amount of light put out. The fixture simply needed to be mounted upside down. This did require securing the glass covers, which slide in and are not secured in a reverse mounting. That was easy enough to do. I added a small bead of clear silicone along the edges of the metal where the glass slides in. The bulbs do tend to get hot, which leaves a concern over the bulb falling out over time due to the plastic base and mogul. This will have to be seen over time.Reversing the mount was ideal for the light to be directed downward towards the mirror and not up towards the ceiling. It also allows some light to be directed upward thought the metal grate leaving an interesting pattern on the ceiling and wall above the fixture. This is much better than having the pattern directed on the mirror and subsequently on my face while fixing hair or shaving, when light is at a premium.Unless you want to try modifying this fixture as I did, I would not recommend placing it over a vanity. It might make for nice ambient lighting in a bedroom though. 3Better than representedThis fixture looks even nicer than its online representation. Delivery was fast and packaging was appropriate (as opposed to massive overkill, hard to responsibly recycle). I have this fixture in my newly remodeled bathroom on a dimmer - it looks lovely and functions as expected. 5Cheap & chintsy -- too expensiveWhat the pictures don't show is this has metal grating across the bottom and that's the angle you see it at -- you don't look straight at a bathroom fixture. Definitely ruins the sleek look. Overall the fixture is much smaller & cheaper looking than I expected and to make matters worse, I just saw this exact fixture or its twin for half the price (not sure but it looked identical) at Home Depot. I would definitely not recommend. If my electrician hadn't discarded the box I'd return it. 2Glass shade broke, replacement does not appear availableThe compliments: The fixture is attractive. It installed easily with just a Phillips screwdriver and a level. Bathrooms frequently look stark, but the light from this fixture makes it look quite inviting. The brushed metal covers fingerprints well. The caveat: The light bulbs get quite hot. This isn't an energy efficient fixture. I like it well enough, though, that when a bulb blows I might re-wire with LEDs. Additional issue with bulbs that get quite hot is that they can leave dark marks on the ceiling--not quite scorch marks but you get the idea. The problem: One of the three glass shades fit rather tightly into the slot for the fixture. Twelve hours after I'd installed the fixture, the tight-fitting shade broke and shattered on the bathroom floor. Thank goodness nobody was in there! I sure wish there were a clear way to request a replacement glass shade, but I don't see a means to do that on this site--HINT HINT! If I hear from somebody, I'll happily come back and revise my rating. :D 1Good looking design, user-unfriendly installationThe Eurofase six-light bathbar looks handsome on our bathroom wall above a 48-inch vanity. To install this light easily, I recommend the following:(1) an outlet box with machine screw holes oriented horizontally at 9 and 3 and installed precisely level -- if, like me, your outlet box has screw holes in a slightly different orientation you will need to drill new holes through the metal hexagonal mounting plate (or alternatively, install anchors in your drywall, but these must be so close to the outlet box that the solution is likely impractical due to the insubstantial nature of drywall);(2) duct tape placed over the heads of the long machine screws on the mounting plate that face outward from the wall -- without it the long screws will easily disappear into your outlet box or wall when you try to attach the face plate;(3) similar duct tape plus a magnet to pull out the too-short machine screws that face outward from the back plate -- they extend only 1/8 inch or less, making it remarkably difficult to get the installation nuts threaded; if the machine screws were manufactured another 1/8 inch longer less effort would be needed;(4) a supply of band-aids -- I never imagined getting cuts from a light, but the back plate on the six-light Eurofase bathbar is sharp enough to slice hands placing the face plate over it, and I got a long, deep cut on both hands;(5) a helper with gloves to hold the face plate while you mount it -- this reduces the chances of getting cuts while installing nuts.My wife, who is picky about design, thinks the Eurofase six-light bathbar looks like it's worth every cent it costs. In addition, I'm sure after you've installed a few they're a piece of cake. Hopefully the recommendations above may save someone a little frustration.A couple of addenda:(a) On the Eurofase item I purchased the glass shades are held by spring-loaded clips; there is no 'rest' that the bottom of the shades rest against, so it makes no difference whether the light is installed up or down. Certainly no extra adhesive is needed on account of orientation.(b) The light comes with halogen G-9 bulbs. These are energy hogs, so I ordered LED G-9 bulbs to substitute, and I'm quite pleased with the result. 3Good looking, modern lights, but...Great looking light set, the only thing I don't like is the silver plate that you can see peaking through from behind the light. 4Pretty, but not practical, and poorly packaged for shipmentThis fixture is attractive, but from a functional standpoint is poorly designed, and the packaging for shipment is poor. The first one arrived with one of the glass covers broken. Amazon (with its excellent customer service) promptly sent a replacement. Only after the light was installed did I notice that it throws its light upward and outward, but not downward like you would expect from a bathroom vanity light. The bottom of the fixture has semicircular metal pieces with very small holes (pinholes almost) that sit under the bulbs and block the light from projecting downward. Because of the way the glass shades fit in the fixture, it is not reversible (they would fall out if installed in reverse). The result is that a light over the mirror does a very poor job of illuminating your face (which seems to be the whole point of having a light over the mirror). I would not recommend this fixture. 2Poor illuminationI'll say it upfront, I should have checked the bulb type for this light, but I just assumed that most lights allow for CFLs, and was extremely disappointed to discover this was halogen. Big energy drain. Even more disappointing, contrary to your typical halogen light, this provided hardly any illumination. I used the maximum allowable bulb on this and it still barely cranked out any light. Very disappointed, especially for the price. Reinstalled the cheapo CFL vanity that was there before so I can actually see. We even had a big window in the bathroom and this just didn't cut it. Aesthetically, of course, I think it's a beautiful light. Just don't understand why it wasn't engineered to have standard bulbs. At the end of day, even though it was my fault that I didn't double check the bulb type, I kept gave the halogens a shot for almost 10 months and in the end just didn't like the poor illumination. 2The only positive things were the look was great and price would have been great if the fixture ...this light fixture failed completely...three years after installation .... the bulb connections corroded!A bathroom fixture should not corrode. The only positive things were the look was great and price would have been great if the fixture lasted longer than three years.I had to replace the fixture. 1Beautiful Light.I am renovating my bathroom and I needed to get a new vanity light, so when I came across this one I was a little worried because there were no reviews. But I loved it and so of course I had to purchase it. I must say I was VERY happy with it. It is a little on the small side, but my bathroom is small so it looks great! I got the 3 light with the satin nickel finish. I think it was worth the price. I have not seen anything like this light at a local store. Please be sure to check out the pictures I posted for this light. It will give you a better idea of what it looks like. Hope that helps! 5
