Customer Reviews

junkCoolest RGB fans I have found on the market. Super bright, Vivid halo that stands out better than any other LED fan I've seen on the market.Control box comes with remote. The remote never works. Tried 3 different control boxes and controllers and none of them worked. After one month the "twister bearings" go bad and at max speed it sounds like there is a blender in your tower. Also no MB fan or RGB controlAlso ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICEDO NOT BUY1Alright but do not really have removable blades.I bought this six pack of fans for a new build. Here is my experience.Even though the RGB function can be controlled by the motherboard you have to hook up the IR receiver for the remote to control the fan speed. Out of the box they run at a very slow speed and don't move much air.I also experienced a problem where motherboard control was half as bright as when I used the remote and took manual control of the lights. Not sure if that was the kit or my motherboard though. The real problem is the quality and cleaning of the fans. The fans ran fine for about a month, but at the 1 month mark I noticed that one of the fans had a wobble and would make noise. Taping the case would resolve the problem for about an hour then the noise was back. It wasn't loud, but was annoying. After 2 months several of the fans were making noise. I decided maybe cleaning the dust off of the fans might resolve some of the wobble and quiet the fans. I tried to detach the blades to clean. There are no instructions for this, just a graphic showing the blades being pushed out of the housing. Pushing the blade out does detach them, but it does so by breaking a small clip that normally would hold the blade in. After breaking a segment off of 1 of the 3 blades I was trying to clean I stopped and just cleaned and put back in place the 2 that were intact. The magnet on the motor seems to hold the blade in. After restarting my PC (missing 1 blade at this time) the fans functioned but they wobbled worse than before. Lots of noise. I suspect that small clip actually kept the shaft in place in the motor. Without it the wobble got worse. At the 3 month mark (still minus a fan) I was putting a box down on my desk, and the vibration of dropping the box must have caused the computer to move. I heard a crashing noise from the case and see fan parts laying on the bottom of the case. The vibration of dropping the box on the desk had caused one of the fans on the top to slip past the magnet holding it in, turning the blade into a plastic throwing star moving at speed around the inside of my case. Not only did that blade lose an element as it went crashing down it broke an element off of another blade and scratched the inside of the window.I reached out to Emermax and they quickly replaces the now 3 blades that were damaged. Those work, but again without the clips they wobble and I am just waiting for one of the upper fans to go all ninja and take out other components. So I can't say for sure if the blades are really intended to be removed. Maybe there is some super secret way to do that without breaking those small clips. Regardless for me these are just not worth the hassle. I have ordered replacement fans from another vendor.2these fans look amazing, but sound horrible! DO NOT BUYREAD HERE FIRST: Just one last update. DON'T BUY THESE... .Almost all the fans are now making noise again and oiling did nothing. Also at low speed on start up some of the fans won't even spin. Very disappointed in the short life of these fans. Too bad because they are one of the better looking RGB options out there. Think I'm going to try the Lian Li Bora Lites or the Cooler Master Master Fans. Hopefully will work out better.Wow, these fans look amazing. Very nice RGB rings that are a little different from everything else out there. I do have one complaint, but to some it may actually be a good thing. You HAVE to use the included fan hub and the connectors on the fans are specific to the hub. In other words, they are not 4 pin or 3 pin header plugs. If you're more worried about cable management then being able to control fans through the motherboard, then its perfect with just one wire per fan. I don't like that I have to used the remote to control the fan speed. Otherwise, everything about these fans are great. Using them on a 360 and 240mm radiator and so far so good. Included a picture of them on my test bed. They look amazing!Update 10/05/18: 2 of the 6 fans have started to rattle. Contacted Enermax, but they weren't any help. I still love the fans, but with less than a year out of them at this price point, I have to take at least 1 star away. Might have to try something else out.Update 12/07/19: Enermax finally ended up sending me 2 replacement fans last year. I replaced the 2 loudest fans and sent them back to Enermax. Since then 2 more fans have started to rattle. I removed the fan blades and oiled the shaft to hopefully get rid of the noise. All but 1 fan at this point seem to be good, but that one fan is just horrible and can not go past the first RPM setting with out making a racket. I would not buy these fans again and if it wasn't a real PITA I would have already replaced all 6 with something different. I do plan at some point going with different fans that will hopefully last longer and be a lot more quiet.2The worst fan control system I have ever seenOk first of all I REALLY like the appearance and build quality of the fans. They look amazing an I was wrestling with myself about returning them because I wanted to keep them sooo badly. But...THERE ARE MAJOR DESIGN FLAWS with this fans. First of all, the fan connection. WTF enermax? Seriously? No normal fan connection to control the fans with the MB or a fan controller. Even if you can control them with the provided fan hub is a serious limitation. What if the hub stops working? You can no longer use the fans. Also you can't control the RGBs without the hub. Because of the design you cannot connect the fans to the MB RGB or fan control and that is to me a deal breaker. But the biggest issue that I have is that for some reason the controller does not control anything without opening the side panel window of my case and putting the controller as close as possible to the sensor. So...no no no enermax I dont like the design. The fans are WoW and the build quality of the fans is top notch but please enermax change the design and the way you control the fans. I will return this fans because I won't use them at all.2Welp, there went that.So the receiver actually stopped working like 2 days after installing. I figured the battery in remote was low, I procrastinated and just recently got a new battery in it, and turns out it's not the battery. The whole thing just doesn't respond to the remote at all. What made me finally replace the battery is 2 of the fans started rattling recently and I wanted to adj speed to see if that would quiet them down.It wouldn't bother me if they were like 20 bucks, I feel like they might be worth $20. But at this price, this is total bs. Your average everyday typical over priced bs.1Beautiful Product; Questionable DurabilityI purchased this product approximately six months ago when I was building a gaming PC for my home office. To see the reason for the 2 star rating overall, please see the bottom of the review.PROS:- The product looks and feels well made- Easy-to-use RGB fan controller- Easy to install- Quiet if not defective- Very interesting 3D-looking effect from the RGB triple ringThese pros weigh heavily into why I would purchase this product again if I were searching to build another good looking chassis. *BUT after 5 months, I have had two issues with these fans becoming incredibly loud while in operation. I keep the chassis very clean and free of dust, and the components in the PC are kept cool and constantly monitored. I removed the fan and cleaned it, which fixed the loud noise issue for a couple of weeks. The loud noise returned, and I had to replace the fan with another fan I had in storage.I have read a lot of reviews of these fans being delivered faulty, or becoming defective shortly after being purchased. Overall, the product is fantastic for performance and being quiet as long as it doesn't become defective early in its life. I don't really like to gamble with my PC parts possibly failing early in their life cycle, so I will replace with more reliable parts.2Definitely worksThese fans are quirky. You need to know what you're getting into.Firstly, they are reasonably good build quality. They don't feel cheap, the LEDs are consistent and the cable quality is OK.However, I have some gripes about these:1. The fan connection is proprietary and probably won't work without the controller. The astute among us would figure out the pinout and make a connector. But usually people want 'out of the box' compatibility.2. The fan frame isn't super rigid, it's semi-flexible. The foam pads are cheaply glued on3. The latch on the connection to the fan hub is a little wonky, it takes a little force to get it out4. The fan hub seems to freeze up somehow. After changing many settings at once it seems to 'freeze up' and takes a while to become responsive again. A power cycle fixes it. I'm guessing it's a firmware issue.5. The fan hub has 10 spaces on it. I wish they made it smaller so I could fit in my case better.6. An extra few inches on the cable length for the fans would also be nice.7. The IR LED component has a clear warning on it: It can short your other components. Be sure to place it somewhere well away from your motherboard and valuable graphics card! There are also some good pros:1. I confirmed this to work with Asus Aura Sync (I have an Asus Prime X470). Push the 'M/B' button.2. The LEDs are bright and beautiful. They are dimmable and you can turn them off if you don't want them on.3. You can control the fan speed with the hub! I thought this was a neat feature. It doesn't have any kind of software though, so if you lose the remote or break you're out of luck.4. The fans, 24 hours in, are running quiet and moving a good amount of air5. The LED color mostly matches my other RGB components6. The fan hub doesn't need any memory-sucking software. It works by itself if you want it to.7. These are extremely well priced. They are well worth the asking price considering you get three fans and get extra features on top of that.Overall I'm pretty happy with these fans. They pair very nicely with a tempered glass case. They're pretty well built and all of the LEDs are on the fan cage so they have the cheapo illuminated fan blades look.4looks good when it works. Good bye to one week of fail product. My unit fail on me after 10 min of use. I'm getting a replacement. Hopefully that doesn't fail.PROS: Comes in a nice box. Nice looking RGB when it's working. Good bang for the dollar. The RGB hub works with mobo and connects to everything related to RGB.CONS: No sata power connection. The RGB hub has no mounting holes. I think it would save enermax money to drill holes on the frame to mount on pc or other places. The fans don't spin as well. Very loud on max speed. Mine unit fail after like 10 min of use.Other thoughts: Please test your kit. For at least 30 min before taking your pc apart and putting on these rgb. It will save you 2 days of pain of waiting for replacements. Why am I getting replacements because I like the look of these RGB fans. I hope who ever reading this really help you make your decision to buy or not to buy. So you didn't throw away one week like me.1T.B. RGB 120mm HALO Grinding, Noisy, Very DisappointedLooks great, sounds like a blender.Pros: - RBG HALO lighting looks amazing - Cooling with the 6 fans is good - Aura RGB CompatibleCons: - Twister Bearing Technology becomes grindy and very loud - IR Remote is not very responsive - Fan speed can only be controlled via the remoteOther:These fans have a huge problem...the Twister Bearing becomes very, very loud. I have had these 6 fans in my case for just over 1 month, for the first 2 weeks they were really quite, then 1 fan started this loud grinding noise and over the last 2 weeks there are now 4 FANS that make this horrible noise. One of the fans (the 1st to have this problem) has a subtle rattling sound all the time now.ENERMAX costumer suport was quick to reply and did try to work with me to resolve the issues but I decided not to RMA the fans. The fact that 4 out of 6 of these fans have the same exact issue and so quickly tells me that this is a manufactured defect with the bearing tech. I mean that is 67% defective rate, so even getting replacement fans there is a good chance that the problem will continue. I am going to hit these fans with some sewing maching oil will help with this problem. These fans are considered on the cheaper end for what you get with this RGB lighting style and these features. But what is the point if the PC sounds like a blender. My suggestion is if you are going to spend this kind of money on fans like this spend a little more and do it right with the Corsair or the NZXT comparable models.2Best fans I've ever owned for the price.I bought 4 of these back around 2008/2009 and I am JUST now replacing them after YEARS of hard use. Even now they still work but they are starting to make some noise and with 4 of them, it can be a bit annoying. I probably should have replaced them last year but I've been putting off pulling my computer apart because I'm lazy like that.STILL... I can't say enough about how great these are. Super easy to clean, VERY quiet and obviously built very well. If you're looking to use multiple fans for cooling, at 44 CFM and 17dBA these things will move some air for ya and do it without making your computer sound like it's getting ready to take off.I highly recommend these as secondary fans (side/top) but I wouldn't use these for the rear or front fan on a large scale build - they just don't push enough air for that IMHO.5
