Customer Reviews

One of the two stopped working after about an hours use. Had to pull the unit apart to repair it, functions now.Worked as expected. As some others complained the light can be seen while you are wearing the band. It can be annoying but if you put some marker or fingernail polish to block the small area on the bottom it's better. Nice and bright.Edit.I keep one of these in my shop and one in my work truck. I went to use the one in my truck today and when I turned it on it was flickering. I rearranged the batteries and it didn't stop. Soon after it stopped working completely. I brought it home and put new batteries in it and it turned on once. Now it won't even turn on. So I bought two and after about an hour of use one of them stopped working. Not happy as I really needed the light because I was working inside cabinets.Update:Well, I was going to return it for exchange but of course I'd have to pay for the shipping which would be about $9.50 for a product that cost my $15. So I threw it in a corner. Last night I had to fix my wife's car FOB and decided I'd pull the light apart. To my surprise it had screws instead of a plastic weld or being snap together which never fares well when you try to take them apart. So I removed the batteries and the 4 tiny philips screws. The unit came apart. There was a white circuit board with two switches and 5 LEDs. The battery terminals were dual function, transfer power and hold the circuit board in place. The B+ terminal was bent at an angle that wouldn't make contact with the contact on the circuit board. After a while I found that you can pull the contact completely out of the battery area. I did it for both the B+ and B- terminals and removed the circuit board. I re-bent the B+ terminal to 90 degrees and re-inserted it. Put the B- back too. Slipped in the batteries and pressed the button and the lights once again came on. Put the unit together and now it seems to function properly.2Multiple FailuresThis light is a good design in that you can get to Night Vision (Red) mode quickly without cycling through white. The problem is they fail. I have owned three and the last one just failed after 6 weeks. The right side switch (red) does not function. Batteries? No they were the first thing I checked. Will be looking for a quality light with the same features from another manufacturer.Update: The chip design must have been changed. The last one I purchased for working through three battery changes. It has not failed and has been working flawlessly for months.4Don't know how I did without one! I love this thing! I work on my Harley at night, pulled out of my garage. I live in the desert and most of the time I can't even do that when it's still in the 90s at 11pm. The garage is at least 20 degrees hotter. So I have work lights I pull out but always have to move them around to really see what I'm doing on any given part of the bike.I put this on the other night to polish up my chrome (which is all over the bike) and what a breeze. I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner. I got the HD and it is certainly all I needed (I considered getting the version with the night vision lense but I rarely use my night vision goggles at home). I'm happier than a pig in s*^#. I honestly could care less how soon I'll need to replace batteries. It has made life so much easier.I DID NOT receive these free or otherwise. I just really like em. 5glad I didn't pay too much for it Got this as Black Friday deal, glad I didn't pay too much for it. It works, just manage your expectations. I have a much older version of an Energizer headlamp and wanted to upgrade to higher lumens. My old one had a nice smooth motion to titling the headlamp, this newest one, almost feels like your going to break it. Need some force to tilt it and it snaps like cheap plastic, have a feeling it's going to break before too long. And now after several uses running a night, the headlamp bounces around even when the angle is pressed all the way in against the headband. Look elsewhere for a more active durable headlamp 2ExcellentBattery life is fantastic and is about as bright as you can get without getting one of the artificial sun headlamps with the power wheel battery strapped to the back of your head. It fits well and does not slide around or feel as if it's going to fall off at any point. Light quality is on point with a very nice spot light effect; not too flood-like, but not a super focused beam. The lamp itself has a 3 position tilt that is super convenient and locks in place at each interval with a satisfying 'click' and will not budge unless you physically move it. 10/10 purchase5Very bright. Improved designI really like this redesigned headlamp. I had one of the old ones from like 8 years ago. It was not very bright, but good for short distance hand work. This new unit is very bright and lights up the entire area. I no longer need to bring another flashlight to see in the room. I have not figured out the adjustment and buttons, but like that it has the feature to keep the last brightness setting. I use the red light when I know it will be on for a long time (like during a power outage) or for keeping night vision. The band is also improved. It seems like it can be replaced if needed (like if it stretches too long) unlike the previous version. I don't like the angle adjustment method on the new headlamp. It seems more difficult to work with, but does the job. It just takes two hands to adjust properly. Overall, works great and would buy again.5Update!! Headlamp = Vein Transilluminator Update! The headlamp is still going strong. In other news, this headlamp is an excellent vein transilluminator. Traditionally, vein transilluminators can cost somewhere between $150 and up, this $15 headlamp can flex into a vein transilluminator. I do plan on purchasing the 250 lumen headlamp to maximize exposure.Super Bright and Easy to UseFlashlights have come a long way in the last decade. It's too hard to compete when most flashlights cost under $50.The head band is great because it frees your hands. Super bright and buttons are easy to use. 5More than I expectedChoices are staggering, including some mighty pricey headlamps, and I wanted to stay under $30.I'm glad I decided on this model over a less expensive one. It turned out to be much more the light than I expected for the price. I really wanted a red lamp for retaining night vision, and a couple of choices for standard light and brightness. I got that and more. Two buttons. One defaults to red, then continues to bright and dim as you press through. The other defaults to bright and can be panned to wide or narrow spot. This one recalls the last setting when you shut if off. Light panel tilts down for your viewing pleasure. It's lightweight, fits in a pocket or pouch and works like a boss.Yep, I'm happy.5Best cheapo headlamp, but there are a couple quirksThis headlamp is very bright and the quality of light is excellent. I do not have a CRI meter, but my judgement puts it above 80, meaning it would be suitable for lighting a video in a pinch. The red setting is TOO BRIGHT since it uses two red leds. I chose this headlamp because it has two buttons, and I needed to be able to turn the red light on without activating the white first. This headlamp is capable of going straight to red, but I would prefer to be able to select whether I want to use one, or two red leds. The buttons that I mentioned do not operate as you might think. The power button cycles between modes, with Red first, then Bright, then Dim. The other button goes straight to Bright white light, or if you are in Red mode it will turn the light off. I would prefer the order of the modes to be Red, Dim, Bright, and I think that Energizer could make such a change very easily if they ever read this review.Overall, I would recommend this headlight. I wish that Energizer had put a little more thought into their programming, but the build quality is great and the LEDs are all high quality. It would be nice to be able to toggle modes with the second button, and toggle whether the light is on with the power button.4First the good - The light works well - its very bright First the good - The light works well - its very bright. There are three settings for brightness. The strap is wide and comfortable. Then the bad - there is a little ratchet mechanism built into the bottom of the light that allows you to adjust the aim downward. It's poorly designed. It ratchets one way (up) very easily. But for my use, this position aims the light too high. Too adjust the light downward, you have to pull pretty hard on it, and it feels like it is going to break the plastic tab. So, I end up taking it off to pull out on the tab with my fingernail, then adjust it, and let the tab go to latch into position. The worst part is - every time I hit the on/off button, the light ratchets back up into it's upward-most position, and I end up having to take it off and adjust it again. Very annoying. 3Goldilocks' HeadlampThese Energizer headlamps don't get nearly enough attention. They are light, super bright, reasonably priced, and don't require special batteries. They have *two buttons*, which makes it much easier to use than the single button lamps you have to learn how to cycle thru endlessly. And they are physical buttons, not unreliable touch sensitive buttons that don't work with normal gloves. My only complaint is that the transparent plastic that encases the main center light sticks out a few millimeters, allowing a small amount of ambient light to travel thru the edge of the plastic and reflect off of the rim of my glasses. This results in a small amount of glare that is counterproductive to overall visibility, but it easily solved with a small band of dark nail polish on the underside of the main light. It is similar to the black band football players put under their eyes to block glare from the sun and it turns this 4.5 star product into a full 5 star product.4PilotsAttention Pilots! I am a CFI with over 40 years of flying experience. In the past, like almost everyone else, I've used a flashlight when flying at night which worked OK but was not always that easy. During the walk around I would shine the flashlight wherever it was needed and in flight I would hang the flashlight from the yoke or around my wrist and reach for it when necessary. NO MORE! I used this light the last time I flew at night and it was amazing! I was able to use both hands during the walk around with the light shining exactly where I needed it to shine. In flight, the same thing, only with the light set on red. The light itself is adjustable downward on your head by using incremental detentes. I can't recommend this highly enough. Your friends might joke that you look like a coal miner but who cares! This is the greatest aid to night flying since - sliced bread?5Perfect light source for hands free evening hikes / night walkBought this Vision HD+ as an alternative to holding a flashlight during evening hikes and it works great. I took off the headband and clip it to my chest trap of the backpack so that I have two free hands, especially useful during the rocky part of the hike. What I like about this model:1) Night vision model - I can use it while hiking with people who prefers walking with natural (moon) lights, it would not bother them as much2) Pivot angle - ability to focus to the distance in front or towards to far distance3) Memory recall - one click on the dedicated button to go back to the preferred mode instead of cycle through all the modes with 3-4 clicks each time you turn it back on4) Light "Angle" - the ability to have light beam focus straight and narrow or wider to the side (This is done by alternating brightness from the center bulb to the side bulbs and vice versa, not physically altering the angle of the bulbs. The extremes values are 1) Center bulb fully on / Side bulbs fully off, 2) Center bulb fully off / Side bulbs fully on)As mentioned with other reviews, it does have minor light leak at the top and bottom. You can decrease the leak by covering the parts by permanent marker, electrical tape, Sugru, and etc. All in all this is a perfect for hands free evening / night hikes. Highly recommended!5Best option for the priceI've tried a bunch of different brands of headlamp, and believe this is the best option out there for the price. The "zoomable" and "Vision HD+" buzzwords aren't really meaningful in my use (the zoom takes some patience with the buttons to even do it). I weighed this in at 3oz which is about average. There are lighter options but most of the weight of a lamp is in the batteries - IMO if you want to save a quarter ounce it's better to go with two Lithium AAA cells than a lighter headlamp that only takes one battery. My only complaint is that there's a big difference in brightness between the red and white modes. The white is perfect but the red is too dim to be much use outdoors.4
