    Great price & value to add Power Over Ethernet to your network Many IoT (Internet of Things) devices e.g. home security cameras, video doorbells, etc want PoE (Power Over Ethernet). This device is recommended by DoorBird for their IP Video Doorbell Stations.Can confirm it works flawlessly. Plug into power, run an ethernet cable from any port (I used a non yellow/non PoE port) to my Netgear X6 Nighthawk router. Worked on bootup. No setup. Hasn't even hiccuped in over a month. Would buy again in a heartbeat. 5It's a good unmanaged switch It's a good unmanaged switch, great price for 8 ports plus 4 with POE. I had only one issue with the POE. Power doesn't make it through POE surge protection devices. The switch will power POE cameras direct, but failed when I added even one surge protector. In some applications this protection is essential and I prefer to use two protectors, one at the camera and one inside at the switch. I've seen this issue before. Other POE switches I've tried worked with some surge protectors and failed completely with others. I don't know the cause, but if you need surge protectors on POE, you'll need to do a compatibility test before installation. 48 Port Gigabit Switch This is a good product. I have had several of these for over a year with not one problem. The best part of it is its simplicity. Plug it in and forget about it. No need to fiddle with management software. Just forget about it. The front panel is color coded so you can easily see which ports are powered (the yellow ones). It is just the right size for home or small office use. My only, somewhat minor complaint is the price seems a bit high. Maybe that will change. So, no technical review here, just a simple endorsement from an experienced user. If you need a PoE switch, this one works well and reliably. 5Great low-cost PoE switch Snagged one of these to operate a few Ubiquiti UAP-AC nodes. Getting this was cheaper than getting three of those that came with their own PoE injectors, and I don't have to install the APs near an AC outlet so I had more flexibility when deciding where to locate the APs.The install has been in place for a couple months now and I've had no issues. Highly recommended. 5Be Careful Which Revision You Get The D-Link 5 Port 10/100 Unmanaged Switch with 4 PoE Ports (DES-1005P) comes in two revisions. Revision A only has one POE port, revision B has four POE ports. The Amazon listing clearly states it has (4) POE ports but the one I received was a Rev A with only (1) POE port. Amazon accepted a return and I reordered, but still a hassle. 2Perfect for IP phones and small network expansions. Easy setup and consistent gigabit speeds. We have purchased two of these for my office, and they perform like champs. We used the PoE ports to run Mitel 5224 IP phones and are now running Snom 710 IP phones. The other ports are used to network multiple computers.These switches are always on, consistent gigabit speeds, and compact enough to hide away underneath the desk. Excellent value and perfect for our needs. Thanks, D-Link! 5Gigabit Switch? I don't think so. I know that cheap workgroup switches can have speed issues which is exactly why we decided to spend a little more on several that we need for some upgrades. Since they're going in workgroup areas, size is an issue. Even though we really only need 4-5 ports max, we opted for these thinking the PoE would be a nice perk, and perhaps it's a higher quality switch. Unfortunately as soon as this switch was put in line, internet speeds dropped from over 100 Mbps down and 19 Mbps up to 9 down and 9 up. A far cry from being "Gigabit" technology. Returning to Amazon. 1Great PoE+ switch for the money I am using this to power 3 ubiquiti access points in a small church. It works great and although it's unmanaged I didn't really need it to be a managed switch for this application. Would highly recommend if you just need to power a couple of access points. 5Works great, surprisingly rugged I bought this POE switch quite some time ago for the purpose of installing and configuring IP cameras. I'm an alarm technician and use the switch several times a week, either at the office or in the field, to set up POE IP cameras. Being in the field this little switch has seen some abuse, but despite being dropped, stepped on, rained on, etc, it still works great.I bought a second one for a customer to power their 4 POE cameras in a warehouse. Has ran 24/7 for about a year and a half now with no complaints from the customer. Pretty reliable product.If you're looking to power just a small amount of POE devices this is a great alternative to spending hundreds or thousands on a big dedicated switch. 5If you're pondering this product, yes, get it. I purchased this for work as I needed a PoE port at my desk to commission IP cameras prior to field installation. The port has a class 3 rating (15.4 watts) which works for nearly all the devices I commission. Would be nice to have a second PoE port on it, but for the price you just can't beat this. If you're thinking about this product, just get it. I was skeptical but am so glad I purchased it, it has made my work much easier. 5
