Works fine on a long threaded stem This works fine on a long threaded stem. I didn't need all the extra parts that are for short stems. The diverter mechanism works well, which is what I had issues/leaks with on the old one.I see that replacement parts for just the diverter mechanism are available, but I decided to replace the whole thing. Maybe next time I'll just get the replacement diverter mechanism parts. 5Better than original So glad I decided to give Danco a chance. After calling Moen and getting replacement spouts that just didn t hold up, I decided to buy an aftermarket spout from Danco. This spout fit perfectly onto my threaded copper pipe and did not leak at all. Teflon tape was included in the package to insure a tight seal. The diverted worked better than any original Moen spout ever did. The seal on the diverted was absolute and directed 99.9% of the water to the shower when pulled up. No more Moen for me, Danco from this point in if I ever need another diverter spout. 5Good replacement, but a little complicated I was looking for a replacement for my diverter and this one was very similar to the one I have and fit well. The build and quality of the product is pretty good but it is a bit complicated to install and the instructions are a little confusing. However, once fit it works as expected and the price is pretty decent too than getting something from Home Depot 4Solid value Bought this for the kid's bathroom. Old one wasn't working well anymore. In my situation, i took off the old one and the exisiting mounting hardware worked for this one. Just screwed it off, put some teflon tape on, and screwed this one on. Works fine. It is probably not as durable as higher end brands but i just needed a quick fix and wanted to match the existing gold/brass fixtures in the bathroom - will remodel later. Note, mounting hardware which came with faucet would have worked if i needed it, it appeared to be the same system that was already on the pipe. 5Confusing instructions, had to modify For a 1/2 inch copper pipe sticking out of wall (1/2" copper stub out). Instructions are very poorly written, I doubt the person that wrote them has even installed one. That said when tightening the plastic extender onto plastic adapter with the O ring between them, the "molded hole" for the screw ends up on the wrong side. Not aligning with slot in adapter. I drilled a 1/4 hole on the opposite side of the molded hole. This worked. No leak. The quality of the spout itself is good and looks great, and diverter works good. 2Faulty Design This spout is completely useless. I have installed several of these in the past, but never this brand. The design is overly complicated compared to other brands, and simply doesn't work. In order to work on a pipe without threads two plastic pieces must line up so that the screw goes all the way through both, but when they are screwed all the way together the holes do not line up. If you loosen it so that they line up, the extra space allows water to flow through the gap back into your wall. Spend the extra few dollars for a name brand. 1Nice spout, but you may need an escutcheon Great upgrade for my corroded chrome Price Pfister tub spout. Install was easy with no leaks, but I had to purchase a Danco escutcheon from Lowe's to put behind it, as it is shorter than my previous spout, and I did not want to make any plumbing modifications to shorten the pipe. Looks great with the plate. In fact, it makes it look higher end. 4Good replacement for my 2.5" copper stub out This item is suitable for a 1/2" copper pipe stub out having a length of 2.5-3". I confirmed with Danco's customer service rep via telephone before making my purchase. I'm just a handy house-mom who found the Installation easy enough because I had the proper equipment (sandpaper, silicone grease, screwdriver, teflon tape) and patience. Be sure you test for leaks after installation (ie: run the shower and watch if water drips out near the wall. On my first 3 tries, the "O"-ring didn't rest exactly right at the lip of the adapter. I was patient, took everything apart, and went through the install until I got it perfect at the 4th try. The company had a you-tube video to demonstrate the ease of installation. Thumbs up so far! 5never screw completely on I have used these 3 times now on 3 different jobs. I thought I was doing something wrong or there was something off with the existing spouts on the jobs, but its these pieces! In each case, I had a standard stub out of copper from behind the wall and all 3 were exactly 4" out, as they are suppose to be. At the end of each stub out was a soldered on brass fitting with male threads, as is standard in the northeast here. And yes, the 4" out from wall includes this threaded fitting. In each case, these Dance spouts only thread on maybe 3 or 4 full turns and then stop? No matter what I do (clean thread, cuts an 1/8" off threads, etc) these spouts wont thread any tighter to wall. So the spout end up 1/8" or so off the wall!! So I end up having to buy a backer plate to make up the difference. However, with the backing plates the female threads on the spout barely reach the male threads on the stub out now, making it difficult to catch the threads and start tightening. Especially since I cut a 1/16"-1/8" off the threads to try and make it work. The only thing I can figure is that these brass threaded fittings on the end of the stub outs have a different style thread then the female ones on these spouts. Which means they will turn a couple times then stop? Very annoying, especially when these spouts claim to work in 99% of situations, simple not true, I should'nt even need to use a backing plate at all. Just for the record, I am a general contractor, so I am not a novice or DIY'er, I know what I'm doing even though I am not a plumber by trade. 1NOT universal I bought this to replace an old tub spout with a broken diverter. It is NOT universal. The adapters that come with it will fit several different setups but not mine. I had to make a trip to Home Depot to get more connectors so I ended up spending about $10 more. The tub spout w/diverter works fine, but if you have an old (15 years+) tub spout to replace, this may not fit without some creative plumbing. 3
