Customer Reviews

I love the power saving feature of this surge protector I love the power saving feature of this surge protector. It leaves the little "standby" light on all the time on my TV, which is plugged into the "master" outlet. This is the only vampire power that I am wasting now. All of my gaming systems and other connected components only turn on when the TV is on, so I am saving a lot of power. It also has an on/off switch if you want to completely cut power to everything, and it has nice indicator lights to show you if the outlet is grounded and if your devices are being protected. My one complaint is that the configuration of the outlets makes it hard to use all of the outlets available. I also might be willing to sacrifice some of the "always on" outlets for more power-saving outlets. That being said, I doubt that any surge protector can anticipate and satisfy the needs of every user. I have never had one that perfectly fits my needs. There are too many oddly shaped plugs that take up too much room on a surge protector. And it is hard to anticipate how many "always-on" vs power-saving outlets people will want. 4Jury is still out... The Jury is still out on this one. I bought this to replace one we bought at Staples. I plug my laptop into the Master, and run my monitors, printer, and other peripherals off of the Slave outlets. Problem is, it keeps cutting out... Almost like the laptop power isnt sufficient enough to keep everything else running. Any suggestions?Update 9/21/16: I talked to Matt in Tech Service. This device requires 40W of power to be drawn through the Master outlet to activate the Slave/Energy-Saving Outlets. I think this is a bit high, since most of my computer equipment is Energy Star rated, and doesnt pull a consistent 40W. I will probably return this and purchase another unit with a lower threshold. 1Negatively affects cable modem connection I bought this surge suppressor to protect my cable modem from surges in both cable TV and electric networks. The protector may negatively impact cable modem connection if the cable is passed through this surge protector. I experienced random modem disconnects with this surge protector. The Time Warner Cable / Spectrum technician tested the link quality directly and with pass-through this surge protector, and found the link quality to be impaired when the signal was passed through it. As a result I would not recommend using this protector for the cable Internet lines. 3The Beast.... I've been buying Cyberpower power supplies for a while now and I've been always satisfied with them. This time also there is no surprise. The outlet is very solid and sturdy! It comes with a very powerful 3150 surge protector. One of the main reason I got the 12 outlet was that it gives me 4 wide space for bigger sockets as I always have difficulty fitting them in regular outlets. I have connected my 65" Smart TV, Blue-ray player, Home theater, game console, and a Mini computer all to this device without a problem. Another reason I like this is that all the plugs will be on at ALL times unlike some other ones that have power saving mode in which if the main device is off all the other plugs turn off. That's not the case with this one. Overall, It's a great device and comes with a great warranty for my peace of mind. 5Works well, just not for every situation The reviews that say that it doesn't keep the power switched on to the slave outlets when the master is hooked up to an LCD/LED TV are correct. I originally had this configured to power on an amplifier (on a slave outlet) when the TV turned on, but the initial power on of the TV would power the amp on then, it would drop enough that the power would turn off on the amp, then once the signal was processed on the TV it would kick it back on again. I didn't want the amp power thrashing like that. I ended up moving the master power to drive off my receiver. I was a bit concerned that I would get amp thump, but that isn't the case, so powering off the receiver works just fine for me. What I really needed was a power sequencer, but I wasn't willing to drop that kind of coin. This serves its purpose. Just know that a device that has low draw or wildly fluctuating draw may cause the slave outlets to turn off from time to time. 4excellent product, very good price excellent product, very good price. It has 5 always on outlets so you can plug in cable box, computer or whatever you always want on. Then it has 6 outlets that are controlled by a Master outlet. I plugged in my AV receiver into the master outlet, plugged in subwoofer into one of the switched outlets so when i turn on my receiver, it also powers on my subwoofer, this saves electricity and prevents surges from damaging the subwoofer. It has COAX surge protection also to keep your TV tuner safe from surges. It also has phone protection and internet cable protection. 5Master socket power strip This replaced an older power strip that I had from a different manufacturer that stopped working. This is the identical power strip that I previously had but with green outlets and a different brand name. I had the old one for several years and really enjoyed it. These kinds of power strips are great at keeping power hungry devices from drawing power in standby mode. 5Poor Quality, malfinctioning green option. I came into this relationship with a lot of expectations to live up to. Unfortunately these were not met. The master switch in mine has started being faulty these last few week. (Such as my TV is on, so my PlayStation, sound bar, etc are all set up so that if the TV is off then they are. What has started happening is the TV is on, working normally then suddenly the tv stays on but I can audible hear the click of the switch that causes all of the slave plugs to turn off. This is ESPECIALLY applying with a PlayStation. 1As Advertised... CyberPower CSHT1208TNC2G I bought two of these to replace two from another manufacturer. The others were "automatic" and turned EVERYTHING off when they sensed drops in current load. The idea is flawed since the nature of HT & computer equipment is to change the load from time to time. This leads to random and unwanted shut-downs. For example... After finishing a print job, the printer went into standby mode which decreases the current consumed. The $/?@% surge protector thought it would be a good idea to shut down the whole system. Infuriating after several occurances. This CyberPower unit functions beautifully and lets the user decide when it all will shut down. I even like the looks. I would buy these again if needed. My sole gripe is that they won't wash my socks. 5Great Power Strip recommend to anyone I love this power strip. So something that confused me when I was ordering this item was how many of the different master/slave ports so you have five regular ports (always on), one master port (always on) and 6 slave ports (only on when the poster port has enough power being consumed). Now when I used the master port to control my slave ports I plugged my TV into the master port and when the TV was on the slave ports were on as well, when the TV was off the slave ports were off as well. This works perfectly since how I have several entertainment systems (xbox, steroids reliever, WII) which would only turn on if the TV was on. This resulted in a couple bucks a month decrease in electricty cost. If you add this to the warranty that comes with the power strip it's the best investment that I've purchased. 5
