Worst water pressure I've ever seen I tried taking out the water regulator to see if I would get increased performance and nothing. The water pressure, with or without the regulator + black rings, either way, is so bad that it doesn't "spray", it just kinda falls out of the showerhead. This is the worst it could possibly be. 1Disappointing Shower Experience I bought this showerhead after being in a hotel that had a similar "rain" showerhead. We really enjoyed it and thought it would be nice to have one at home. We already had a Culligan filtering showerhead and loved it so I didn't think twice about buying this one. However, after using it for about 6 weeks, I uninstalled it today and put the old one back on. Here are the issues:1. Most important - there isn't enough water pressure through the showerhead. The water just kind of drops down so you have to stand really close to it to even be in the water stream. We liked strong pressure so it is a bit of a massage.2. We took the water saver out which helped a little but only because it dumped huge amounts of water out of it. But, given the severe droughts in this country, we just didn't feel good about using it this way and wasting so much water.3. It is a pain in the you know what to replace the water filter. You have to unscrew 6 different screws to take the facing off. Not easy when it is mounted in the shower. Plus the o-ring doesn't always fit back in quite right and you get drips from the edge of the showerhead.4. IF you have a shower mount that extends out enough that this showerhead can lie completely horizontal and the water can flow straight down, you might get the experience of a gentle rainfall shower that would make it easy to shower and rinse. But it probably won't have any kind of water pressure.I wish I could return this but I don't have the packaging anymore and I doubt it is returnable. 2Love it.We ordered the Culligan RDSH-C115 RainDisc Shower Head with Filter, and two additional WHR-140 filter cartridges and have been using it for about a week. The instructions say to remove the black rubber water saver if the flow is too low, which was the case with us. The filters are good for 10,000 gallons which I calculated as two showers a day for about 6 months. Since we removed the water saver, which seems to double the flow, I figure a filter should last about 3 months.Installation was fairly simple. I removed the old shower head and left the old thin plumber's tape on the threads of the water pipe. I removed the six screws from the face of the shower head to open it. I removed the stickers from both sides of the filter cartridge and pressed it in to the shower head about 1/4 inch. I replaced the 6 screws and screwed the shower head on to the water pipe. When I ran the shower I felt the flow was not strong enough so I unscrewed the shower head from the pipe and (as per the instructions) pulled out the small black rubber water saver plug from the pipe end of the shower head (using a scissor). I screwed the shower head back onto the water pipe and tightened it with pliers. The flow without the water saver is large and feels like a water stream from a large pipe. There's no needle like spray, just a soft large volume of water falling on you.The chlorine remover really works. After just a couple of uses, skin and hair are noticeable softer and soap or shampoo seem to rinse more thoroughly and quickly. In summer the chlorine smell in our NJ hard water is quite pungent, and this removed it completely.5Looks good, feels goodMine had 2 layers of labels protecting the filter which was quite obvious in hindsight, but very frustrating at 6am when you know you've already removed some labels and you just need to take a shower and get moving... Customer support at Culligan was wonderful, and was as surprised as I was that there were 2 layers of labels on each side of the filter. A ton of water comes out, but it falls on you like rain, there's not a lot of pressure to shoot it out into the tub, so you find yourself standing close to the wall to get wet. They recommend buying the extension arm to make it stick out farther so you can stand right under it, probably a good idea. The water feels nice and my skin feels better after just one shower. It's plastic, but it looks great, clever design.4Removes chlorine from the showerTwo part review--(1) the shower head and (2) the activated carbon filter. The shower head is chrome plated plastic but it looks nice and feels reasonably substantial. However if you drop it on a tile floor I suspect it will break. Installation is easy. It has a flow restrictor to save water but I found that it restricted it so much that flow was totally inadequate. The flow restrictor can be removed (in ours it was an orange "o-ring" housed in a small plastic insert that pops apart) and with full flow it is really a nice shower but wasteful of water. While it is possible to reduce flow some with the hot/cold levers, I installed a shower head shut-off valve so that it is set for all users. Culligan should include alternate flow restrictors. To replace the carbon cartridge you have to remove about half dozen screws from the front of the shower head--easier if you remove the the entire shower head and do that on a table. My rating for the shower head is three stars (if they'd include alternate flow restrictors it would be five star). The carbon cartridge is great at removing chlorine from the water--the difference was immediately noticeable in removing the smell and the feel of skin and hair. A carbon cartridge DOES NOT soften the water as some reviewers have claimed, but getting rid of the chlorine will make your skin and hair feel better. And the design of the shower head makes it feel like soft rain falling. The life of the cartridge will depend on usage--removing the flow restrictor will shorten cartridge life. The amount of chlorine in the city water will also impact lifespan. Same with the number and length of daily showers. I'm estimating for two of us the cartridge will last 3-4 months. My rating for the cartridge is 5 stars.4If you don't get this, you WILL regret it!By far the best showerhead filter EVER (and I am the worst critic). I have the Culligan under the sink RO filter and absolutely love it so I thought I would give their showerhead a try. I had to remove the water stopper like the other reviewers as there was absolutely NO water pressure. But once removed, WOW! Not only do I love taking more showers now because of the cleanliness of the water and the awesome water pressure, there is no more brown "gook" all over the corners of my shower due to the chemicals in my local water. I don't know why I waited this long.Yes I will probably have to change filters more frequently since there is higher water pressure but I don't care. Small price to pay for the quality of water coming out of this thing. Go Culligan!5NSF Certified Showerhead that Works w/Some KinksIt's a bit fussy to install, but still doable for someone with few skills like myself. It's NSF certified to reduce chlorine, and it really works. My skin is much less dry. Two things to consider, though. 1) Because it's a rainhead-type head, You may want to buy a shower extender. (Delta makes a nice one.) 2) This thing drips after turned off for a good 15 minutes. Not a steady drip. But silence, then a bunch of water. Over and over. It freaks out my kids at night. So I always finish my shower well before bedtime.4BEST SHOWER EVERWe have well water.. with that funky sulfer smell and yellowing on the porcelain. This shower head is really doing the trick. There is virtually no sulfer smell now.. and I don't see the yellowing in the shower! Oh.. and did I mention it is the best shower i have ever had? Usually you find that these shower heads don't let much water through.. but this makes you feel like you are in a tropical warm downpour! It rinses the shampoo easily and quickly.. and keeps your whole body awash as you stand in the shower.. LOVE IT. As many other users have stated.. we removed the water saver plug from the get-go. We are on a well/septic.. so not as worried about the cost of water/sewer.. it only costs just a little more in the cost of elictricity to pump more water. Environmentally.. we are just putting more "water" in our drainfield.. which isn't a big deal.. it came out of the ground.. it's going back in the ground.. the amount of "soap" isn't changing whether we have the plug in or not.. We haven't tried taking showers back to back yet though.. so we may find out that the first shower is using the whole hot water heater.. if that is the case.. increasing the water temperature may help us so we can just use more cold to dilute.. and the heated water will last longer. The showerhead looks nice.. but it is plastic.. so I am hoping it is durable.. since I really love the way it makes my shower feel!5Nice looking but no effect on my hard waterThis is a nice looking rainfall shower head. It looks produces a wide, even spray. However according to the hardness testing strips I bought here on amazon, the water coming out of it is basically identical to what comes out without a shower head attached. See if you can tell which strip is which ... I can't .2Simple to install and useOur rental has VERY hard water and it has come to the point where we needed to do something as the hard water was seriously causing my hair to fall out. It seemed moderately easy to replace. We bought tape at the store and I am glad we did. The video I had watched showing how it set up made it seem like tape was included. I tend to run the showert a few minutes before I start to use it. It has definitely made a difference without going the whole soft water treatment route. I am hoping in time it will be very effective. It does seem to be markedly less than it was.4Hate LoveI originally purchased this in August 2010. It started rusting and squirting water everywhere so purchased a new one November 2019. I don t know if I got a defective one or what. Water would leak/squirt out of the sealed seam. I spent forever trying to fix it until I think I realized one of the plastic sections that the screws screw into was sticking out a little too much and preventing a good seal on the rubber seal. I filed it down and added Silicone caulk just to be safe and no more leaks. This thing should really be redesigned. Crazy it hasn t changed in 9 years. I think the only thing different that I noticed was the little flow regulator thingy. Also FYI I sealed off the out holes, and altered the flow regulator so it restricts a little flow. This way I m probably saving a little water but not sacrificing pressure. Wish there were more rain style shower heads with enclosed filters, unfortunately this is really your only option. Not really gonna comment on the filter, I have no idea if it actually does anything. I just figure better safe than sorry.4Nearly ZERO water pressureI tried to remove the plastic insert at the connection end but that didn't help. Basically the design is flawed. The holes at the shower head are too big to build any water pressure. If you cover about half of the holes by hand, you get a bit more pressure.Returned immediately.1
