Customer Reviews

Very easy to use and Very Sharp I haven't had to cut sheet metal since junior high school in metal shop. My wife and I decided to install tin ceiling panels as a back splash in our kitchen. I had an old pair of tin snips but I was afraid they would damage the panels and I saw these at a reasonable cost. They helped me make short work of the project and were very easy to use. I'm not sure about the durability, but they are fairly heavy duty. Now I can tackle projects involving sheet metal with relative ease (I have some in mind, like radiator covers). 5... needed will cut paper - fit and finish are excellent overall works as expected - would recommend Hmm - its a Wiss cutter made in the USA - so it works - this tool cuts without fold over - no dead spots when cutting - cuts without excess burrs and virtually no slop - can be used as a pair of scissors if needed will cut paper - fit and finish are excellent overall works as expected - would recommend.. 5A GREAT tool in my opinion! - YES!!! - Finally, I can cut the 0.031" thick spring-tempered 301 stainless steel shim I had bought last year - it's 3/8" wide and I needed to cut it in half. - I also bought *100 feet* of it. - I tried all sorts of rotary wheels and hacksaw blades. Then I saw these "snips" recommended in a couple of metalworking forums I came across while searching for methods to cut the shim and **they WORK** =:-D - There *is* a bit of a learning curve, and I won't say it's *easy*, since I have arthritis, but at least I *can* do it. - I also did my 'homework into various types of aviation snips, and settled on these Wiss straight-cut. Happy I did so! - I am so glad that I can use the shim I bought - getting anything more narrow in stainless costs *much* more than I could afford, especially in spring temper. I also tried these on some sheet stainless steel ("stove backing") that I'd salvaged a few years ago, and that actually cuts easily, so finally, I can make use of it :) I have other plans as well that I can now finally try doing, Hooray! - OK, yeah, so I *am* easily amused, LOL!, but seriously, these are working *so* well and I really am happy because I can finally go to the next stage of my current project, *and* start on a couple other things I have been wanting to try. Had I known how well these work, I would have bought them several years ago, but better late than never ;) 5Broke the first time out Bought these snips based on positive reviews and the impressive video on the website. Used them the day after they arrived to trim gutter guards, a Saturday DIY project. Less than half-way through the job the snips broke. Considering that I'm 67 years old and weigh no more than 150 pounds, it's unlikely that I exerted extraordinary force. Had to interrupt the job to hit Home Depot for a pair of DeWalts. BTW, I'd hoped to reach the company to give them a shot at replacing them, but found no customer contact email on their site 1Does the job. These are great for cutting thick metal sheet and are a quicker easier alternative to a jewelers saw but they do leave a tooth pattern along the edge, matching the jaw. It's easily filed off.... or keep it for a pattern along a bezel ... 5Doesn't work on corset boning I bought this to cut corset boning. The first few pieces it was great, but after that it mostly just mashed it rather than cutting it. Slightly better for straight than spiral boning, but even that is a 50-50 chance of bending rather than cutting. 2Funny story So i got these because i had an industrial piercing. Well the jewlery i got was bit small and made my ear swell up. I was able to remove the balls at the end. However this peice of jewlery had a dice in the middle of the bar. Was not able to remove the jewlery because of this and after a few weeks after the swelling went down. I was still unable to remove it. So 9 bought thia and cut the end off. Now im free and this is my savior. 5Tough and strong metal cutter This thing is tough. I bought it to cut some hard drive cages out of a Dell computer case to fit in a bigger video card. The metal isn't that thick but the edges are rolled over to be double thickness. This thing was able to power through the edges and then the rest was easy. The subtle serrations keep the thing cutting instead of rolling over like cheaper cutters. 5A better choice than a Wiss M3 for right cutting! I've had a Wiss M1 left cut (red handle) cutter for years & it's served me well. There have been times I needed a right cut, but made do with what I had. Finally I decided to get the correct tool to make the task easier.Unfortunately, my first search for right cut snips didn't go well, as I opted for a Wiss M3, left, center & right cut (yellow handle) snips. What I thought was a better choice than an M2 right cut (green handle), turned out to be a mistake, as the M3 (yellow handle) is pretty much the same as the M1 left cut (red handle)! :(My search for the CORRECT right cut snips found these! :)The pros:+ Good product reviews.+ Not too expensive & the shipping is included.+ Well made tool, as good as my Wiss M1, which I've had for years. The cons:- None so far. Update - November 2, 2013This is a nice tool, but having had it for awhile, I find I don't use it that often. I can see why most go with the left cut, either red or yellow handle snips, as that's the one you'll use the most. :) 4These are awesome for cutting cans to make beautiful recycled art :) I am a recycle artist.. I take trash and with my imaginations and these awesome lil cutters turn it into beautiful treasures. :) These are AWESOME for cutting soup cans to make my big 30" Sunflower garden art .... They are so easy to use and still sharp after cutting hundreds of cans.. :) I luv them! ---Shawna 5
