High beam is bright but 3 way switch starts with ... High beam is bright but 3 way switch starts with brightest option. I would prefer it to be reversed. Hugh negative is it EATS BATTERIES. I have 3 different headlamps and use them every day. This one is hardest on batteries. 2You light up my life!! I love this thing. Can use for hunting, camping, repairs around the house or car. Comfortable on the head. Three brightness light means the perfect amount of lighting for any situation. 5Good Light, Simple User Interface, Reasonable Price The light is a good neutral white, and it illuminates the field evenly. One button only. Push it once and get the brightest setting; push again and get the middle setting; another push gives the lowest; a fourth push turns it off. The large button requires a firm push; so it's unlikely to get turned on by accident. Easily operated with ski gloves on. Turning the ring around the lens produces a bull's eye spot, which is a floodlit field with a bright center. Both the spot and the field are evenly lit. 5Great light. I primarily use this headlamp for backpacking so it is important to be light weight, powerful and have long battery life. This light provided all. I also bought one of the 2000+ lumen lights with rechargable batteries from another seller but it is way too heavy for backpacking. I highly recommend this light. I use it for night work around my home and it has become my light of choice. 5Not the greatest for endurance runs If you are using it for running the batteries last about an hour and 20 minion high. Not the greatest for endurance runs. 3Very good lighting The 400 lumens is not hype! It throws a lot of light on highest setting. 2nd setting only slightly dimmer. 3rd setting is about half and still quite good. I suppose Coast got feedback on their switches being too easily activated because this light switch has to have a firm centered press to activate. Less likely to turn on accidentally in a gear bag. The lamp assembly swivels with a click and stays in place where you put it.My only gripe is that the band is too wide. Tends to slip upwards on the head in use. Its best suited to use with a cap. Band to cap clips are included but I haven't tried them yet. 4Great, extra bright, simple work headlamp! I have tried a LOT of headlamps for work. This is a pretty good one to use...great bright light without having to endlessly cycle though needless red lights...and no extra pack to hold the batteries. This is an upgrade for me...used the Coast light (that didn't focus) with 300 lumens,..this one is brighter and with a twist I can focus in with the light for a more direct beam....I love it! It's simple and easy to use and gives you a bright light! 5it's very light weight and comfortable. Great product. 5returned 2x - bad battery holder on both returned the first time about a month ago due, now the second also failed. Too bad, I had great luck on other Coast headlamps, this one needs the battery cage redesigned 1
