Not that great...I print a lot of pictures, so I thought this was a good idea. If I print from the memory card, it will cut off some of the picture.(Half a face, the cool tree on the side...just gone) I've played around with the settings (boarder-less, or boarders) and couldn't find a way around this. So, I had to install the software and hook it to my computer. (No longer portable printer). The software is a joke. Extremely slow, and it's not my computer. (Asus Republic of Gamers i7 laptop with 16GB ram, USB 3.0 125GB SSD, Windows 7). It takes forever to scan through and pick up all my pictures, and it has to do this every time I start the program. Most times I just get little blank squares, and have to close the program and restart it. It does allow you to move the picture and pick what you want it to cut off, but it will not scale it. So, I have to go to Photoshop, change the image size, save it, wait for the printer software to find the picture, then wait for it to print. Kind defeats the purpose of 'quick printing at home'. The pictures are clear, and pretty when they finally print though, have to give it that. I have had quite a few pictures (12 total now) that when I click print, the printer will just spit out the white card, not printing a picture on it. I thought I could just put the paper back in and try again, but no, the ink for that picture is gone, so it is wasted. I'm not real sure why it's doing this. I guess it's okay for the price, and what it is. If I had the chance to use one before ordering, I would not have bought this. But it is what it is. I will keep sending my pictures to Snapfish for now, and use this for the one of two pictures I want to print at home.2Nice printer, excellent quality, onboard picture editing needs workThe quality of this printer is outstanding. I tried several of the new wireless photo inkjet printer (HP, Epson), and none of them came close to the quality that this printer can produce. The clarity was much higher with the Canon. I much prefer the dry ink process to the ink jets that can clog over time.Con - The onboard software for picture printing leaves much to be desired. Putting an SD Card into the slot on the machine results in pictures that get blown up too far, leaving the tops of pictures cut off (often someones head, unfortunately). It prints much better from the computer, as the software on the computer handles how the picture is printed. LCD is also really grainy and hard to work with for printing from the machine. Better to print from a device to the printer.I hope Canon updates this printer with a wireless option and better onboard software for using SD cards directly with the machine. I was able to print from my Android phone to the printer using the "Print" app available on the android market, but only when I have the printer plugged into my computer. It actually print quite fast wirelessly using this method.Overall, a nice machine, worth having over a larger color printer if you just want to print 4x6 photos.4Great results! Works like your own photo lab at home! One of the best things I liked before I bought this was the low cost of the Printer and most of all, the low cost of the supplies (You can find 108 prints for less than $20). The quality this printer puts out, is incredible and instant. You cannot go wrong with this this printer if you want the quality of a photo lab and the convenience of instant gratification right at your fingertips. If you wish to see a demonstration of how this printer works, visit YouTube and search for Canon Selphy CP800 photo printer. You will get to see exactly how long it takes to produce a photo from start to finish. I also like that you don't have to rely on your computer to print. You can print from a number of different memory cards. The last printer I had was a Sony Dye Sublimation printer and strickly connected to the PC only and relied on software made for Windows XP. When Windows Vista came along and Sony decided not to support drivers for the printer in Windows Vista. I was left with a useless piece of electronics. With this Canon, you can print from a variety of sources so you are in good shape when it comes to changes. I buy smarter these days than I use to, mostly from learning hard lessons like that Sony incident. I try hard not to make the same mistakes twice. This printer is a good purchase and I feel I've made a good decision in buying it. You will too!5Nice little printerI bought this printer specifically because the ink doesn't run dry. I tend to print in small batches, with 6 or more months in between printings. This system will cost me less per print in the long run because the ink will not dry up as compared to an inkjet printer.I'm very impressed with the quality of the prints! Canon nailed it here, and this is where it counts. The colors are vivid but natural and the detail is great. Photos come out sharp. An impressive feature of this printer is the built-in printer adjustments. I used my Nikon D3100 camera to shoot a friend's newborn baby. Then I placed the SD card in the Selphy and noticed that the baby was too pink because of incorrect camera settings. No problem, because the Selphy has a printer adjustment, the "My Colors" setting. I set it to "Neutral" and just like that the pink skin became a natural creamy tone without desaturating the bright blue of his baby clothes. This setting, by the way, is exactly what one would adjust in a Canon camera to get a natural skin tone, and it's great that Canon included that technology here in this printer.Because of the in-printer adjustments, I wouldn't need to print from my computer unless I were doing some major editing or cropping. The Selphy doesn't come with a cable to connect to the PC but it's a common USB 2.0 cable and I happened to have an extra laying around. I didn't touch the CD that it came with. Instead I downloaded the latest drivers (drivers only, without the software) directly from Canon. Installed easily and works great with my computer running Windows 7.Overall I'm very happy with this purchase!5Fabulous little printerThis printer is fabulous! We absolutely love the scrapbooks we are able to make with the variety of sizes this printer creates. The maximum size is 4x6, but we use the 1/2 and 1/4 sizes a lot. The way we use it -- from the computer, group the pics you want to print at each size, and load those onto a thumb drive together. So, if you want 2 1/2-size pics, put just those 2. If you want 1/4-size, load just those 4. Then navigate to the menu and choose the layout. Another favorite is the 'shuffle', where you can load up to 7 pics to be combined into a 4x6 mosaic.A couple of small quirks -- the shuffle is random, and you can't see the layout before it prints. Always a surprise, but usually good. Also, if you have edited a photo, then it will not display on the preview screen. That's why we load just what we want to print at one time, rather than trying to choose from a large number in the printer itself. You have to arrow down through the menu to get to the layout options, so I wish that was at the top. But, we have had this for 2 years, and have printed at least 400 photo pages on it so far, which means well over a thousand vacation photos. Far cheaper than printing everything at full size, and far more interesting to have the variety of sizes in our layouts.5Canon can do better...I'm a semi-pro / freelance photographer who on many occassions would like to print out a photo right away vs. ordering prints through an external party.I have used this printer for awhile now and there definitely are some major pros and cons with this canon printer.Pros:-Print quality is rather impressive as long as your original image file is crisp and clear.-Very portable and light weight, battery sold seperately a great option.-Can print via usb, card reader or through computer.Cons:-The worst part - takes forever to print one photo (close to a minute per photo) - if you have a bunch of photos to print or at an event and printing photos for guests, the speed is unbearable...-If you connect to a computer, some software is required - and also NOT COMPATABLE with MAC (no software available).-Prints are approximately $0.30 per sheet vs. avg $0.10 ordering online. For personal use to print few photos I would recommend, but for anything else especially for an event don't bother.3Reordered this item, this time everything was perfectAgain I paid for and purchased a new item, when my Canon printer arrived, the unit had scratches and fingerprints all over, so I have some suspicions about new, but I needed the printer anyway so I went ahead and loaded the software, and hooked up the printer. The screen displayed a message replace ink cartridge, not a problem, except the ink cartridge would not eject, it was jammed. We tried a few attempts to unjam it and remove it, and decided we might damage the printer if we continued. Best solution, return the item for refund. I really do need this printer, so I actually reordered another one, I must say the second one was much better, first of all the condition of the box and the printer was like new. The one I purchased was sold as used in good condition, but I must say it was in excellent condition. The important thing is, got it all hooked up started printing, everything is working perfect. I want to update this review so people know that if you have a defective item, exchange it or reorder it, and you'll eventually, get a good product.5canon selphy printerfirst off I would like to thank the lady who made the video review on the selphy printer. I read so many reviews on this printer a lot were good and a few not so good but after seeing her video showing how it worked I ended up buying one. I just received it on 10/04/2011 this is a very nice little printer set up was very easy downloading solution disk was easy had no problem doing it on vista. after setting everything up it was time to test it outwell it works great. pictures came out very good I'm so glad I bought this printer the cost of each print is about 27 cents but for me that's ok because the nearest walmart is 30 miles away. you add up the 9 cents walmart charges plus gas on a 60 mile round trip I think 27 cents is a good deal for me. there is a drug store 13 miles away but there you have to stand and print your pictures from something that looks like an ATM. plus its cheaper then using my HP all in one printer that takes 6 ink cart. I would say this is a very good product seems well made prints great from my canon powershot SX10 IS camera or just the memory card or one of over 6000 pictures I have stored on my computer. would I buy this again YES would I recommend to a friend YES shipped and rec on time.you can see how well picture turned out I added it to customer Images its the picture of the Mississippi River in Wabasha Minnesota.5Well rounded little printerI have had small portable printers before and what I like best about this one is that it does not use the ink jet cartridges. I was a little concerned about the quality as I read up on this printer but the pictures that it produces are great. The problem we had with the inkjet printers was if the printer sat for any length of time they would dry out and you would waste a lot of time and ink trying to clean them. This new process you don't have to worry about that anymore. We took it to our family reunion and it held up very well printing tons of pictures for everyone to take home as a souvenir. Not having the printer cable didn't matter to me since we have plenty from previous printers and we really had no plans to plug it in to a computer since we were mainly interested in inserting the media card to print from. The power cord color seems a little trivial and didn't think it looked bad at all as mentioned in other reviews.Wasn't sure about the paper type at first since it had removable tabs on each end but after we got going we really didn't give it a second thought. The only negative thing I can really say is that I wish the borders were built in to the printer and that the print time was around 30 seconds but otherwise we are very pleased with the printer so much so that we are going to purchase one for my nieces for Christmas since they are both getting new digital cameras.4Love my photo printer!I absolutely love having this item to print my own photos. I love the picture quality, I honestly love this option so much more than having to go out to a store and have my photo's printed. My one little problem, is I have misplaced the photo paper feed tray. My printer which I bought in May 2012, is wonderful and it does still work, however, I can't print photos because I can't find my tray. Is it possible to order only the tray? I don't want to replace the entire printer, as I stated above it's an excellent quality photo printer.5
