Good Economy boating Binoculars in a Compact SizeAre these the greatest quality? Heck no. Are they a great value? Heck YES!These are just fine for most marine purposes. For the sake of this review, I dropped them in water to test the floatability, and yes, they really do float, at least enough to reach in and retrieve them. The bright color is easy to see.The compact size is a big plus, because chances are you (like me) will be using them where space is at a premium, be it in a boat, kayak, or backpack.5but with these binoculars you actally get great value for your moneyYou usually get whar you pay for, but with these binoculars you actally get great value for your money. In daylight the 30 mm oblective lens pulled in a nice bright clear, crisp image.I tested their water proofness and floatability by dropping them in the pool and they performed admirably. Dried them off and the image is as sharp as ever. These will be used on a pontoon boat and will be perfect for that application.5These binoculars are greatthe focus and distance is amazing. We bought them to use on our boat because you cant always see whats on land before you dock. These are very clear and focused. Also Love that they are floating in case they go in the water (which always happens). The yellow is a big plus also because you can find them easily in the boat and water! Would strongly recommend! And they come with holder/case which keeps them clean and unscratched.5Wet weather go toNeeded a decent pair for the boat, so far no fogging or problems. Pretty clear for the price range and they float.5Seemed Nice at the Price PointI was tempted by the little version, but opted for a couple pairs of these, since the reviewers felt the little ones were more in the toy category. I'm happy I upgraded. They have a nice feel, with decent glass optics. They do float, albeit not like a cork, but that's because they seem to be made of reasonably sturdy materials. The strap is pretty thin, but while it may not be particularly comfy, it seems sturdy, and that's all I can really ask.I did however return one set of these for replacement because the left side fogged up. I noticed the soft rubber around the eyepieces was hard and cracking, so I wondered if these were stored in a high heat, which may have compromised the seals. The replacement set was perfect, so I exchanged the second set as well, since it also had the cracking around the eyepiece rubber. As it turns out, while the replacement units did not have the cracking out of the box, that only lasted a couple of months. So it's not clear how well these will do long term.3Didnt do it for me!I bought 3 pairs of these for my crew to use while we were offshore fishing, they were cheap and supposedly waterproof. I was sick of paying 300.00 to fix my good binos every time they dropped them from on top of the wheelhouse I must say that i was very disappointed in these binos, they are no better then the 20.00 binos that our office rents to the whale watchers. On top of that, by no means are they waterproof! One pair got left on top of the wheelhouse for a night and the next morning there was so much moisture in them you couldn't even see out of them. Another thing that sucked, after only a week or so the eye cups became loose and would fall off quite often. By the time i got glue for them it was too late. They had lost both eye cups for one pair and the yellow cover on the other pair was already coming off ...The 3 pairs didn't even make it thru our season, but at least they were cheap. You get what you pay for!2They are ok, work but when focusing both eyes ...They are ok, work but when focusing both eyes do not focus together at same time.. I purchased two pair and both have the same issue.3She says these were perfect for the jobI bought these for my daughter who gives Kayak tours. She says these were perfect for the job. Binoculars are light weight, easy to wear around the neck. The binoculars are water proof and float which make them ideal for her job or for any water sport.. The magnification worked well for viewing marine life during the kayak tour. I actually returned a larger set of marine binoculars because the Barska's were better suited for this activity. The color make the binoculars easy to spot in the event they're dropped into the water. This is a satisfied purchase.5Good and reliable for the the moneyDoes the job very well for the money - much better than I had expected. No problems or issues with these. It is not "high grade" - there are better binoculars out there - however for the money they are first rate and do the job on the water very well (haven't dropped them in the water yet - assume they'll float!).5Collimation issues out of the boxI purchased this as a gift for an avid boater. He loved them until he looked through them and saw a double image. We tried to adjust them but concluded they were defective. Basically a collimation problem where the internal prisms were not lined up properly. Could have been damaged in shipping or possibly during manufacturing (This model is made in China... need I say more). I returned them and had a replacement shipped out to me in a few days. I was very surprised to find the new set had the same exact problem! I took the extra step to call Barska directly, just to make sure I wasn't missing something. Their Customer Service rep was great but did confirm that the collimation was off and that I should return them. He took down the model number and apologized for the problem. Would have loved for this to work out but 2 out of 2 is enough for me. I'll go with another brand on my 3rd try.1
