Customer Reviews

Great upgaded for the V.2 My Toshiba laptop originally had the V.2, and this seems to be an overall improvement. The color appears to be more vivid, and the circuit board on the back is batter protected. It installed with no issues and is working great. Some folks have complained that the viewing angle isn't wide enough on this monitor, and while that is true I don't remember the original being particularly great in that respect, so at least it does not seem to be a downgrade from the original.Packaging was great as well and there is no way that this thing would have been damaged by the shipping.Overall I'm quite happy with the purchase, and would buy it again if I needed to replace another monitor (hopefully I won't!) 4Great Screen The picture of the product helped me make this purchase. I disassembled my laptop and looked at the back of it to make sure the connector and chip looked similar. Also double-checked to make sure that model numbers were compatible with the previous screen. The seller shipped promptly and protected the screen in an anti-static bag surrounded by giant bubble bubble-wrap and two USPS flatrate shippers. Screen arrived intact and perfectly functioning. As long as nothing is wrong with your laptop's existing video cable, you can use the same one and you don't necessarily have to open up the body of the laptop. For my Compaq CQ62-209WM the hardest part about cracking open the screen was the front encasement. There are two screws, one in each of the lower corners, that cannot be easily removed. I ended up breaking the plastic around those screws which ended up causing a slight mis-alignment in the encasement when it was put back together. Other than those small screws in the lower corners, there was some adhesive behind the Compaq logo on the bottom of the screen. If you're like me, you can probably live with slightly mis-aligned plastic casing and a lack of an adhesive strip along the bottom of the screen so long as you can use your laptop again. Overall, this laptop cost me a grand total of $70 as I got it from previous owner with a defective screen for a cheap price. Installation difficulty, I'd say, was medium. Some slight issues may arise on installation of the screen if you don't put the "arms" in the 'closed' position to brace the screen and position the 'arms' to secure the screws. 5Cheaper than replacing the laptop! I somehow cracked the LCD of my college son's laptop while on vacation. Considered buying a new one but found there are loads of replacement LCD's out there. This was certainly cheaper than buying a new laptop! Came in quick and fit perfectly. I will say that this installation is probably not for the everyday computer user. I am an IT manager and have built my share of computers but have never really done much with laptop displays. Watched a couple of you tube videos and although meticulous, the replacement wasn't too bad. The screen looks great and should now outlast the usefulness of the laptop in todays ever changing tecnological advances. 5An easy replacement, saved money by doing it myself Looked on line, then to amazon. Read reviews of the product felt comfortable about what I read. Also watched you tube video on how to take apart monitor screen. I know it was the computer screen because I hooked a monitor I had to the separate VGR connector, my monitor work well. Ordered, AU Optronics screen, was here in two days, connected 40 pin connector, turned screen on before securing into frame work, all worked okay. On line info mentioned that V2 is okay to replace with V6 which really helped. 5Perfect fit... I ordered this screen to replaced a cracked one in a Gatetway laptop. First things first, take the time to remove the old screen and get the numbers off the back so that you can make sure the one you order is the exact match, as there can be multiple screen types for the same model of laptop.Secondly, these screens are delicate until they are mounted in the support frame, so be careful, I can see how it would be very easy to damage a new screen.Thirdly, be careful when removing the sticky tape that covers the connector, it's so sticky it's almost like clear duct tape, and it would be very easy to damage the connector beyond repair, so gently peel it back around the edges as you will be reusing it.And the last warning, when you power the unit up it very normal for the bios screens to look ok but the opening windows screen to look completely messed up, but don't panic! Just restart the laptop in "vga" mode, windows will detect the new screen, and all will be good. All in all, highly recommended. 5For anyone searching for a replacement B156XW02 V.2 You can use V.6 model in place of B156XW02 V.2 BOTTOM LEFT CONNECTOR.Everyone selling this item on Amazon, as well as the entire internet, states you MUST use a replacement screen with the EXACT SAME model number.WRONG!! This model actually works just fine. The seller sent me the V.6 instead of the V.2. I installed it instead of going through the hassle of returning it and it works perfectly. This is used for a minimum of 4 hours a day and has been for about a month.Hopefully, this review will save somebody the headache in searching for a replacement LCD. 5Great company and replacement screen. I ordered this screen for my acre laptop. I ordered the matte screen as a posed to the gloss screen that was originally on the laptop and feel it is much less eye strain when in use. Very easy to replace, just take your time and pay attention to what screws came from where and where each cable came from. Took me about 30 min start to finish taking my time.Great company to do business from and will order from them again. 5Just Like My Laptop's Original Screen, Great Price!! This product is a virtual replica of my laptop's original screen! There are no 'dead' pixels or other problems. The screen arrived in great condition, sealed and protected. All I did was plug in the connector and it worked! The only small 'defect' I noticed is that the screen itself is tilted ever-so-slightly to the right. This is barely noticable, and can probably be fixed by adjusting the metal holders on the laptop itself. Overall I am still very satisfied! To all of those afraid to D.I.Y.:I highly recommend replacing a screen like this yourself! Despite what others may say it takes 10-15 minutes max from start to finish. You can save $100 or more by not paying somebody else to install it! You don't need to know anything technical; just have a phillips-head screwdriver and a flathead screwdriver or small razor.A video of this process can be seen here: [...]Put simply:1) Remove the small rubber or plastic coverings around the edge of the screen.2) Unscrew the screws below those coverings.3) Gently pry apart the panel in front of the screen from the rear laptop lid.4) Remove the screws holding the screen in place.5) Remove the broken screen and disconnect the wire plugged into the screen.6) Plug the new screen into that wire. Do the opposite of Steps 4 to 1 and you're done! Hope this helps!(My laptop is a Gateway NV57) 5Laptop SAVED My DIL dropped the laptop I bought her and broke the screen. Waily Waily ~ She thought it was gone forever, but since I am a retired Computer Field Service Engineer she gave it to me to resuscitate. I found a video on You Tube showing how to easily and carefully make the replacement. I was able to remove the bad Screen; get the part number off the back; then order this from Amazon for "about" $60. It came well packed and as ordered. The install was again easy and the results are a perfectly running Laptop just like NEW. $60 is way cheaper than a new Laptop these days. I am very pleased. 5Poor viewing angles Installing in a HP G62, the screen works. At first it seems like it might even be an improvement over the old screen but within 15 seconds I knew that the viewing angles are very poor on this monitor. That means that you have to have the monitor angle set to your eyes extremely precisely and even adjusting in your chair will make it change in appearance. If you use your computer for photos, Picasa, or even playing videos on the internet, this is not ideal. All that said, I may be able to get some more miles out of my laptop before I have to get a new one.Manufacturers should really include the viewing angles in the specifications.I'm satisfied enough not to return the unit but I feel this important enough to mention so that consumers can make their own decision. No dead or stuck pixels that I can see.One final note, the original panel was an LG, so that might be the one to replace. The original on my G62 had another problem - very poor dynamic range so pick your poison. 3
