One bike per rack only, supplied screw is inadequate So I bought three of these to mount our mountain bikes on the garage wall. I used the supplied screw to place the racks in the wall studs.Shortly there after, 2 racks pulled out of the wall.I went to the hardware and got 3/8" x 3" lag screws, which fixed that problem. Now the biggest issue is that you can't really put 2 bikes of any size on the racks without really jamming them together and pedals get into gear mechanisms (not good!), etc. 2Short rack is short sighted..... Mom always told me "if you don't have something nice to say, keep your mouth closed". Well, I hope to say this nicely enough that she won't find cause to scold.....I have an Allen bike rack (for my car) and have used it for years. It's low-tech, it's solid and it gets the job done. With that in mind, it was not a difficult decision to buy the wall rack. I mounted it and went to put my two bikes on it and.... no-way...... My wife and I both have mountain bike types. The crossover between a road bike and an off-road bike. Standard issue handlebars will only allow one bike to be comfortably put on the rack. It is possible to cram both on if you are not concerned about damaging the shifting mechanism and such, but it's a horrible arrangement! I am disappointed as the solution is for Allen to simply add three inches to the bars. I'm trying to decide if I want to reward this short-sighted stingyness by buying another rack so that I can put one bike on each. Anyway, I still like my car rack....... 2Great for holding one bike, could be used for two in a pinch This rack is great for holding a single bike and probably can hold two bikes with some creative positioning. The mount seems sturdy and well designed for a static load of maybe 50-70 pounds. If you have two frequently used heavy bikes though, I would be concerned about the extra stress of lifting the bikes and dropping them on the pegs over and over again on the single screw.I was very impressed by the foam backing that came with this rack. This prevents damage to your drywall when tightening the screw. I remember seeing indentations after removing my tv from my old place. The difficulty with mounting two bikes has to do with the length of the arms, you'll need to overlap the pedals and/or handlebars to get them to fit. We ended up getting two of these and mounting them next to each other such that one bikes front wheel overlaps with the other's rear wheel. This gave us a sturdy solution for storing two bikes without taking up too much space in our apartment for a great price. With the second rack there was more resistance drilling into the wood (and I'm not sure I used the exact right size phillips bit) and the screw stripped very easily. I had to dremel in a slot in the head and finish tightening with a flat head.Pros:- single screw mounting for ease of installation and lack of wall damage- foam backing is a very nice touch, prevents compression damage to drywall- sturdy, should handle static load of two modern bicycles- folds up when not in useCons:- Fitting two bikes depends on style/size of bikes, likely requires creative positioning- Oh my the screw is horribly soft 4Installed in 15minutes -- great product. after too much research, I stuck with a Brand I know. Allen. my car bike rack is Allen and wanted to give it a try. we only have 2 bicycles and didn't want to go overboard with pricing. ordered on the 13th, delivered on the 15th and installed in 15 minutes. very easy. 1 long screw. find a wooden stud and screw it in. i didn't even bother put the rubber padding behind it. (will cut them in small pieces and use them for cabinet doors).the Allen Rack was able to fit both bicycles easy. here is a picture. 5Good, but needed some tweeking I bought two of these to hang mine and my husbands bicycles. We screwed them into the studs with the screw included but the rack wanted to wiggle side to side. Not something I was comfortable with while trying to lift a heavy bike onto it! Our solution was to cut a piece of 2x4 and screw it in directly under the original screw in the racks frame. This piece of wood prevents any shifting of the rack, and made it feel MUCH more sturdy. As previously stated by other reviewers, you would really have to work to get two bikes onto a rack (like a puzzle!) Easier just to put one per rack, plus I am short and husband is tall so I can reach my bike lower on the wall and his is higher up.I would have given it five stars if it had included its' own something or other to keep the rack from swaying. 4TIGHTLY Fits 2 Adult Bikes Was able to fit 2 mountain bikes (one men's Gary Fisher, one women's Liv Giant) on the wall mount, albeit very tight.Try different combinations and configurations to see why it works for you.In the end we decided to keep only one bike on the rack and one on the floor. It's not easy getting the second bike mounted on the rack. Too much time and energy wasted. Also, no relief between the two bikes. Literally, right up against each other. Pedals get tangled, cables/wired get crushed. It is ideal for one adult-sized bike. Should NOT be called "2-Bike Storage Rack".More like, "1-Bike (2-Bike if you're lucky) Storage Bike".However, that being said, you may be able to fit 2 adult-sized bikes better if you have exposed studs (like a garage with no drywall). This may give you 3.5" (if you have 2x4 studs) of depth behind the wall mount, allowing some of your bike handle bar to be set between the studs. Hope you can visualize that. The one screw that comes with the mount is made a pretty bad metal. If you're not very careful, you may strip the head if you drill too quickly. I ended up just using my own screw.Overall, sturdy wall mount, simple to use and mount on wall. Has not damaged bikes in anyway...yet. 3AFFORDABLE, FAST DELIVERY, WORKS & LOOKS GREAT! Works great! Single wood screw to mount. Purchased two mounts. Note: the wood screw supplied snapped in half when I tried to tighten it down with an electric drill and screw bit. Had to buy another wood screw at Ace's hardware for 25 cents. No biggy, but the wood screw supplied must have been of cheap quality. When screwing down the mount, make sure you don't over tighten the screw like I did. Eased off the trigger and slowly screw the mount in nearing the final turn of the screw!!!! 2nd note: It can store two bicycles, but just notice that the triangle (body) on your bicycles are large enough to clear over the mounting bars. I have four bikes but was only able to clear my mountain bike with my son's Bmx 20" bike, and my son's older black 20" bmx. The third bmx bike was a cheapo purchased at Walmart and had a funky design where the top bar was unusually thick, causing the inside clearance of the triangle to be unusually tight. Needless to say it would not clear over the mounting bars. I do not blame this on the mount but solely on the characteristics of the cheap/unusual design (aesthetic design) of the bmx. When storing two bicycles on the mount, you will notice that the the front tires might or will be slightly turned as to make room for the second bike (with two bikes the handle bars will eventually touch the wall so angling the front wheel helps). You can take note on the picture posted on Allen's website Wall Mount 201B. I gave this review 5stars because at the end of the day, the bikes look Wickedly Sick on my garage wall!!! I have the mounts stacked and have a skateboard rack sharing the other side of the wall!!!! Works great and already have many complimants!! Purchased this product because I was impressed with the 2-bike tow/hitch mount made by Allen that I purchased for my 4Runner. That also was competitively priced vs other name brands like Hollywood,Thule,Yamiko, etc. without breaking the wallet. Still a big fan of Thule and Yamiko!!!! Just had to penny pinch with the hitch bike mount! By the way...hated the Bell mounts. Jus sayin. 5THOUGHT ABOUT MAKING MY OWN WALL RACK BUT THIS RACK IS MOST COST/TIME EFFECTIVE This is a nice wall rack for your bike. At this price point it doesn't make sense to try to build one yourself. I love it for one bike, for two bikes I imagine it would be a bit tight. Very easy to hang with a single screw into a wall stud. The only thing that didn't work well for me were the provided self adhesive foam strips. I think they are meant to be dual purpose. (1) To protect your wall (2) To keep the wall rack from swinging (moving) about the single hanging screw which it will do because bikes are usually heavier at the rear. In my case they were a FAIL after 2 days because my garage gets to 115F here in Nevada so I removed then and added a simple clip and wall anchor to keep the rack at the angle I wanted. You may not care that the rack "swings" a bit due to uneven bike weight....it still works just fine. 5I use it for a 50lb electric bike I had to drill a hole in the folding part and use an extra screw because it moves around too much while tryingto put my bike on this or while trying to remove it. I have it installed in 2 X 4 stud so it seems sturdy enough.I can't fold it because of the extra screw that I installed, but I felt that sacrifice was worth it for the extrastability. Holds a beach cruiser that can't easily be held by other style work stands. 4Nice rack, but low quality mounting screw Bike rack itself seems solid, nicely made, sturdy. Easy to install. Holds up two full-size bikes with the right positioning (alternate front-wheel-to-back-wheel on the two bikes). One star deducted because the included mounting screw was poor quality and stripped far too easily. I swapped it out for another, better quality screw. This is an unfortunate trend with a lot of wall-mount products: cheap out on the mounting hardware.Still, if you don't mind bringing your own screw, I'd recommend this bike rack. 4
