Customer Reviews

Cheap, loud and squishy keysI have used several keyboards from Adesso and have one at work (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006H4Y70W/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) which I have gotten used to the key layout. So I am looking for one to round out my home office, and wanted to get matching key layouts. Only problem... this older style is no longer available. After several other tries on various keyboards with different key arrangements (surprised at how difficult it is to find a trackball keyboard with a dedicated page up/down and insert deletes keys), I thought I would give this one a try. What a hunk of JUNK. On top of just looking cheap, it is loud, has terrible squishy key action and they size of the keys are a bit smaller. This is not an inexpensive keyboard? Adesso, what happened? Please bring back the older model, it was night and day better.1I have a room divider with my home office on ...I have a room divider with my home office on one side, and TV/entertainment center on the other. Have my TV hooked up to my computer on the other side of the room divider, and this keyboard makes browsing the web on the TV convenient.5Decent keyboard, horrible receiverKeyboard and trackball worked great and had reassuring build quality for its price. The lack of a scrollwheel and NumLock indicator light were the only faults I found with the layout, and I didn't feel safe trying to remove the keycaps for regular cleaning. However, reception would randomly drop from even less than 5feet depending on the angle. And I'm not talking about any wide angles, the thing was really finicky about how it was oriented relative to the receiver.Speaking of the receiver, the length and build quality of the receiver is terrible. I had it plugged into the front panel of my HTPC (not rear to mitigate the reception issues) and it snapped in half when my cat bumped into it. Since it's not Bluetooth, RIP keyboard.2Extremely robust keyboardFinally a wireless keyboard that is easy to navigate. My company issues this same keyboard but in a wired version. I love the keyboard but I go through a few every years because the cords will eventually short out. I tried a couple of wireless keyboards with glide pads but I found myself accidentally sliding folders into other folders--well that's a disaster waiting to happen. (It really comes downs to what you are use to, glide pads or trackballs.)If you are looking for a quality keyboard with a trackball controlled mouse, you will want to try this one. I've been using this same keyboard (wired version) for years and it holds up excellent. It lives in a hot car, gets dropped at customer sites, and gets plenty of use daily. One thing I'd like to see improved is a more secure storage slot for the receiver. The receiver is magnetic and just kind of sticks in a small recessed area on the back. You will have to be careful because it won't take much for it to fall out.5Great little keyboardmy last little Adesso keyboard lasted me about 3 years until the ctrl key stopped working. it is a loud keyboard ill note that especially the new models out (slimtouch 3100) i also used it for gaming which says something. but what i noticed about these new ones is the reciever isnt nearly as good as the last one, well for me atleast, ill update when i put it to the test but so far the day i got it i noticed some differences. Also it seemed a little difficult to get the reciever to acknowledge the keyboard and it not that hard. but i will change this review soon like a said after a week or so.4I like them very much but I can only give 4 ...I have had two of these Adesso wireless mini keyboards and have just ordered a third. I like them very much but I can only give 4 stars. The reason? The legs on the bottom will snap after about a year. Otherwise, the keyboard works perfectly and could have a long, long useful life. I need the slight elevation that the legs provide, however. Once they snap, there is no way to repair them, unless the manufacturer would be willing to send a new one. I probably should try that! Otherwise, very good product. Very compact. No 10-key panel so only about 14 inches wide. Keys are very response. I don't use the trackball so I can't make a judgment about that feature.4Wireless Mini KeyboardI previously had an Adesso Mini Keyboard that was not wireless. When that started to malfunction, I bought this wireless version. First of all, not having all the extra unwanted and unnecessary keys to the right of the keyboard is absolutely wonderful because it gives me more space to move my mouse without reaching out. This wireless version gives me the option of placing the keyboard anywhere within range of my PC, whereas the wire model restricted me because of the cord. The only thing I find a bit annoying about this new wireless version, and it's probably only until I get the "feel" of it, is that the keys are very sensitive and I sometimes end up typing incorrect letters. But I would never go back to a standard keyboard after having used this mini keyboard -- I even have a mini-keyhboard at work!5so good. If feels rather sturdyhave only owned for a couple of weeks now. So far, so good. If feels rather sturdy. Button placement is fine, if you are used to wireless keyboards like this. Trackball operation is smooth, and doesn't feel like it will break anytime soon. I'm usually 20-30 feet away from my receiver, and haven't had any trouble with reception. If I had to list any minus's, it's that this keyboard is fairly bare bones. There is no scroll wheel, or trigger buttons, or anything like t hat. I'm rather used to not having those, so not to big of an issue.biggest plus is that this has a track ball, and not a track pad, like many of the newer keyboards. That's a big plus in my book.I've been trying to replace an older keyboard for my htpc (old one is 5+years old, and doesn't track as smoothly as it used to), and this is the first keyboard I've used that still felt like I'd get a lot of life out of it, after owning it for 2 weeks. If you are looking for a wireless keyboard with a track ball, this is just about your only option5Originally: Mostly OK, but released with a silly defectThe pictures of the product on Amazon differ from what I received in two ways:1) The keyboard in the picture does not have this:Top center above the keys it says in pseudo-cursive "Slim Touch". This is neither here nor there, and a matter or personal preference you have no control over. My point is merely to identify which one has the next problem.2) The keycap for the ":" over the ";" is MISMARKED as "." over ";".Clearly this has been done correctly in the revision shown on Amazon, but this one is just plain wrong.I had reported this to Adesso and they acknowledged that I had an apparent gripe, but they never got back to me, and I am somewhat disappointed.Otherwise it is adequate and I use it on a machine where space is at a premium but it is a low-volume system essentially used as a media-file collection machine [but not where the files are stored; I have enough machines on my home network to part out what does what.]A complaint not about the product, but about bad answers to questions. This keyboard is NOT BLUETOOTH! It is RF wireless and uses a particular dongle. If you lose the dongle, you are SOL apparently, as indicated by a posted answer.Although I expect to not use it, I am disappointed that customer service apparently is not interested on this issue as well [the answer writer apparently didn't care to elaborate, but it is clear the situation didn't turn out well.]Thus, I am calling into question some "sore points" in overall quality of product and subsequent support.Otherwise it is fine for the purpose, and battery life is quite good.Note to all users: If you are complaining about RF reception as the root cause of poor performance, please be advised that it may not be your hardware, but rather your location. Most of the cordless phones have abandoned the too-close adjacent frequencies, but if there is a 2.x GHz cordless phone physically fairly close, you cannot get this product to EVER work, and if you are dealing with a neighbor who refuses to deal with the reality that they bought a product that is hurting you [despite it not being illegal to own and use one] blame the FCC for creating this needless nightmare. Also, some same-frequency routers are equally plagued. This keyboard is stuck with these victimizable frequencies; they should know better and just use the higher wireless band in the 5.x GHz range; they can't be affected by these "dangerous" phones. [Note: I have one, so I know. But I just folded down the phone bases' antenna; it is far enough away to not be a problem and I can still use the phone in hand for at least 10 feet away which is OK.Addesso: If you are reading this, perhaps you will finally act on this clearly workmanship issue. I know it's not much, but please send a replacement with some simple instructions on how to change it out. I am not inept and have taken apart many keyboards before and not broken any [including repairing the innards of laptop keys].3Keyboard dying prematurelyAfter 6 months of minimum use on my living room home theater system, the trackball has become unusable... erratic and extremely slow. It is used in a clean environment and the keyboard was never dropped or otherwise abused. After reading other reviews here and on other sites, I realize I wasted my money. Just as well as it's an ergonomically challenged keyboard anyway. It's clumsy and difficult to move around within living room seating area as there are no handles nor non-key space in order to grab it. And it requires two-hands to operate as there's no buttons on the right side, near the trackball.1
