Customer Reviews

Beautiful acrylic but no sonic improvements and maybe some improvement in anti static propertiesJust about a month into my record player- the oft purchased audio-technica lp120xusb new version where they cut out a lot of the features but also fixed some issues. I am very happy with the player but wanted to replace the felt mat came with it. It often stuck to the bottom of my records when I lift the record up changing sides. The felt mat took out dust while also leaving a lot of dust. I didn t buy this for the sonic improvements touted. I bought this to cut down the static.I received the item in good time. The acrylic platter came in a inner sleeve and also a cardboard outer sleeve. The mat itself came to me in perfect condition. Transparent orange beautiful acrylic. On the the side facing the top has a milled translucent cut out for the label for vinyl to acrylic contact. Very flat surface unfortunately some or many records have warp issues. On the side which makes contact to your turntable platter is smooth - no cut outs. I was surprised to feel the clear and smooth surface having so much friction. That is I thought it would slip while on the turntable or the vinyl would slip when resting on the mat. That is not the case. It provided good friction as adhesion to stay in place as the platter was spinning. I wish they would make upgrade platters for the lp120 to swap out in this orange. But I m not sure if the motor can withstand the weight of an all plexiglass platter.Although the platter itself is beautiful and designed in the USA it was manufactured outside prob in China. Which I think then the price of 22 dollars is a bit pricey. I think it should land about 16-18 dollars. After 3 days of usage - I didn t feel it cut down on static or made any sonic improvements- I didn t do an a/b rest but am fairly familiar with the sonic signature of my set up (lp120xusb, Yamaha r-n803 using its phono input, elac unifi ub5 bookshelf). Although I didn t notice improvements it also did not make it worse. As far as static was concerned I didn t notice any marked improvements. Maybe it was better just a tad better I m not sure. Maybe. it didn t stick to my record when lifting. I still had static when I put the record and when I take off the record. The good thing is - it s easy to clean/wipe off. But I don t think it did much for reducIng or eliminating static. So final verdict is. While it has a cool factor I gained nothIng in sonic performance or marked improvements with its supposed anti static features.I think I ll keep it because it s orange and it s easy to clean off.2Amazing!!!I switched from a cork mat to this and the sound difference is noticeable!!! Not only does it look fantastic but it is highly functional!!! I love how the label area is recessed; the records fit snug!!! Do yourself a favor and buy this!!! Looks and function!!!5Really lights up the turntable.Glows like its powered! Still looking for a rubber, cork and leather mat to compare it to but it's a step up from the OEM foam type mat that came with my player. For the price and look its well worth it.5plunged and I feel fine!I always scoffed at turntable accessories seen on Facebook or advertised on Amazon. I would mutter, "the Emperor's clothes, the Emperor's clothes." What difference could those doodads make? Well, first I gave the weighted spindle a try (blanking on its proper name, it tamps record down as it spins to enhance stylus contact). Then I gave the Hudson acrylic turntable mat a shot. Used in tandem, they bump up overall quality of sound especially on bottom end. The "floor" sounds more substantial. A pleasant surprise! For bonus, Hudson orange-color slipmat gives the clear glass table on my Rega Planar 3 table's visual appeal. Fears of "slippage" were unfounded. Sometimes having a go at new things pays off.5Very satisfied with my purchaseAbout the same quality/craftsmanship as other acrylic turntable mats I've purchased (mostly gloss black models). This amber one is about the diameter of a standard LP, but "up to" the lead-in grooves (which hang off the edge a just enough to let the vinyl lay flat.)I have two stacked on top of each other to enhance the richness of the sound. Very satisfied with my purchase.4Just looks really cool, thats it.This mat looks really, really cool. It turns a plain turntable into something futuristic. Here's the issue though, the records spin on it. If you put a clear record on the mat, you can see that records don't "hook up". The mat spins under the record. Also, it doesn't "glow", its just a piece of fiberoptic plexiglas. To get it to glow, you have to shine a light through it, or catch it at just the right angle. Finally, the mat is a slightly smaller diameter than most records, so you don't see it anyway when the record plays. My recommendation is to buy this, keep it on your turntable to make it look cool, but then remove it before you play a record.3Looks amazing..sounds good..not a dust magnet.Very good replacement for any felt mat,I just got the AT120x and this is a great improvement to add..aslo helps adjust anti skate..obviously it was not correct until I used this mat..also looks great with the red light..I bought the orange one so the light makes it look red as in the pictures..cant beat the price..well made, records don't stick to it like the felt mat, maybe because of the weight idk?..very happy anyways.5Looks amazingIt looks super cool. It really glows, event with moderate light. I cannot say that it enhanced the sound quality, but it did not hurt as long as I left the factory rubber mat in place under it. For anyone it matters to, I am using this with a vintage JVC JL-A40 turntable. Placing it directly on the platter seemed to have an adverse affect on the sound quality. It is thinner than the rubber mat on this model, which could be leading to the poor sound quality without the rubber mat. At any rate, with the mat in place, it sounds just as good as before but now looks way cooler.5Looks good, sounds goodI get tons of compliments on how good this platter looks on my turntable, the orange really pops and makes for a unique look. I replaced my stock turntable mat with this and definitely noticed an audible difference. Would highly recommend for someone looking for an upgrade over a standard slip mat.5Lights out !!This is a cool mat....like the way it looks with the lights out. This is also great for using the other side for setting anti skate. The weight for my Grado is 1.5 and I was told once set-up, is to set anti skate the same.Tested it on this and it worked and stayed in one place.I would recommend this to others looking for a turntable mat.I tried a cork mat and it just keep sticking to my new 180/200 gram records, wast of money.I used the zerostat on the mat and on all new albums and it works great !5
