Customer Reviews

Noobs gone wild5 stars! Sounds great compared to all the sound bars I ve used for fractions of a price. I m a noob at home audio. I installed these where pop in light buckets were, had to open up the holes a small bit. Ran the wire through the recessed outlet. Hooked up to the tv via a homemade 3.5 jack converter and it was loud enough to hear, but terrible over all. Purchased a tiny amp on amazon for 30 bucks and now it sounds like a theater in my bedroom.5Will buy next time I need some.Built these into my new home addition ceiling. Sound is great, I paired them with a bluetooth wall plate. I made plywood boxes in the ceiling before I hung the drywall. The max the holding tabs will extend would be about 1 & 1/2 ". So your ceiling/box thickness should not exceed that. You could also mount directly in the drywall if you're retrofitting them.5Give Pyle a shot. I think you'll be pleasantly suprisedOk maybe Pyle isn't the audiophile choice. But if you want decent sounding speakers at a rediculous LY low price. You can't go wrong with Pyle. I think they're definitly given a bad rap. Installed in out office ceiling and these sound really good. Purchased Open box for like 20$ they're worth way more than that. I don't have one complaint5sound great, good value.Nice sounding speaker. Bought these not so much to install in a ceiling but as a full range replacement in a nutone home sound system. thought I would simply remove speaker from ceiling mount and install in speaker box. Wrong. My bad for not checking with seller first. Speaker and ceiling mount all in one piece. So needed to hand trim off ceiling mount, voiding any warranty they may have had I am sure. But it all worked out after a few hours of careful cutting. All in all worth the effort. Hard to find full range 10 inch speaker. Happy.5Plastic, Plastic Everywhere: Cheaply Made, Disappointing Sound QualityThis speaker got great reviews but there is very little to love about it. I am sad that my experience was bad, and now I have two empty 9.5" holes in my home theater wall to show for my efforts, since these are going back.Construction everything is made of plastic. I'm not against plastic, but this is about as cheaply made as can be, for a couple of reasons:One of the four clamps, which secure the speakers to the wall, broke. On both speakers. The screw didn't strip the speaker frame collapsed where the screw hole was. I was able to secure the speakers with just three clamps, but I have very little faith that these speakers can be removed and reinstalled (for instance to repaint the wall) without a total failure of the attaching clamps. There is nothing about the construction of these speakers that feels well made. If you could hold these speakers before you bought them I'd bet you wouldn't buy them. The grills are cheaply made. The speakers come with round and square grills (nice a selling point!) but they are made of plastic, and very thin plastic at that. After installing the speakers (I used the square grills) my kid came in and of course wanted to touch. The grill flexed and POP! - off they came. They are flimsy and will not provide protection if you are putting them in an area where they might get bumped or brushed against.Sound: Alas, if these speakers sounded great, then I would redeem them in my review. But they don't. For 8" speakers, these lack bass. If you are mounting them in a wall, which essentially will act as a closed-back speaker cabinet, then I expect the bass to be improved. But if you're planning to mount these in a ceiling or anywhere else with an open back, don't expect good frequency response. (My Bluetooth Jambox mini speaker has a more well-rounded sound.) I had not planned to use a sub-woofer in my application, but when I added one, the sound rounded out nicely. In other words, plan to use a sub if you're going to listen to music or TV, if after reading this review you still have your heart set on these speakers. I hate to be a hater, and I really wanted to love, or at least like these speakers at this price point. But if you're going through the trouble of cutting holes in your walls or ceiling, that's a big commitment, and I recommend spending extra for better quality and more durable grills.1Surprisingly good!I picked up 3 pairs of these for an office install. It's an accounting firm and the owners just wanted some music out in the hallways and reception area to cover any potential conversations going on in the individual offices. Extremely easy to mount in a suspended ceiling. I hooked them up to a Denon AVRS530BT with each pair hooked to R/L/C. I used my phone a s a BT source and was really surprised these cheap drivers produced a fairly quality sound. Fair amount of bass, no distortion, and clarity I was not expecting. I'd happily use these for elevated speakers in an Atmos setup, as opposed to spending a lot more on "bouncing" speakers that reflect the sound.5Great buy.Very happy with the sound from these. Had to take away one star because the square grills were a real pain to snap on and didn't feel as secure as the round ones. Didn't want these on the ceiling to ultimately pop off and deal with dragging the ladder back out.Tried these to compare against the dozen PDIC61RC which I recently installed in my house. The PDIC61RC uses the metal grill which I found harder to paint and didn't look as nice as the PDIC66 model (when painted). Sound quality was comparable but the rooms which had the PDIC66's seemed to handle louder volume levels better. That may just be me however. These are part of the whole-house audio installed in every room to go with our new OnQ Lagrand system. These (both models) are decent wide range speakers at modest sound levels. Don't expect a lot of bass and won't take too much power but that wasn't what I needed. Could possibly use these for surround sound speakers but I wouldn't attempt for primary speakers. Highly recommend these for small rooms where bass isn't needed.4VERY disappointedUPDATE 9/2/17: Since i originally contacted Pyle on June 24th i have yet to have any resolution regarding the speaker grills. The ones i received are warped and wouldnt stay attached to the speaker. I spoke with Joe in the parts dept who was helpful and explained the delay is with the supply company. Well, im into my 2nd month and its very apparent, aside from Joe, that Pyle doesnt give a crap about their customers!!! I totally would NOT recommend Pyle to anyone. I would give zero stars if I could.VERY FRUSTRATED!!!! I purchased the 6.5" Pyle speakers. It fits the existing opening perfectly. However, the square cover does not stay on the speaker. It keeps popping off. VERY disappointed.1Plastic cheap grill, no real crossover network, unbalance high overwhelming middle and low range music. From website the speaker pictures look good, but didn't show the flaws of the product, let me write in details below.1) It is a plastic grill, easy to bend, vibrate when playing hard. The grill has the hole pattern looking very cheap and I won't put those in my house.2) There is no crossover network except a resister, the speaker are tuned in very high pitch sound and overwhelming any balance of the music in middle and lower range, at beginning it is sharp but after 10 min you will have a headache.I have attached couple of pictures of the speakers, take a look at the plastic grill bending, the not nice looking hole pattern and a resister crossover.2A great, unobtrusive speaker.Installation was relatively easy. After finding a location between joists in the ceiling, drew the circle with the included template. Used a knife to start a hole, then used a small drywall saw to cut the hole for the speaker, just be patient and follow the line, cutting just outside the line. I had my spouse with the vacuum cleaner hose close to where I was cutting to lessen the dust blowing everywhere. I then inserted the speaker into the hole to make sure it fit snug; I used a knife to scrape a little of the drywall to make it fit just right. I then connected the wires to the speaker, and inserted the speaker back into the drywall and with a No.2 Phillips, screwed the speaker in place, while holding the speaker with the other hand. I then cleaned the speaker with a moist cloth, specially plastic around it, because of the dust in my hand. The plastic grilles just snapped into place. I turned the receiver on, and I found the sound loud, with OK bass and good treble. Voice was clear. Now, the sound was filling, but lacked bass for my taste, but because the speaker is not installed in a well designed speaker enclosure, but rather in the ceiling with an attic, it is not the perfect solution for booming bass. One thing I did noticed, was that the speaker grill vibrated with the beat of the music, so I put a small piece of foam between the tweeter and the grill. It removed the vibrations, and did not affect the high frequencies. Mine did not come with the glue for the grills. I liked the quality of the speaker, its sound, and I believe they are a great value.4
