Viewing angle sufficient. Great touchscreen. Sticky tabs suck. Like others be said, the little tabs that would allow you you slide the screen in and out came off too quickly, about 2 weeks, and I had only removed the screen once in that time. I used the longer semi-permament sticky strips and they've been on a month with no issues. The viewing angle is sufficient in my opinion, works well to keep your airplane neighbor from reading your documents. The touchscreen is flawless so I'm happy with that. In summary it's good, not the best ever, but worth the money. I'm using it on a Lenovo Yoga 12. 4Not good for touch screen, Applicators are not sticky I ordered this privacy screen for my graduate school program for my Dell Inspiron 13 series computer. While, it gets the job done during my exams, the sticky applicators for the screen don't work. The stick-on slides are also not sticky, and the screen doesn't fit the full length of my computer's screen. I gave this product 2 stars, because while the sticky things don't work, I was lucky enough that the privacy screen itself clings to the screen of my computer. Also, it clings to the screen, but there are a TON of bubbles in the screen that you can't smooth out. My computer is also a touch screen, and the privacy screen severely inhibits the use of the touch screen. I only have to use it for exams, so HOPEFULLY it won't fall apart with me taking it on and off after my exams. 2It does the job, but touch screen users should think twice I want to comment on effectiveness first. The reason this only gets two stars is explained later. To be satisfied, it's important to have the right expectations going in. I think all of us hope for a polarized filter that blacks out the screen for someone sitting next to us, but that's just not what filters can accomplish in 2016 (that I know of - reply with a link to a better product if there's one that is significantly better). Here's what you can expect for privacy - with the filter on my screen (Yoga 900) and the computer set on the airplane seat tray, it will be very hard at __40% brightness__ for another coach passenger to distinguish content details without deliberately getting into your space. At 100% brightness, it will do little for you.If you're in first class, where the passenger is both further away and at a wider angle to the screen, the effect is even greater, allowing you to increase screen brightness and preserve the same level of privacy. The effectiveness of the filter is substantially impacted by the brightness of your screen.People directly behind you, whether or not on an airplane, will be able to see things just fine.So does it work? Sure, it does what it does, which is better than no filter at all if you're working on sensitive information. It doesn't mean you can stop caring about the guy next to you or behind you. If you want to work on private information on the airplane, your best bet is to sit in front of a bulkhead in a window seat.If that were all, I would have given it four stars. Keep reading though.Installation - pay attention to instructions and you'll achieve the expected results. Make sure adhesive strips go on filter first, not your screen. Wash your hands first and use the microfiber cleaner. No complaints there.Touch screen compatibility - yeah, touch still works fine functionally, but..The BAD - because of the adhesive strips, the filter is not sealed to the screen (as an InvisibleShield screen protector for your iPhone would be). This is okay until you start touching your screen, whereupon you'll start getting mottled greys and whites, as air gaps are removed between the screen and filter where you touch. Because the adhesive keeps a path in for air, you'll never achieve anything close to a consistent look again, condemning you to staring at blotchy grey bubbles, presumably until you take the filter off, reset it to the screen and remember not to touch it.Mine also came with adhesive tabs to mount on the laptop screen, presumably allowing it to be removed easily at the cost of aesthetics, but also not putting any barrier between the screen and the filter. I tried this and still have the same splotchy results. This may clear up in a few hours but I'm not holding my breath. The attached photo demonstrates what I'm talking about. You may think you can put up with it for about five minutes, but you'll go nuts at minute six.Because of this, I wouldn't recommend the filter to 2-in-1 or tablet users. Since it relies on the adhesive and clean surfaces, it's not practical to keep it in your bag and use it just when you need it. It's really designed to stay on, and if you touch that screen, you'll only suffer so long before taking it back off.If you just have a normal laptop where you have no cause to touch the screen (and remember not to), it would work fine. 2This is a MUSTWorking in IT Security and traveling via Metra train... I cannot sing the praises of these enough. Please if you do anything on a laptop in public, if it be a coffee shop or train, or even in office then spend the money and get one of these. We call it shoulder surfing, but its easier than anything to get someones information as they sit there any type it away not paying attention to who is around them. Your Personal Identifiable Information is worth more than gold, from your facebook or instagram to your work email address and who you just emailed. This one did not fit the device I needed it for, but I have one for every single laptop I have... which is too many. BTW 3M make one for the Ultrawide 17in Asus ROG please and thank you. <35They're a heck of a lot better to use than the double sided tape in most ...As people mentioned, it's a bit too expensive for what it actually *is* - in essence, a piece of plastic. However, since this piece of plastic can help deter or confuse people who are trying to sneak a peek into what you're doing or typing with your laptop, it's worth it.There are a few things to keep in mind when purchasing and using this filter:1. Be sure to affix the pull tabs to your laptop's screen. They're a heck of a lot better to use than the double sided tape in most instances. If you threw yours out, not knowing what they were, you can ask 3M for replacements for free.2. If you have a matte screen (one that doesn't reflect), your screen will become glossy once you attach this.3. This filter will be less effective if you have someone looking directly behind you, as well as in a low light enviornment. This filter works by reflecting light from nearby sources (such as the sun, ambient, or overhead lighting). If there is low light, the screen will appear darker for people outside of the viewing angle, but they will still be able to see what you are doing.4Loving everything about this privacy screen I read many, many reviews about privacy screens before buying this one, and the choice was right! I've never had one before but have seen others and thought they were dark and bulky. This gold version gives you a nice crisp view, and the adhesive strips make the installation sleek and seamless. I had hesitated in getting a screen because I didn't like the look of the tabs attached to the sides of the laptop. This is nice enough that I am just leaving it on. It is a perfect fit for my Dell XPS13. [For privacy screen GF133W9B] 5Perfect fit for my Lenovo T450sPerfect fit for my Lenovo T450s. I use it with the gold side up and it works great. I does significantly cut down on the overall brightness of the screen so I find myself taking it off whenever I'm not using my computer in public. So to that end I wish that it was shipped with some type of scratch resistant sleeve that I can place it in whenever I take it out. As others have pointed out, tt does have the product ID stamped into the top of the filter but that is only noticeable on light colored backgrounds and really isn't a distraction.Another point regarding my the fit on my lenovo - Even before using the filter my screen would pick up markings from the routine finger oils that are on the keyboard whenever my laptop is closed. Which means that the keyboard is in contact with the screen when the laptop is closed. With the filter being about 1mm think, now the filter is picking up those markings whenever I close the computer with the filter on. I've been cleaning the filter using eyeglass cleaners and it seems to be fine, but only time will tell if the contact with the keyboard will cause permanent damage to the filter.Installation tip - I use the plastic tabs around the frame of my screen so I can slide the protector in and out whenever I want. Make sure that the tabs are set back enough so that all the adhesive is well on the frame. I have just a tiny bit of adhesive exposed and it sticks to the filter making it more difficult to put in and out.4Awesome Product Works great, you can only see the screen from directly in front. even a few degrees to the side and you just see a reflection. It does take some time to get use to viewing through as it does dim the screen a little bit, but not enough to cause any major issues.Pro:Works. 100% works, no more shoulder surfers on airplanes etc.high quality material no really bad glare like with some privacy screens (looks cool too like a space visor!)Multiple viewing angles but only directly in front (think tilting screen forward and backward), side it side is a complete block out!Easy to take on and off for sharing your screen with others if required.Con:The little sticky rails to attach it are kind of hokey but they seem to work. (I noticed them at first but now they melt into the side screen with out issue)Doesn't come with any sort of cover or protector, and its very thin, so I am concerned if I want to remove it for any length of time it may get scratched, and or bent. when traveling I leave it on my screen and place a piece of paper over my keys to keep it from touching my keys and getting marked up (more of a laptop issue than a product issue but worth mentioning). The lack of protector for it is the only reason I gave it one less star. 4NOT gold AT ALL. It's DARK CHARCOAL GRAY & twice the price of other DARK GRAY privacy screensNot the TINIEST bit gold in color. I returned this one and ordered a screen from a different company,"Vintez" and it's BEAUTIFUL and GOLD, UNLIKE 3M's, and barely half as expensive:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GRC4N15/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 As to this 3M, NOT-GOLD screen: I looked at angles from the left, the right, above, with dark and bright screens, with white and dark backgrounds on the screen. IT'S NOT GOLD. It's NOT. There is the tiniest bit of irridescence to the DARK CHARCOAL GRAY color if you wiggle it. B.f.d. It's NOT gold...it's dark charcoal gray....just like the DARK GRAY privacy screens you can buy from other companies instead of 3M for half the price.P.S.: The 3M package did absolutely, positively say that a GOLD screen filter was enclosed.1A great gold privacy filter that works superbly for me. I own two..I wasn't sure what to expect when I bought this privacy filter, but this thing it's worth its weight in "gold" (I have the Gold version). I primarily use it on planes and fellow passengers sitting next to me cannot see what is on my screen. Why there are so many blind people on my flights, I don't know. All jokes aside, my fellow passengers (seated next to me) cannot see what is on my screen unless they lean over into my personal space. And I'm not about to have that. And at almost any angle (other than looking at the screen head-on), it becomes very difficult to view the screen. All one sees is goooold.I appreciate this 3M privacy filter so much, that I bought it's 14 inch sibling as well. The only issues I have are 1) slight delamination in one corner of the filter, 2) the system 3M has for attaching the filter to my screen.Issue 1: For me, the delamination was solved easily by dripping a bit of super glue in between the layers (that were coming apart) and squeezing together for about 5 seconds. At least for me, there was no loss of clarity in that tiny section of the privacy filter.Issue 2: In my opinion, the system 3M provides for attaching the privacy filter to the screen needs to be improved. The tabs they provide come over the screen slightly. While it does not impede my work, initially it was annoying until I got used to it. Now I don't notice it.A possible solution for my 2nd issue above could be the following - full disclosure, I have not tried this - I could order a size up and then trim the filter so it fits over the screen and onto my laptop's bezel. And then I could just use clear scotch tape to attach the edge of the privacy filter to the bezel and not the side of the screen. This way no tape (or tabs) would be over any part of the screen. This is another great product from 3M. In my experience, I found that it pays to pay a little bit more and go with 3M. I have purchased all sorts of products from this brand over the years, and for whatever reason, in my experience every single product was more effective at what it's supposed to do then competitor brands. I'm a fan.5Size Matters. This does a good job at blocking those around you from seeing your screen. I do, however, not like that there's a half-moon of visible screen for the purposes of removal. This is annoying to me. I'm sure I could have chosen a bigger size as I do have edge to edge glass on my laptop, but I went by the correct aspect ratio and size of my screen. It fits the actual screen part of the glass flawlessly. But I don't like seeing the sliver of uncovered screen. If you plan on getting this, do try to note the actual dimensions of the product in case you don't want this situation. This knowledge, however, will do you no good if you have a traditional screen within a frame. My touch screen still works with this on but leaves slight bubbles because the adhesive raises it off the glass ever so slightly. So, in short, if you're OCD about things, go big or go home and tape that filter down some other way if you have a touch screen. 4I dig the color and the viewing is great. not cloudy or distorted I dig the color and the viewing is great. not cloudy or distorted. the only gripes I have are 1) having an exact screen fitment isn't ideal for laptops that are touch screen. why? because the sticky tabs that hold the protector are too close to the edge so they get in the way and take up screen real estate. I recommend getting a protector that is a bit larger than the actual screen to accommodate this. 2) the tabs that stick to the laptop screen that hold the projector aren't very strong and (at least in my case) have been falling off. especially when the laptop is in cold weather (ie left in the car over night). (see pictures). other than that, it's great.... buuut a little pricey imo. I get its 3M so they can charge a premium for the name. 4Not perfect, but close.Almost perfect. However, the notch and serial number are a HUGE problem. I f you have your task bar at the top, and have a dark theme the notch is not a problem really but, the serial number is very very visible and is intrusive. If you have the task bar on the bottom the serial number is not a problem (unless you have a dark background, but web pages will wash it out but the notch will be super noticeable and distracting.I don't know why 3M made such a great product but did something so stupid like the notch, and serial number. 3M if you read this FIX THIS!!The gold color is fantastic for blocking your screen, and straight on there is no loss of color, or brightness like the black ones. However like others stated because this functions off of reflecting ambient light, these privacy screens are useless in low light conditions. Also if you are on a plane, the seats are too close for it to function as well. But will work great in the terminal if you want to get some work done without peering eyes.4Wide Viewing Angles For A Privacy Filter I have been looking to buy a privacy screen to ward off prying eyes on my personal work. Bought this product based on reviews in Amazon and I must say I have a neutral feedback on this product, having spent just over 4 weeks with this screen. I was hoping that the viewing angle would be narrower. But it is quite wide. That means the passenger behind you can see your screen and the passenger next to you, can view 1/3 of the screen as well. I wish the viewing angle is not as wide as it is now. The first pic is the view of the operator. Nice and clear. The second pic is that of the person next to you. And the third pic is the view of the person standing couple of feet behind you.I would have accepted this wide viewing angle from a lesser priced piece of plastic. But at this price point, it leaves room for lot of improvements. 3Works well--people like the gold colorUsed for work laptop when on the road. Works well though it does dim the screen quite a bit head-on (I find myself always trying to increase the brightness).I'm on my second only because I forgot the first one somewhere (pitfall of removing it to collaborate with a coworker). The second package didn't include the removable mounting option I had in the first--just the one-time use mounting strips. The removable option is handy when collaborating in a conference room. The gold color gets positive comments. It does show finger prints badly, as well as starts to get marks from they keys when the lid is closed. I keep a microfiber cloth on the keyboard when I close it to stop the marking and to use when handling the screen.5The best privacy filter available. Get the gold.Fit my 14" Lenovo T460 Perfectly!Worried I needed the "high resolution" version of this but the quality of the filter is fine and can see everything without any strange artifacts. Not sure what people are complaining about but this Gold filter is the perfect privacy solution. It actually looks red when viewed from a side angle. If you are looking directly into the screen, it will appear very slightly tinted grey and from a side angle appears like a very reflective gold redish tone. Very nice. It will not stop someone standing right behind you or only at a very slight angle but provides peace of mind for casual glances. Works better than expected.5Pretty goodFits my Lenovo T480 exactly and definitely provides privacy from the sides. I would say that adding it reduced the overall brightness of my screen, but nothing I can't deal with. Took a little getting used to, but I hardly notice it now. I used the COMPLY Attachment System. It's nice to have the flexibility to lift it up if I want to. However, I have two small complaints about that system. 1) The clear adhesive at the top is not 100% clear so my OCD kicks in frequently and I can't help staring at it wishing I couldn't. It's really not that bad though. 2) It doesn't sit 100% flush at the bottom which can also be a little distracting and I have to make sure I close my lid quickly so it doesn't accidentally get smashed up by swinging away from the screen.All-in-all, I'm happy with the product. I may try to use one of the other adhesive systems and see if they annoy me less.4Product does not provide any privacy I've owned this product for a few weeks and purchased for my Samsung laptop. I travel every week for business and this was purchased in order to protect sensitive customer information while I"m working during flights. The privacy filter is easy to install, however, that's where the positives on this product end. I have taken 3 flights since purchasing the item and there is really no added security from the people sitting next to me. I was travelling with a coworker a few days ago. I was sitting at the window and he was sitting on the isle. With him being at about a 60 angle to my screen, he was still able to see what was being shown. If he was sitting in the middle seat next to me, he could see my screen just as well as I could.I purchased a similar product for my Galaxy Note 4 and it works exactly as described. There's about an 8 degree viewing cone and outside of that area, the screen looks completely black. This is the same technology I was looking for on my PC but this product has not met expectations. If I still had the original packaging, I would return this product for a refund. I am not sure if there is a better product on the market but I will continue looking. 1Black vs. Gold - BUY THE GOLD ONEI bought the black one first, and then the gold. Don't make my mistake - spend the extra money and buy the gold.Black:- Very blurry if you aren't in a very well lit atmosphere. It hurt my eyes after a few minutes- Slightly curved or bowed. You can't stick it flush with the screen. So depending on which side you have on, either the upper/lower portions will be further away from the screen (and more hazy), or the middle part.- Only comes with tabs (no tape)- Hard to remove from the screen if you have a bezel (can't grab onto the thing!)Gold:- Clearly the newer one. It has taken complaints from the older black screens and better engineered this one.- Has a gold and a black side. Both options!- Gold is easier to see through (not blurry like the black one)- Not curved, but flat so it is easier to be flush with the screen.- Has a little cutout tab at the top so it is far easier to remove- Has both double sided sticky tape and tabs, for whichever option you prefer. According to the box, the sticky tape can be replaced for free when it is no longer sticky.Oddly, I think this review section has both black and gold in the same section. Pay close attention to which one the person bought who is making the reviews.5Works with Adhesive Workaround The privacy screen itself works pretty well - matte side. However, the plastic tabs that are used to adhere the privacy screen to the laptop are terrible. It's a hard plastic with some double-sided tape on it. Because it's hard plastic, it doesn't really accommodate for the thickness of the privacy screen, and doesn't stick flat on the screen. Also the stickiness wasn't evenly distributed on all the plastic tabs. In the end, I threw out the hard plastic tabs, and just put some pieces of regular double-sided tape.I have a touch screen laptop, and with the privacy screen on, the touch sensitivity is not as good. Strong tap are registered, but soft swipes on the screen doesn't always register. 3
